I have so many things I’m attempting to write right now, and halfway to banging my head against a wall, but for now I want to just say a headcanon for Tiana and Alice.
Tiana immediately takes to the kind of quirky sense of humor, and occasionally lack of a filter, Alice seems to have. Being close to her father, Tiana has affection for her off the bat, but when they get to talking she sees that Alice’s endearing kookiness fill her with a sense of both pride and protectiveness. More than that, she’s glad to have found someone that treats her with a comforting sort of kindness, and with the respect one would give an accomplished friend rather than a queen. Alice never keeps her at an unspoken, revered distance. To her, she’s just Tiana.
Though Tiana has little inside jokes and rituals with Killian, soon she begins to develop them with Alice. They start a little game after Tiana has had an incredibly uncomfortable day as queen and she’d rather have an out-of-body experience than be in her own skin.
“You know, it’s not as bad as you think it is,” Alice assures her suddenly, that Jones twinkle in her eye. “Not like that awkward moment when you sneeze, and you know half your insides are now on the outside, and there’s not a handkerchief in sight.”
Tiana laughs. Honest to goodness laughs, and suddenly some of the pressure and insecurity falls away. The curse takes away these moments of levity, but with it breaking they return to old habits and their silly little game of trying to out-awkward each other.
Sitting there in a booth at Roni’s, they share a marmalade sandwich and fries, giggling into their sodas. Tiana starts with, “That awkward moment when someone says 'happy birthday' or 'have a nice trip' and you say 'you, too' automatically.”
Alice shakes her head. “Alright, but what about that awkward moment in a public bathroom when you know you've taken too long to start peeing and now you're thinking about it?”
Tiana damn near snorts into her fry. “That awkward moment when you're in a room full of professional people and you keep sucking in your stomach in the hopes it will keep it from growling.”
"I can't say I've done that one. If it wants to talk to me, I let it.”
