Cyberscore organized a mass-record-submission event for today (June 2nd), and I was in a funny enough mood to join in! Basically went through a bunch of my video playlists and rounded up un-submitted PBs from them.
Prior to this, I'd only submitted a few records at Cyberscore in the past decade. Although the site isn't perfect, I think the devs have been making steady updates/improvements in recent years, and I gotta appreciate that since it hasn't been easy for me to steadily work on modernizing F-Zero Central (gonna keep trying though).
It's true that "everyone" is at speedrun-dot-com compared to less active, lower budget records sites like CS, FZC, and Sonic Center; but since SRC is both corporate-owned and closed-source, it's important to have some alternatives still up and running. These sites all have somewhat different focuses, as well.
Also, shoutout to lead dev Temper, who helped me change my CS username a little while back and was very affirming about it!

So, I have been told if I have any ideas for CyberScore, I should let the people over at Cyberscore know about my ideas. I know that my ideas won’t get used but I figured I post my list of ideas for CyberScore. :3
1. charts
So, for a while, I seen charts that have times without no proof of any kind and some of these times always seem kind of iffy as some users have records that have not been approved and this can make some new users feel like they can’t reach the top time but fear not. I know you guys have no fear but my ideas. (Can’t wait to get some nice looks for this post)
1.1 Auto delete records
Records that have not been approved by CyberScore mods within a time frame of 30 days, should be deleted. If there is no proof, then 30 days still apply. If there is proof but can’t be found and records have not been approved, then 30 days still apply and giving the user a notice to upload a proof to match his / her record.
1.2 Running a game unpatched or patched
As we know, games of the future, have patches to fix a game and sometimes, patches remove speed tricks or glitches. I feel this makes doing time attacks pretty unfair as users can use an unpatched version of a game to get the upper hand.
An easy way to know if someone has an unpatched game is to do a side by side of times. If someone is able to get a faster time then the rest, then you have your answer.
To fix this, charts that should be marked (unpatched) in challenge charts, if you play un-patched then, you use the unpatched challenge charts for that version of the game and patched for the patched game.
Or make 2 charts for games that are played patched or unpatched, like for Sonic R. There is (No OOB) and normal charts for Sonic R, I feel this could be applied here, but that would take time to make things balanced within charts.
Because, when new users or current users see a record like this. It makes it hard to go for a record that may no longer be possible… And that’s not a fun sight to see. But that varies on the person..
CyberScore is a site where players of all skill levels can be competitive with other players, and even push each other to be better at a game and go past their own limits.
This is why I love CyberScore, it’s a competitive site that I like to upload runs or try to beat someone’s time or score for fun by using my skill. We use skill to have a fair and fun time with others.
1.3 Remove records
Something minor but being able to delete or remove a record of a game that you no longer have from your CyberScore page. It looks out of place when you have a record of a game that you no longer own. With a un-approved proof. It looks ugly and out of place. This feature would be nice but this is kinda a moot point since 1.1 is the same.
I feel as of late, what’s fair and skill has hit a grey area and if, that is the case. What is the point of being of being competitive with people or friends who use glitches that make being competitive fun, a waste of time? That’s just my thoughts on this subject.
Profile stuff
1 Blog update
1.1 I like the blog feature but let’s say someone has a blog outside of CyberScore. Like using Blogger or Wordpress I have not used the Blog feature. A neat idea for the blog tab would be to add your blog hosted by blogger or Wordpress.com to the URL / contact info, which would show the blog through an Iframe or RSS from the blog tab
That’s it really. The other ideas would be to fix the forum Avi issue and add extra contact info but these have already been done or being worked on and the site is getting updates.
Again, these are just my ideas for CyberScore and I know they won’t be used. BUT! That’s ok. I just wanted to share my ideas and what not with you.
So. Had a writer block for months. Not fun but it’s gone. I know where I want to blog on. But, with that out of the way.
So, Cyberscore. it’s your run of the mill competitive site where players from all over the world can try to be the best and have a fun time. Granted, there are others sites that do the same thing. If the game is on the site, then you can try to be the best.
The best thing I like about CyberScore is how friendly and welcoming the community is. Everyone I met is friendly. Even when being competitive, you can see everyone trying their best to do well. This site encourages the user to do well, even if they can’t. And that’s ok. You can always try again later and you might meet some awesome users.
The staff I have met have been pretty cool, and quick to answer most questions I had about the site. That’s amazing for this site. they even have a forum, Discord server, and a Community Twitter that posts updates to the site or add members to their Cyberscore member list, which I am not apart of. Eh. :P Maybe I am not safe on Twitter.
I should note that CyberScore boards for games records, requires you to have a hard copy of a game. Emulation is not supported nor will be supported (As far as I know) so, make sure you have that hard copy of Sonic 3
CyberScore does not have boards for fan game records. CyberScore Aims to have boards for official games released on Consoles (Steam, xbox360, ps3, etc) However, if a fan game ends up on Console, it will be added to the boards. (Assuming games have ways to track records) Sonic Mania but that will be for another time.
Overall, Cyberscore is just another drop in the online sea of competitive sites. But with the community being welcoming and cool. Staff is awesome and respectful of your space. Cyberscore stands out from the rest, and that’s neat.
CyberScore is a nice site that I think anyone can join and have a good time, and post your best times. It’s easy to pick and fun to master. Join the cyber world of the score.
I don’t know how long I plan to be at CyberScore as a user or doing time attacks or score attacks, but should I ever leave the site in the future, it has been a fun ride, but I don’t see myself leaving for a long time
Off topic here - I found CyberScore thanks to HyperSonic7701. When I first found the site. I had the idea of making an account to be his rival, posting some proofs, and the site would die off or close down or I would leave the site. But this was not the case.
Looking back on some things and Individual Levels I have done two years ago and I forgot about some Sonic Forces time attack / score attack videos I did for a site called CyberScore.
I was going to upload these videos and link them on CyberScore but these videos are out of date and I have not touched Sonic Forces in sometime, and I just have no need to head back to do ILS or Individual Levels that and my data I had saved was overridden when I did my first Sonic Forces race.
It's a shame too. I was at one point uploading Ils to post to CyberScore but Sonic related ILS are not fun to do anymore or at least not right now, it's boring to me. I know there are people and friends who get a rush or get a boost from doing ILS.
Proud of that pun. :3 But doing Ils on Cyberscore was fun. Who knows? Maybe I may do ILs in the future at some point for a bit and drop ILS as well but for now, that's done with.
