I’ll say the size of the title is alright, but keep in mind that if you make it smaller, you’ll create a lot of empty space on the top.

My answers:

1) favorite color?

Green - a nice, deep shade of green.

2) what are the top 5 places you want to travel to in your lifetime?

In no particular order: Portland, Ireland, New Zealand, San Francisco, and Colorado.

3) if you could say one thing to the world what would it be?

You matter. Treat yourself like it, treat each other like it.

4) knee socks or ankle? (Or bare feet?)

I like the normal socks. I'm not even sure what they're called. Crew cut? Regular sock-length socks? The ones that don't stop right at your ankles or go all the way up to your knees. Those ones.

5) what song did you last listen to over and over and over?

I'm not actually sure what the last song I did that with was, but I have a few go-to over-and-over-and-over songs that I binge every once in a while: I Can't Decide by The Scissor Sisters, Ain't No Rest for the Wicked by Cage the Elephant, Pieces by Andrew Belle, and Maps by Hey Ocean! to name a few.

6) favorite childhood memory?

When I was really young, maybe three or four, my mom made my dad a stuffed turtle with her sewing machine. I was fascinated with its button eyes, and I kept poking at them and touching them until I accidentally ripped one off. I was afraid my dad would be upset that I'd broken his turtle (after all, one of the first things he'd taught me was "if it's not yours, don't touch it"), but when he saw how much I liked the turtle he told me I could have it and he let me name it. I named it Turtle.

7) if you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?

I'd have someone help me figure out how to invest half of it so it could keep growing, then I'd take the other half (and whatever I get out of the investments) and go nuts giving it to people. Somebody needs a car so they can get a job or escape a bad home situation or meet someone important to them? Done. Somebody's having trouble taking care of bills or affording food? Covered. Heck, got a book you're dying to read but you're trying to cut back on spending? Let me buy that for you. I cannot express how cool it would be to have enough money that I could just give it out without thinking about it. If that million hasn't all gone to use by the time I die, it's wasted.

8) if you could only be in one fandom, which one would you choose and why?

If being in the fandom includes actually watching the show/reading the books/etc. this is impossibly hard, but if you mean actively participating in the fandom then the MLP fandom for sure. Sure, there are negative elements, but I've made so many good friends through that show. I'll stick with them.

9) political party?

Nope. Not interested in any of them. All I care about is who the candidate is as an individual and what they plan to do if they're elected.

10) what is your favorite piece of art? (Define art however you please)

I'm absolutely taken with The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Not only is it art, it's a story about art and how we interact with and create it and it's beautiful and metaphorically rich and just fantastic.

11) what is one small random thing you wanna do before you die?

I want to go to Steak 'N' Shake during their 2-4 AM happy hour with a couple of friends and get shakes at a ridiculously early hour like a bunch of idiots.

QUESTION POST TAG X2 COMBO

So two people tagged me in their 10 questions posts, so I'm going to combine  both sets of questions and answers in one post. This is one of those things where you're supposed to

First up, the questions from ladyofthewittyremarks:

1. What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?

There are a few defining moments that come to mind here - when I first came to Lake Ann Camp, the first time I went to Chicago, my time at Moody - but really everything that's happened to me has had a part in putting me where I am right now, and that's awesome, so I guess the best thing that has ever happened to me was being born. None of the other wonderful and terrible things that make up my life could have happened otherwise.

2. What worries you most about your future?

I do my best not to worry about the future, because I've found over and over that the less time I spend planning and fretting over the future the better it turns out, but I do worry sometimes that I'll never actually achieve any of my goals and I'll just sort of slide by with the minimum effort in life.

3. What is your favourite book AND why?

There are so many contenders, but the prize goes to The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I've never read a book that more accurately portrays the joys and trials and dangers of making and loving and sharing art, and the story itself is simply beautiful aside from the subtext. I read the whole thing on the way to a convention in Ohio in 2012 and it blew me away, and it was even better when I read it again last summer.

4. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? If not, what kind of pet would you like?

I have a gray cat named Radar. When she was a kitten her ears were enormous compared to her body size, hence the name, and even though she's grown into them now the name remains. She's an idiot, but she's cute about it so it all turns out okay.

5. What is your dream job?

I want to be an author. That's all I've ever wanted to do since I was maybe seven years old, live in Chicago and write novels. The way I see it that's either a sure sign I'm supposed to do that or I'm hopelessly deluded. Either way I'm gonna go for it.

6. Describe your dream home, or if you can’t do that just one room from it or something I don’t know whatever makes you happy.

I just want to live somewhere small and clean with plenty of windows. There just needs to be room for me and my cat and a desk and a bookshelf, the rest is icing on the cake. Though a quality view of Chicago and Lake Michigan would be great, so the higher up the better.

7. What is your favourite tumblr post of all time?

This one. Hnwhuffl hhnnwfl hnfl hfl?

8. Who is your favourite youtuber? If you don’t have one, just name a favourite celebrity.

John and Hank Green, no contest. Those two are my heroes, and not just because John is a big-time successful author. They're passionate and motivated and caring and they use their fame for good at every chance they get, and that's exactly the kind of person I hope to be.

9. What is your favourite color? If you can, say why.

I love a deep, forest green. Probably because I love deep forests, plus it's just a nice, soothing color.

10. What is one thing that never fails to make you smile every time you think of it?

I could say something sentimental, but the honest answer is this, my second favorite Tumblr post. Oh, Crowrey.

1. If you could completely and fluently know any other language for a day, what would it be and how would you spend that day?

Oh man, I can't choose. I'm tempted to go with French so I can play OFF in the original language. Yes, I am fully aware of how lame that is. Maybe I could read Les Mis in the original language after that to make up for it. Though I'd have to read SUPER HARD to pull that off...

2. What’s your favorite saying or word and why?

For some reason I've been really fond of the word "brobdingnagian". Probably because it's weird and neat and mostly pointless. It just means "gigantic", which is easier to say, spell, and remember.

3. What’s your favorite food, and would you be adverse to trying it with chocolate sauce or something on it?

Trick question, my favorite food IS chocolate. Pile that sauce on, let's go.

4. What’s your least favorite book/movie/whatever and what’s so wrong with it/why don’t you like it?

I tried reading Unwind by Neal Shusterman once. I know it's super well-reviewed and generally loved by readers, but I could not get into it. The premise is just ridiculous. Even if I could believe that pro-life and pro-choice factions would go to war when they're both pretty much agreed that killing is not okay (even if they're very much at odds over the definition of the term), I can't just suspend my disbelief and accept that anyone would ever agree to a "compromise" that violates the principles of both sides. "Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child 'unwound'." So all life is sacred during childhood but we can kill all the teens that disappoint us? Nobody is getting what they want here. Nobody would ever agree to that. Nobody would think that was a good idea. There is absolutely no way that could become the basis for a society. Plus there was just some totally ridiculous science stuff like a guy who got a hand from an unwound kid and could flawlessly perform magic tricks just with that hand "because of muscle memory". Yeah, sure. That's how that goes. After a few chapters of general disappointment I decided to predict the end, skip ahead, and read the last page. If I was right I'd give up on the whole thing and if not I'd keep reading. I predicted the MC would get involved in some resistance movement and come to the conclusion that both sides are kind of right and kind of wrong. As I recall it ends with him giving a speech to his resistance people about how all life is precious but we should also get to decide what happens to our bodies. So yeah, I never finished it.

5. If you had no choice but to teach someone who can’t get an official education one single thing they need in life, what subject and/or philosophy would you teach them?

I would teach them how to read, and in the process I'd do my best to teach them to love it. From there, they could teach themselves whatever they wanted to know. 6. If you could go back and redo any day what day would you redo, why would you go back to it, and what would you do differently? Alternatively, why would you purposefully not redo that day?

I don't want to go back and redo anything in my life because there's no way of knowing how drastically that would change my present and I don't want to change my present. I'm happy with my life the way I've lived it so far, mistakes and all. 7. If you could only choose one career for the rest of your life that you’re currently able to obtain (regardless of whether it’s your dream or not), what would it be and why?

AUTHOR 8. If you could pick one season for your local area to permanently be in (including if you move, so that anywhere you move to will be stuck in that season the next time it hits while any old places go back to normal seasons) what season would it be and why?

Fall. The weather is amazing, the trees smell incredible, the world just feels more alive. I love fall. 9. If you had the chance to go back in time and impart one single sentence of advice or wisdom to one of your younger selves, what age would you visit and what would you say?

Same objection as the time travel one, but aside from that, if I have to go back, I'd sit my 19-year-old self down and make him watch the "just because she likes the same bizarro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soulmate" scene from (500) Days of Summer a hundred times on a loop while I stared at him, unblinking. Then I would just quietly leave. 10. If someone forced you to change your name, what would you change it to?

I think it would be fun to be called Stanley.
