perhaps a hot take but i feel like antis calling proship "white people stuff" and insisting that proshippers are all white is definitely... very racist.

because most of us aren't. especially on tiktok and twitter, a lot of proshippers are POC (especially asian, there's so many japanese & Chinese proshippers). insisting we're white strictly because you don't like us is weird. it also definitely feels like they imply that they don't believe poc can enjoy darker topics, or engage in BDSM/indulge in more taboo kinks. which is just weird too.

if anything, i think being against censorship and believing in an anti-censorship stance is... the opposite of a "white person" thing 😭?

At this point, antishippers just fucking block me. I’m so sick of antishippers it’s actually not even funny anymore. Their arguments are just strawman nonsense and they’re constantly repeating the same points over and over (protecting kids, “making fun” of serious topics, romanticizing abuse, “it’s all just smut anyway so it doesn’t even contribute to anything!”, etc etc) and don’t even bother to listen to opposing views. Like, IT’S FUCKING FICTION???!!! As long as you’re not hurting REAL PEOPLE OR ANIMALS then you should be able to engage in whatever media you want.

It shouldn’t matter whether you have trauma and want to engage in dark media to feel more normal about what you went through, or if you’re just a regular person who enjoys media with taboo topics, or fuck, if you jerk off to it, WHO CARES???? IT’S NOT EVEN REAL! If it keeps you from assaulting or raping or even killing irl, then pop off! Everyone has at least some curiosity towards topics that are described as “dark” or “taboo” or whatever you want to call it, that’s just in our nature. Like, I get it if you’re upset about people not tagging dark media properly, but as long as authors/creators tag their content with the appropriate context, then JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE! If it’s not for you, and it’s not hurting REAL PEOPLE, then just let the people who do enjoy it do so. Liking certain themes in fiction doesn’t mean you condone it being done irl.

And also on the side note of people with trauma engaging in dark media, they shouldn’t have to disclose that they’re traumatized about xyz in order to justify their media consumption (brought up by one of my friends while we were talking about the topic, tysm <33).
