Seems pretty obvious to even mention. But I appreciated the way the Pitt approached the details of the rape case, and I think I’m probably not alone in that. We hear the very beginning of her story, we see her conflict later over it (“he’s my friend” “he didn’t mean it”) and we see Dana and Emma’s reactions, but we the viewers are not privy to the rest of her account. We aren’t welcome to listen in, we aren’t expected to sit through a graphic description of sexual assault. It’s a very deliberate choice from a show that has no problem showing us birth scenes with extended genital-focused sequences, and tackling issues like possible CSA and human trafficking head on. And we do see, with great deliberation and steady pacing, the rest of the examination Dana does on the patient. But the survivor’s story is her own. It’s reserved for her and for the minimum number of people who have to hear it. It shows WHY, for all its gore and punch, the Pitt is not a show that goes in for shock value. It is unwilling to participate in the use of women’s traumatic experiences for horror points in a given plot. This is a story about Dana, and what it means to be a nurse in an ER- we don’t need to know the patient’s story to understand Dana’s reaction, and the way that this case is a placeholder for what Dana and other SANEs go through regularly.

Eric has validated a long running fantasy I think many of us have had about old Daniel absolutely laying into Marius and personally that’s enough to keep me going for two years.

This is what I’ve been saying about Daniel. He was flanderised this season for sure, and he’s very irrationally angry right now, but at the core of who he is, he is still a man who lived as a human in the 21st century where morality was very very different to every other character so there was not a chance he was ever going to just be cool with the man who utterly broke the love of his life. There was just no way he was going to take it.

The chances of Daniel Molloy calling Marius a nasty old pedo right to his face just increased dramatically to me. It’s not the productive thing to do and it will upset Armand but it’ll be satisfying for us. Vindication after having to suffer through Blood and Gold. Call him exactly what he is.
