Okay, look.
Glasses isn’t proof, but I think a lot of things just slotted into place for me.
Lily as the one that cursed Eda... I’m not gonna lie, my first reaction was to feel a little betrayed by the narrative, like ‘oh of course the sister has to be responsible for this too’ but the more I think about it the more it makes sense and the better it works, because it answers the biggest question I had really well.
Curses imply intent. Who could have such a grudge against a child that they would do something so terrible?
The answer is another child.
Eda implied she was really quite young when she was cursed, and it looks like she and Lilith are at most a year or two apart. Lilith, who looks sour and sad in the background of this photo, has probably been building up resentment her whole life. Eda was a delinquent, sure, but she’s also outgoing and cheerful and clearly has at least one good friend, going by Mysterious Bard there (who, yes, has the same glasses, but we’re two and a half episodes from the end of the season, they’re not gonna introduce her Old Jilted Bard GF now). All we really know about Lilith’s childhood is that 1) she described herself as coming from ‘humble beginnings’ back in Covention, and 2) someone stole her lunch one time and Eda went ballistic food-fight nuts in revenge. Maybe I’m projecting too much as a floofy-redhead who had round glasses in high school and whose big sister was way more social and successful, but... damn.
I wouldn’t have done anything to take my sister down, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t have sympathy for Lily.
So Lilith gets in deep. I don’t know how she figured out how to cast such a nasty curse-- whether it was sneaking around reading books she wasn’t supposed to have access to or help from an adult witch (we’ve seen pretty strongly today that the teachers aren’t really authority figures to be trusted, at Hexside), she does something awful and potentially irreparable at a very young age. What does she do?
She ties it up inside herself. She genuinely worries about Eda-- that moment of sorrow for her state at the covention definitely wasn’t faked-- and she pushes forward. She won’t blame herself, she’s too brittle for that; she can’t acknowledge she’s done anything wrong.
So she pushes, pushes, pushes to get Eda to follow her into the Emperor’s Coven, the one way she might be able to right her wrong.
Even if that would deny Eda her freedom.
Lending Tree Spell
In January, I found a site (https://magickalspot.com/finding-who-cursed-you/) that had a couple options on how to find out your cursers name. It was honestly the ONLY site I found to find out an actual name unless you are able to divine it through tarot or pendulum. Now, I am experienced in both tarot and pendulum and tried them previously to attempt to divine a name. It did not work out well.
1. Because tarot cannot spell out an actual name. It can give you clues as to the person.
2. I did not have a pendulum board with letters or numbers, etc. I did attempt to write one out and use my pendulum but all I got was “TRAITOR” and a few roman numerals that I was unable to decipher into anything that would be recognizable to anyone. I have since purchased a detailed pendulum board and I will take a picture of it to showcase it in another post later on.
From this site I decided the best way for me to go forward would be to try the lending tree option. This spell takes a week to do. You need a rusty nail, a hammer, a thick trunked tree, and the spell. It says that within the week someone (the curser or someone sent by the curser) will contact you and ask for something. I did everything the way it said to prep. I had my rusty nail. I have a big tree (I’m unsure of its identification). I picked a time that I thought I’d be able to complete the daily ritual for the whole week. I nailed my rusty nail in at the right time for two days while stating the spell BUT then I fell off the band wagon. Unexpected things arose, as they do when you have 4 kids, and I was unable to complete the spell. Everything still felt okay for the next few days that I was unable to hammer more. On day 5, I tried to nail in the nail as to cancel the spell early so to speak. The nail bent. I straightened it and tried again. It bent a different direction again. I had my Hubs try. It did the same thing. I gave up and decided I’d wait until day 7 to nail it in. If it wouldn’t nail in on that day I would simply leave it be as to not disturb its incompleteness and simply let the magic wear out.
The morning of day 7 arrived and I felt uneasy. I knew today I was suppose to just nail the head in until it was flesh with the tree trunk to ‘complete’ the uncompleted spell except something felt like it was tethered to the nail; it didn’t feel like this any of the previous days. It felt like a homing beacon. The only way I can truly describe it was like the curser was climbing the energy rope back to me to find my location. I said fuck that. I would rather deal with the repercussions of removing the nail from the tree and cutting this line to me than be found. With that I tried to remove it. It wouldn’t budge. I called my Hubs. He came out and it took him 45 minutes to remove this nail. He is not a burly man but he by no means is a weak man. It should not have taken that long to remove this nail. Even he stated he could feel us being tracked through this line. We disposed of the nail off our property immediately. Hubs asked what kind of repercussions we would face and I was honest, “I don’t know but I’m sure we will know when it happens.”
A month later we would get a message in the night from yet another intruding spirit. This spirit rushed into my home and into my room with quite the urgency. Hubs felt it, I felt it. “What’s that?” Hubs asked.
“We need to get our cards. We have a message.” I stated back and immediately we grabbed our things and converged downstairs at the dining table. Shuffling we go with our individual decks a few cards fall. I don’t remember which cards exactly fell out to be honest. I remember the message we interpreted. It stated that a shadow from our past was going to contact us and OFFER US something and that it would be extremely tempting but we were not to take it- WHAT SO EVER! It was the lending spell in reverse. Instead of the curser asking for something they were offering something. This is our repercussion. It is now March and we have yet to be offered something but we will not take anything lightly.
If anyone has any other spells, a way to help, or is willing to attempt to divine and find a name for me so I can bind whom ever is seeking to harm me I would greatly appreciate it. Inbox me!
Between the start of this and mid Feb. I had another event happen that I will write about next: Metatron!
