can they swim or would being under water be really bad for them?
They can swim! But only in fairly shallow water, like a small creek or puddle. Heck, maybe even a birdbath. They just can't get their wings wet.
Sun and Moon both have the ability to make their wings appear and disappear at will, for protection and convenience.
And while they CAN swim, doesn't always mean they do. Mostly because there's the risk of getting gobbled by a fish or a turtle. The only time they take a dip is if summers are too warm.
