Wasn't sure if I'd make it, but I managed to get a GX Max Speed PB in 2023!
Beginning of 2022 was when I posted… not just my last GX PB, but my last video. I've just done very infrequent casual streams since then. I hope I can be more present in 2024 than I have been in the last couple of years. Definitely gone through some new challenges though, so right now I'm just thankful for being able to make this mini-comeback.

I'm feeling somewhat settled in my new apartment (after living here about a month) - and don't want to be overly optimistic yet, but feeling like I'm starting to be not as super busy!
Planning to indulge in some streaming tomorrow; just bought and downloaded Mario Wonder.
So, for reasons out of my control, I've been made to move residence again - it hasn't even been 6 months since I finished moving into my current place. Has not been a particularly productive year for me.
The good news is that finding a place went much quicker this time, and so far I'm feeling hopeful about my upcoming arrangement. It's just going to be another busy month with the actual move coming up. After that, I hope I'm able to get into a decent groove during the last 2-3 months of the year.
Aaaand looks like Tweetdeck is finally paid-only. I was still checking that every so often, but now my browsing will be even more haphazard (either the main site's completely scrambled "timeline", or visiting individual profiles).

Trying to keep score on interconnectivity
I can already follow Misskey, Pixelfed, Kbin, and Lemmy accounts from my Mastodon account.
Tumblr and Threads say they want to support ActivityPub, which would let me follow those accounts from Mastodon and vice versa, and might let me consolidate my Mastodon / Tumblr accounts.
Bluesky and Twitter have no intention of supporting ActivityPub, so the only foreseeable way of following those accounts from my current active accounts would be some kind of bridge between protocols.
I was checking out at Target and the employee was wearing a Shadow the Hedgehog shirt. I told her she's got a nice shirt and that Sonic Adventure's one of my favorite games.
Do I say something more if I see her again? Hmm…
I think I have valid reasons for never really feeling comfortable with mobile phones (among them: smooth scrolling gives me mild nausea, phone privacy is hard, data rates are a thing). But it's something that gives me insecurity about not being able to adapt to new developments.
On the other hand, seeing most people around me still clinging to Twitter - or considering Bluesky as the only alternative - is negating all of that insecurity at the moment.
(For real though, hoping to see more cool folks moving to here, or anywhere else really)

My computer mouse's scroll wheel has gotten tight at one point of its rotation. Turned out to be bothersome enough to give me finger strain within a day.
I think avoiding the wheel also gives me mild strain, because going back to dragging tiny scrollbars all the time isn't easy… better prioritize getting a new mouse. Well, at least this one (Anker) lasted me 9 years somehow.

Got around to updating the F-Zero AX locations map yesterday. Some of the updates in the past 2 months:
The state of Nuevo Leon in Mexico gained one and lost one. The old one (Playland in Monterrey) was last confirmed 2008, so not unexpected. The new one is in a new barcade called La Horda
Psychic Drive's machines were at Summer Games Done Quick in May-June
Ikebukuro's Mikado reconfirmed
Anderson, CA, USA reconfirmed
Circus Circus Adventuredome machine reconfirmed (and Midway-arcade machines confirmed in April)
Round 1 in Wakayama doesn't have AX anymore as of early 2022
Noticed Spain's Mikado has been temporarily closed. They've been posting their progress towards reopening on social media
Noticed that Vinpearl Land in Vietnam got renamed to VinWonders; AX still hasn't been reconfirmed since 2017 though

Cyberscore organized a mass-record-submission event for today (June 2nd), and I was in a funny enough mood to join in! Basically went through a bunch of my video playlists and rounded up un-submitted PBs from them.
Prior to this, I'd only submitted a few records at Cyberscore in the past decade. Although the site isn't perfect, I think the devs have been making steady updates/improvements in recent years, and I gotta appreciate that since it hasn't been easy for me to steadily work on modernizing F-Zero Central (gonna keep trying though).
It's true that "everyone" is at speedrun-dot-com compared to less active, lower budget records sites like CS, FZC, and Sonic Center; but since SRC is both corporate-owned and closed-source, it's important to have some alternatives still up and running. These sites all have somewhat different focuses, as well.
Also, shoutout to lead dev Temper, who helped me change my CS username a little while back and was very affirming about it!
