Ok.
I feel the need to say something in response to some of the comments I’ve seen popping up on various platforms since the Vulture article and Gaiman journal post came out.
Child abuse does not lead to the victim becoming an abuser.
It is not an excuse or an explanation for future behaviour.
A shitty childhood does not allow you to treat others like shit when you’re an adult.
Abusing someone is a choice. It is not an inevitable, unavoidable outcome of your childhood. Abusing multiple people over years is…fuck, I can’t even find the words beyond saying it’s sickening.
Never forget that Gaiman is a master wordsmith. Language is what he knows. Words are his tools.
Don’t be fooled.
Disclaimer: I was a victim of CSA.
i cannot even begin to explain how detrimental it is to a child to grow up with an unpredictable adult.
'i wasn't supposed to reply today' is not a revelation you should have at age 6.
'there's nothing more difficult than trying to figure out a parent's mood' <- the most difficult thing at that age should be your math homework, not learning to tiptoe the mood of an immature adult.

To answer your question about m*mamoo, they have a history of blackface and CA of black culture. H*asa specifically appropriates about every week lmao. The mama performance was a whole shit ton of orientalism where they used south Asian and middle eastern aesthetics for their aesthetic calling it the agrabah version which is from Aladdin which uses orientalism and mashes SA/ME together as if they’re the same when they’re completely different
oh okay thank you for explaining I really appreciate it!! I did wonder about that with the performance today but I wasn't sure so! thank you!!!

I cannot stop cackling like I feel so bad but this dude looks like he's got shaken baby syndrome
more depictions of parental abuse that don't focus on physical violence
we are keeping truth away from victims whose parents never laid a hand on them but left deep, horrible scars nonetheless.
please believe me
