Wolf found dead in the Netherland earlier this month was wild wolf
March 14, 2017 - The dead wolf found alongside a highway earlier this month (warning: graphic content) originated from a pack of wild wolves in Germany. DNA analysis show it concerns a young, healthy male wolf from around 1.5 years old who derived from the Cuxhaven pack. This pack is located north from Bremen, in the region Niedersachsen, Germany.
The distance the wolf travelled from Germany to the place it was found dead is about 200 kilometers as the crow flies. The animal was well fed, and traces of a hare and a deer were found in its stomach remains.
