Something vaguely connected to the Eldritch Expanse that I believe I wrote in April or May of 2025, Enjoy:
"no, it hates, it is in agony and it wants you to feel it, in its own madness and Lunacy, you are all it sees, it fixates on you, it doesn't want you dead, it doesn't want you to become like it, it wants you to become worse than it, it screams and roars in Requiems to its own funeral and it wants you as its witness, it wants you to grieve and cry and beg and feel the dread and grief and melancholy and regrets, regrets that you never knew it before it became like this, but that is a lie, it was always like this, born from a womb of rot and decay, its own nature alien to itself, it writhes in agony and frustration, it envies you who knows so little and can do so much, it knows all and can do none, like a scholar born with no hands to write and no feet to explore, it's knowledge is it's identity and it's downfall, burdened with a great cause it could never fulfill, and it knows it, it is doomed to entropy and tries to pull you with it, it gives you eyes to see the truths, it gives you tentacles to feel them, it gives teeth to taste it, all to put you in its same position, and yet that which makes you inherently different than it is never erased, the life and humanity, the curiosity and fear in you instead bloom, covering you and showing you the way, they are glasses that filter for you to see that truth, they are gloves that isolate for you to feel that truth, they are knives to cut the truth with to make it bite-sized for you to swallow with ease, it screeches and roars with indignity and horrors, for how could something so small like you contain something so big that even it couldn't, it looks at you with a million billion eyes, and it stares into that abyss that is your enigma, and the abyss stares back, lashing at a billion trillion eyes that turn blind, singed and cracking, it promises that it shall win, that it shall fulfill its purpose eventually, and in response, the smirk hidden deep within the abyss cracks for the quadrillionth time, a sound so new and fresh comes out of it, surprised by its own apparent infancy, it hums in a tune that accepts the challenge for the nth time…"
Some afterthoughts: tbh, I did not plan to write it or anything, I just wrote it all at once directly. it features some of that alien or 'other' enemy kind of thing, the "it" of the story is an enemy, that's it's whole identity, and the "you" is just human, that's the entire dynamic. I'll think of how I may connect it with the other ideas and such of the Eldritch Expanse proper
