It was late at night, about midnight,a majority of the residents in Creatorverse were fast asleep-or stressing over their next art piece or fanfiction. Normally, one of these young creatorversians,a teenager named Jay,would be doing one of the two. However, tonight was different.
Instead, they were in the kitchen, nursing themself a fourth cup of coffee with an absurd amount of chocolate flavored creamer. They couldn't quite sleep, not with what they were thinking about right now.
The hard slaps to the face at 7
The punches to the stomach at 9
The searing, hurtful words at 10
The screaming whenever they fucked up at 11
The unacceptance of their real gender at 12
It was all eating at them, and they knew if they fell asleep,it would devour them in their dreams like a hungry wolf. They were muttering a slew of uncensored profanities, unaware that someone was behind them.
"Jay?" Jay suddenly jumped at the voice, their cup falling out of their hands. They managed to catch it,but unfortunately the coffee spilled out and made a mess on the tiles. Jay groaned, whipping around to the source of the voice, sighing in relief when they realized who it was. Standing at the doorway, was a rather tired looking Zen.
Zen leaned against the doorway, her eyebrows furrowing at the teen who was helping themself at the coffee pot,not to mention the ridiculous amount of junk food that was on the table. "What in inertia are you doing? It's late, aren't you supposed to be sleeping?" She asked, her voice loosely laced in concern. She usually didn't mind when anyone was in the kitchen drinking a bunch of coffee, but something was telling her Jay was doing this to prevent sleeping….
"Uhhhhhhh" Jay paused, looking for what to say. They could have said they're working on something like an angsty fanfic between a traumatized child confiding their issues to a mother-figure,but they had a feeling Zen would see right through that. Plus, they trust Zen. Hell they even told her they're a cambion from a fucked up planet. They could trust Zen this time too right?
"Something's fucking with me,Zen. This time it ain't Mimic…" Jay told the truth, being careful to keep their voice quiet. Zen raised an eyebrow, motioning to the living room. "Wanna sit down and talk about it?" Zen asked. Jay sighed, nodding as they quickly poured coffee and creamer and walked into the living room. They plopped onto the couch, sipping their coffee. Zen took a deep breath, sitting down next to them. Jay gulped, finally starting to speak.
"I was thinking about my father."
That sentence raised alarm to Zen. She never really heard about Jay's dad,and whenever anyone asked,Jay would completely avoid the topic like the plague. It didn't take much now to connect the dots on Jay having a rocky relationship with him.
"It was hell living with him,to be completely honest. He never really accepted me,much less treated me like his own child. I wanna tell you more,but-" "No It's fine if you tell me Jay. It sounds like he was really shitty" Zen interrupted. Jay gave them a grateful look before going back to speaking.
"He pressured me to be perfect, and anything less...well... he'd shout at me,call me things such as 'stupid bitch' or 'worthless whore',a-and sometimes…" Jay trailed off, lowering their voice to a whisper.
"H-h-he would hit me." A very clear amount of pain was in their voice, causing Zen's heart to ache.
"When I realized I was N-nonbinary,it got even worse. He forced me to be something I just wasn't,a girl…" Jay's voice was now quivering with pain, their soul figuratively screaming for them to stop talking.
"He made me wish I was dead"
That's when Jay was finally breaking down, tears starting to roll down their cheeks.
Zen was speechless. Jay was clearly hurt by what they went through. It was clear in their voice. Taking a breath,Zen leaned in and wrapped Jay in a warm hug.
Jay fully broke down, bursting into sobs as they buried their head into their shoulder, hugging back." Shhh,You're not there anymore,we WILL protect you from that monster, okay?" Zen whispered soothingly, rubbing their back in an attempt to calm them down. Jay remained in her embrace, hiccuping as they continued to sob.
They remained like that for a bit, around ten minutes. Jay pulled away, sniffling as they rubbed at their reddened eyes. "You guys will really keep me away from him, right?" Jay asked quietly, looking Zen in the eye. Zen gave a warm smile. "Of course,Jay! You're one of us,we look out for each other. If he ever comes here, it's on sight that we will kick his ass" Zen replied. Jay smiled, giving one final quick hug before relaxing.
"Well,I think I'm gonna go to bed now. I'll see ya in the morning," Jay yawned, getting up as they went to the hallway. "And Zen," Zen paused, looking at Jay.
"Thank you,it means a lot to me for someone to care" Jay said warmly, before going to their bedroom. They slipped under the covers, immediately falling asleep. Zen smiled, relaxing onto the couch.
She will help Jay at all costs
Whew! I finally wrote something for Creatorverse. I decided to finally write angst for my Sona,Jay. I'm actually really proud of this oneshot, since it did good with capturing Jay's backstory and Their mother/child relationship with Zen. I hope y'all enjoyed this!
