#5 – Fatima Siad

Before her makeover Fatima would have faded into the background. She looked off, the hair colour didn’t suit her skin tone, and the style looked out of place. You could still tell she was a beautiful girl, but definitely not a model. Suddenly though when she got given the long black weave her look just clicked, she became a supermodel. Her skin became all the more radiant, she had this beautiful attitude to her. The long black weave is always one of the best makeovers to give, and Fatima is a shining example of that. Her look just became so fashionable, but didn’t lose her roots in the process. In terms of body too she had a great stature. Maybe not suitable for some types of modelling, but she was tall and long, and on a runway she looked so fitting. Post show she has continued to constantly prove how strong her look was, easily becoming one of the shows biggest success stories. I may not have always been her biggest fan, and her look didn’t always translate on the show, but I am doubtful there is a person alive (or at least one I would want to associate with) that wouldn’t find Fatima truly stunning.

To be honest, neither did I until I went looking for a list of all the Asian ANTM contestants. Apparently she is half-Filipino.

Am I the only one who think Celia from cycle 12 looks like Lacey from Rock of Love pre makeover?

I had no clue who Lacey was before this question, but I can definitely see the similarities. The same strong jawline. I always forgot Celia came in with long hair to be honest, the short was so good on her that it just always seemed to be that way for me, though looking at some of her shots of now, she looks gorgeous with this hairstyle too. Such a beautiful face.

I’m rewatching cycle 10 cause when I first watched it I was like 13 and I get so annoyed at everyone who can’t say Katarzyna’s name the right way. Like, it’s so simple. At one point they didn’t care. It’s like they erased her identity. WHY?

I have recently gotten into cycle 6 of AuNTM and can I just say this cycle is a fucking mess. Amanda and Kelsey were so damn inconsistent. I didn't care for Sophie but by the end I was kind of rooting for her. Also, she reminds me of Dominique from ANTM a little bit on cycle 10. Then there's Jessica who got to top 4 when she was just kind of there the whole cycle. Kathryn had my favorite look but she was a bit overhyped, I will admit. Also, her walk was jank. Lastly, Joanna was ROBBEEEDDDDDD!!!!

Okay there are definitely some things I agree about, but Cycle 6 is probably my favourite cycle of NTM ever, possibly tied with Cycle 7 of AusNTM. Even its flaws, like some of those you mentioned, are on a lesser scale than other cycles.

Amanda was definitely inconsistent. She was a gorgeous girl, but right from the start it was up and down (though I she still never produced a bad shot, it was just the cycle was so much stronger than a normal one). Kelsey towards the end definitely filtered off, to good, but not great.

Sophie was definitely a weird character. I remember hating her for the first half. The way she dealt with her makeover was annoying, and she just seemed so combative. Then after she confronted Kimberly at the swimwear challenge I began to love her. She was definitely my favourite personality at the end, and I can totally see comparing her to Dominique. She was like boisterous, but in such an entertaning way. I just wish her modelling had been up to scratch, as while she took some great photos, I was never 100% sold on her.

The other thing I 100% agree with: Joanna was totally robbed. At that point she was my front runner. Great walker, strong look and consistently good portfolio. I can’t believe she was cut at 6. Amanda and Kelsey definitely should have gone that week.

As for the stuff I agree a little bit less on…Jessica. I loved Jessica. Story wise she did sort of just survive somehow, but I adored her portfolio. Her denim, Tokyo and lingerie shots were all among my favourites. Even her weaker shots were gorgeous. I also totally feel Kathryn deserves all the praise. Her portfolio was incredible, and she never took a bad shot for me. Plus it wasn’t like she got by. Every compliment paid to her came with a but, regarding her look, and ability to walk.

I’m sorry if this was a lot. I just have so many opinions on this cycle, as I love it so much (especially the photoshoots. Please tell me you don’t think those were a mess).

God, if I were in Khrystyana’s position, I wouldn’t have been able to handle the photo shoot with all the hands over me. As someone who has been in a similar situation before (molested at 11), feeling hands on your body, especially where they touched you is just. . . Hard to deal with emotionally. It can send you into a panic attack. Not to mention un-repressing a memory. That’s emotionally exhausting.

My respect for Khrystyana has shot up enormously after that episode. I know the whole brief was supporting, but it just felt of poor taste, especially in Khrys’ shot. But again, my respect for her fighting through. She is proving week after week that she is a strong, yet gracious competitor. When she ends up winning, without a doubt she will be one of the sweetest, most genuinely likable, and strongest winners we have had ever. And if she ends up getting Anya’d (which is becoming worrylingly possible) I will be totally irrate.
