I gotta ask for the twist on your Chef's Special™️: Department Q #38—bandaging the homie's wounds
thank you for allowing me to bring my nefarious wound-treatment agenda into this fandom

“What makes you think there will be a next time?” (Ao3)

“Hold still, Carl.”
“I don’t need—hey!”
Carl flinches back from the rag that rubs his cheek with more force than before. Assad deadpans. “You never do, right?”
He scowls. “I thought you had manners.”
“I did.”
He continues to disinfect the split skin with furrowed brow. And even though Carl bitches, he… appreciates it. Assad could have just waited for the paramedics to arrive, gone off to talk to the authorities and wrap up the case with a nice pretty bow—he wouldn’t blame him. He might have done that himself, were he in Assad’s place. And yet, he stays.
“What made you think chasing the armed kidnapper was a good idea? Have you not learned your lesson by now?”
“I got him, didn’t I?”
“That’s not my point,” he says. “You can’t just keep running at criminals and expecting not to get hurt. Someday you’re going to get yourself into something that I can’t get you out of.”
Assad pulls the bloodied rag away and digs around in the bag that one of the nurses had let him borrow this afternoon. He peels a butterfly bandage and brings it up to Carl’s cheek; his fingers rest, warm against his face to steady his own hand. The raw skin complains as the bandage pulls it back together.
“I knew I would get hurt. But if I hadn’t gone after him, we would have lost weeks trying to find him again.”
He moves onto the gash on Carl’s hand. “I hate how reckless you are.”
“But I caught him.”
Assad sighs. “…Okay, yeah. You caught him.”
Carl watches his face, downturned and pinched in concentration. In worry. Assad had been worried.
“If it bothers you so much, you can chase the suspect next time.”
“What makes you think there will be a next time?”
It’s Carl’s turn to deadpan. “Assad.”
He looks up. At Carl’s unimpressed expression, Assad thins his lips.
As my mutual who's into Cars, what is your opinion on Planes (2013) and it's impact on the Cars fandom
i saw planes once when it came out and formed literally no opinions on, nor attatchment to, the movie. let me get back to you in one hour and thirty one minutes.
In response to your post about the fanfic question game: 🌈
🌈 favorite trope to write: bandaging your partner’s wounds. i just keep writing it over and over and it never gets old. the kinds of dialogue that can happen in that position are really unique.
Bonus: tell me how you researched the Chp. 10 impromptu emergency care scene?? I'm so curious about it!
🔬 the fic i did the most research for: oh definitely DCSH, just because of the amount of times i had to do research at all. discounting that, probably Drop That Petal To The Floor. i had no idea how motorsports worked in any capacity.
for the bonus: i honestly have no idea. usually when you look up that kind of thing all you get is "put pressure on the wound and wait for an ambulance" which, as you could guess, would not work for them. i somehow searched just the right keywords to find a guide that basically boiled down to "doing this is extremely risky and it would be way better if your wait for medical care, BUT IN THE CIRCUMSTANCE WHEN THAT IS NOT AN OPTION, here's how to take out a bullet".
i followed that (with some creative liberties) and took a bit of inspiration from Pit Stop by Yessica, another fic where a similar thing happens. boom. emergency care scene.
I'm curious about your account name change, if you would want to talk about it!
wow that was fast haha.
honestly i had the idea a long time ago, but i didn't have any idea of what i wanted to do instead, so i just left it.
i chose my url wayy back when i first joined tumblr (...like most people). i didn't know what i wanted to do or how i wanted to present myself. i was i totally different person with WILDLY different views and a lot less maturity. i dunno, it's a metaphor for growth as a person or whatever. i just figured the old name didn't match the new... i don't know, theme? throughline?
i've changed a lot, and my blog with it, and i figured it deserved a makeover.
