I’ve been slowly working on illustrating my own Tarot deck about black cats.
I have a long way to go, but I’m nearly done with the major arcana.
2026 edit: I have finished the art for The Void Deck! I am preparing to have the deck produced now. If you would like to be notified when the kickstarter/preorder launches sign up on my website. Also, I’ve got some tees and hoodies and stuff folks have said they’d be interested in available too. I’m just dabbling and only shipping to the US for the moment while I get more details sorted.
Here are some of my favorites:
I set myself a design challenge (as I often do). I wanted to limit the color palette and the brush styles to create a very consistent look.
And since each card focuses on black cats, it forces me to think deeply about symbolism and design to make sure the meaning of each card is clear and each design is unique.
But there’s still a lot of variety coming through. It’s not all class, or all silliness - just like cats
I have a forearm tattoo of the cats in this one ☝️
I’m so happy with how both of these two managed to feel dark, but adorable at the same time.
And then there’s this one absolute diva:
Most of these used my own feline friends for reference.
There are more but I don’t know yet how many I want to share online. If I can actually complete the entire deck I would love to have it made. But I have a ways to go, so for now I continue to chip away, one card at a time.

They think of you as someone very creative and dedicated to their craft. Your future self thinks of you as someone full of luck and highly favored by the universe right now. You exude positivity and attract people, opportunities, and success effortlessly. They want you to continue with this energy, and take advantage of it. As of right now, despite the positive energy, they know that there’s some confusion surrounding you. There’s some things you’re not seeing clearly and that are blocked due to denial or avoidance. They think of you as someone who’s avoiding the truth about something and blocking their emotions. You’re unwilling to see something right now. They think you’re struggling to balance different areas of your life, and for many of you, this could involve a relationship. They want you to know that prioritizing what’s not important right now could lead to failure. Your future self wants you to reevaluate your life and think about where you’re putting your energy and cut back what’s not necessary in order to maintain a happy life. They know that you might be obsessing over something right now. Could be a person, thoughts, or something that you’re currently obsessing with. Your future self wants you to let go of this and to know that it’s not something that’s truly fulfilling and working for you. On the other hand, it could be that you’re being way too submissive, there could be people bringing criticism, negativity and manipulation into your life, trying to dim you. Stand up for yourself and walk away from that. You are not powerless, and you are not bound by anything other than yourself.

Your future self sees the current you as someone with incredible potential, positivity, and creativity. They encourage you to trust yourself while letting go of the distractions, fears, or situations that no longer align with the life you’re building.

Pile 2: 👖
Your future self thinks of the current you as someone who’s holding onto things very tightly. You could be holding onto people, possessions, ideas, etc. Your future self thinks of you as someone materialistic, controlling, and unhealthy in various situations. Allow yourself to open to things or situations. New people, new experiences, new perspectives. Stop denying yourself experiences simply because you’re afraid to spend money. They think of you as someone that’s currently not respecting people’s boundaries, if you’re chasing someone, stop. If you’re holding onto past situations and people, stop. None of that is serving you or will serve you in the future. Your future self thinks of you right now, as someone who’s acting a bit childish or immature. You could be engaging in gossip or just simply blocking that fun side of your life because of naivety. They think of you as someone who focuses too much on either love, or money. You don’t balance either. If love comes into your life, you become fully invested in that, ignoring the material side your life such as your goals, ambitions, etc. When money comes into your life, you isolate yourself and keep hoarding money. Your future self wants you to know that you should learn how to balance having fun and being in love with your aspirations in life. Don’t hoard your money and prevent yourself from experiencing life, but also don’t become too invested in other things to the point you lose your focus and stability.
Main Message:
Your future self wants you to loosen your grip on what you’re trying to control. Balance is your greatest lesson, and learning when to let go will create more peace, stability, and fulfillment.
Insights:
Be open to new experiences and perspectives.
Respect your own boundaries and those of others.
Find a healthy balance between love, money, and personal goals.
Allow yourself to enjoy life instead of living in fear of loss.
Pile 3: 🌿
My pile 3! Your future self thinks of the current you as someone who’s experiencing a lot of anxiety, sadness, or unhappiness in their lives. They know that you’re at a point right now that’s making you feel that things are worse than they are. Your future self wishes they could come back to the past and rewrite it, so if you come across this, I’m giving you a chance to do so. You’re stuck in a phase of thinking negatively and letting yourself be consumed with negativity. You might feel weary, with your energy drained. However, your future self wishes they didn’t judge themselves so harshly during this period. They want you to know that you’re close to achieving the things you want, you’re close to success. Gather your strength and persevere. Don’t let your mind play against you, and challenge those thoughts and anxieties that are not serving you any good. Redirect the energy to your ambitions and goals, and put any worries aside. You’re close to your breakthrough. They want you to know that you will travel a lot, and do many things you wish to do that you’re uncertain of right now. Give yourself all the space you need right now, and find a way to heal and learn from this experience. If you need support, don’t be afraid to reach out to those who care about you.

Your future self wants you to know that this difficult chapter is temporary. They encourage you to be gentler with yourself, keep moving forward, and trust that you’re much closer to your breakthrough than you realize.

Six months later we have the full Major Arcana. I am still planning on doing Minor Arcana, but it'll take a while. XD

I've been working on this one for almost a month now and modified it a lot. Still, I am not 100% satisfied with it so I will probably remake it when I will find the time again. It was still super fun to work on something like this, experiment and try new things but it is not exactly what I envision or wanted this piece to be.
I am letting it go and moving on to the next piece!
