The feeling of coldness wakes you up, Hollis wasn’t in bed with you “hm?” he was supposed to be with you. You got out of bed, slipping on your pink fuzzy slippers, opening the door and heading towards the living room. You see a lamp turned on and Hollis sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table, with his laptop. He looked tired, he shouldn’t be here, he should be in bed-with you,
“Baby? Why aren’t you in bed? You look tired” you say quietly, standing near the couch,
“I need to finish this” He mumbles, rubbing his eyes,
“It needs to get done tonight” he doesn’t turn- only taps keys, placing beats here and there. You can hear low music playing from his earbud,
“C’mon love, you need sleep or else you’ll fall asleep on your laptop-“ you say but he quickly shouts “no! This can’t be finished tomorrow. Im doing it now because I can’t even do work because you always want affection. You’re always taking my time, you need to leave me alone!” he lashes out, clenching his fist, jaw tightening slightly,
You don’t speak after that, your mouth quivers, tears wetting your lashes- a tear slowly falling down your cheek, a small shaky breath leaves you.
Hollis quickly turns his head, eyes wide,
“No baby, I’m sorry. You know i didnt mean that” he stands up, gently grabbing your wrist- pulling you into his lap,
“It’s just I have a lot of work, and it’s not working out for me. I love you baby, I’m sorry I made you cry my sweetheart” he kisses your forehead, picking you up,
“Work can wait for now, we need sleep” he whispers, saving and closing his laptop.
“I love you Hollis” you whisper in his neck
