When i see these finished masterpieces, i just want to take the time to acknowledge any and everyone who pushes me to levels, they have no idea how much they inspire me, and they have no idea how i will bring their ideas to life. This was my first time working with pearls, and although very hesitant, I’m now ready to create more pearly masterpieces. I will have to use another time to add in the other photos of what I was given to use as their inspiration, but I’m appreciative for the excitement that I witnessed upon delivery.

What I do know is that pearls are much, much, much harder to work with that crystals. Considering their weight, their various shapes, and various sizes, I had to first envision the layout before I began. From what I was given to preview, pearl designs seemed to be oddly placed without a method of repetitive cohesion, and for a mind like mines, it was harder to put something together that I believed my customer would approve of because I couldn’t make it make sense artistically. Regardless of the inspiration someone may show me, it’s up to me as a true artist to give the customer what they want concurrently making it obviously a unique Kel Kel Emili design – ORDER.

Also, I’m an advancing master with working with crystals, so depending on the size of the shoe, the artwork that is needed to be adorned upon the shoe, and the color(s) needed, I could give a roughly accurate estimate upon how much of what I need to accurately charge someone, but the pearls began a new challenge in itself that I’m already in the works of mastering – ORDER.

With starting off with some all white canvas and leather vans, i first had to decide if I was going to cover the Vans logo or not. Then, with only a limited amount of time, I originally would’ve did the colorway reversed – keeping the tongue and toebox the same – but since I’m great at what I do, I first decided upon a design, and got to work. I’m honestly more impressed with the toebox on these because I had to take a step back and give myself a hand clap because it looks neat AF. I’m so impressed with that WOW factor that I now want a pair just like that, and it looks so neat in fact that it looks as if I cut out and taped it in place or something. ORDER.

When it comes to the tongue of the shoe, I feel that 5 times out of 5 the tongue is neglected upon any shoe – but that’s just from my opinionated observation. With that being said, as an artist my mindset is to go that extra mile, and as an entrepreneur, my mindset is to make that customer feel that I undercharged them because overall, it’s my good name and the details that matter. And when it comes to the details, again, pearls are another challenge so i might do one shoe at a time, I had to do the shoe in steps to lessen any errors in my process. It was more work, but that’s what greatness takes. So, if anyone wanted to sit and figure out my process, it would basically be that I didn’t want to have the unexplainable oblong pieces randomly placed – that’s not appealing to my eyes. My intentions are to get people to stare so I had to strategize with the sizes and my design to overall let them be placed in angles that increased gradually. These like any other could’ve went a lot of different ways but I would love to hear you input, with the biggest being to ORDER.

Blending my most favorite artistic aspects: Pics & Kicks! There are who may know me for being a photographer or videography, and then there are those who may know me as Kelz w/ the Kicks! It was a hard decision to make, but I knew that if I wanted to bring my vision to life, especially with footwear, and besides the sneaker events, then I would have to put allz of my attention into it. With that being said I gradually started to tell people: “No, I’m done with the camera.”

It was hard and still is passing up certain events, but as an ARTrepreneur, my tunnel vision is for my future. Money is a given, because my skills and opportunities has challenged me for all types of occasions and atmospheres to adjust myself too in order to attain larger levels. The thing is, I knew that my art, focusing on shoes first was what I was after because even during the terrible time I still wanted to do it. When it comes to my camera, being booked with difficult people, or playing bill collector, unorganized events, and tons of other problems, the aggravation gets to a point where it destroys the creative process and I no longer wanted to participate in a lane that I wanted to keep for myself.

With limited time as well, it really was easier to say NO!, because most events you will do editing. I’m into candid moments so I’m always seeking an opportunity to capture a moment – which in turn means more footage to go through afterwards as well. Even with a lot of pictures and or footage, if the event was boring, or lacked visual excitement, then it was not only torture to get through editing, but if I’m marketing myself, those pictures of that footage from your lackadaisical event does nothing to further what portfolio. With allz of the hours, and hours, and hours of being in tuned to other people’s events satisfying their need, my needs weren’t being met and I wasn’t any closer to bringing my artistic vision to fruition, so a NO! became necessary.

However, I love being behind my camera, I see art in many things and want to capture that and many moments. I think my next Kandid Kelz project will consist of Secondline Sundays, all of my Kel Kelz Customs, and events where I’m involved in some way. The photographic journey is still heating up, and when it comes to the Kel Kelz Customs, I’m waiting to see how you would like yours once you ORDER.

I remember when I finally moved into my first office space, I was so eager to get started that even thru distractions I was making things happen. It started off light, and the low top black/white Retro Air Jordan 11s were the first to make the cut. At this time I had to start learning taping techniques – and even now depending on the material of the shoe you’re trying to cover, it’s all a big learning curve, so unless you’re amazing and sturdy with your hands, then you could skip this step.

The shoes looked a bit shimmery already too me, so I just added an adaptable shimmer to drape across the black of the patent leather pattern. Definitely a simple first start, but eye catching, and a unisex mixture to make a statement. These are an everyday look, it’s safe, and I know that this would be in plenty people’s style, you might even want the same concept but on a different shoe for your ORDER.

I have always thought that the all white high top Retro Air Jordan 11s from the silver collection was way past plain too me. I had only worn them once for an all white party, and since then there has been a Columbia style all white with blue accents released on the shoe. Real sneakeheads even had complaints about the Jordan emblem not even adorning the outside top on each side of the shoes like they normally do. Looking at these I still feel as though I even customized them too plain, and I’ll probably do something else. I’ve only worn these once after I customized them with the two tone Pink shimmer and decorative flakes. I was immediately sent running back to the drawing board after going to a graduation party and someone bumped into me and stepped on my entire foot, taking off allz the shimmer with them. Needless to say how distraught I was, it made me do my research on different adhesives to ensure that embarrassment would never happen again, and it hasn’t. I’m overly confident now because again, the training of trial and error is necessary, you are not able to bypass this option if you want greatness delivered once you ORDER.

My very first time working with spikes and I was determined to do it BiG!, and I only came out with four swollen fingers, so we did good! 😊 When I’m pulling the ideas out of my head, they don’t come with instructions on how I should execute the idea to fruition. These are now two years old, and they have still held up through numerous environments, because I was trying to wear them almost everyday to get my art in motion noticed.

When it comes to materials I never had experience with, I needed to see them in person so that these numbers iM reading could make sense. As far as picking the sizes, I had a variety, & iM glad that a lot of them were definitely never before seen on shoes for sure. They are definitely functioning footwear, it just had a little added weight like a boot. The other disclaimer I would need to add is to keep them away from bare feet, because they actually do hurt when being stepped on even by mistake – I know for a fact.

These low top faux gator leather G-Nikes (Air Force 1s) were all black when I started. With being in New Orleans, there is always a good spirit to have pride for New Orleans Saints ensembles of some sort just to represent that good ole’ Black & Gold. So of course I would make all the accents on the shoe stand out: the shoelace tips are gold, the added eyelets in every shoe outlet are gold, I turned the Nike Swoosh Gold, as well as the Nike Air Nameplate on the heel Gold, and the signature Air on the midsole Gold. There are other Black & Gold pairs produced that I haven’t uploaded yet, and there will definitely be other Black & Gold pairs to produce, including yours when you ORDER.

ONE Meaux: Testing Spikes w/ G-Nikes - AF1 My very first time working with spikes and I was determined to do it BiG!, and I only came out with four swollen fingers, so we did good!

This was a cold Mardi Gras, and the chosen High Top G-Nikes (Air Force 1s) seemed to be a good safe look. This was one of my first test with specifically Swarvorksi crystals to see how they matched up against other crystal brands that I had been working with. Swarvoski’s are way more expensive, and I still wanted to add some excitement but still keep it simple, so I selected the Nike Swoosh.

I’m still not really sure what the material of these specific shoes are, but it was smooth and soft, and the staticky colored background drew me to it. Since the Nike Swoosh were only perforations, I wanted to bring them more to life. First I painted the entire middle gold to compliment the eyelets and the gum bottom, lightly covered it with a Salmon colored shimmer with the matching laces, and covered the Nike Swoosh with a classic color from Swarvorski crystals. They drew attention, it was a good look, simple, but I really needed to see if the Swarvorski crystals made that big of a difference compared to other crystals. My conclusions – No, it didn’t make that much of a difference for me to only want to use Swarvorski crystals adorned on allz of my custom work. So, when I price anyone for items including crystals, the cost of the crystals are included, but if you specifically want Swarvorski crystals on your items, you’ll still pay the exact same price plus the additional cost of the Sworvorski crystals for your ORDER.

ONE Meaux: Mardi Gras Swarvorski Checks This was a cold Mardi Gras, and the chosen High Top G-Nikes (Air Force 1s) seemed to be a good safe look.
