feeling sick thinking about Hawai‘i after its most recent tsunami watch. Luckily there was no tsunami but it is harrowing to hear about friends and family talking about the ordeal of trying to evacuate to safe zones while thousands of tourists and outsiders treat it like a joke while causing all the traffic and taking up all the space in the shelters.

Nobody thinks about the everyday harm of colonization, the exploitation and erasure of culture. But especially nobody thinks of the immediate danger of it either. Even after the Lahaina fires, nobody cares. People died and tourists took up the resources and locals were left with no home to be prey to predators who wanted to buy their land. Who knows how many people could’ve been hurt in a real life tsunami scenario due to overpopulation of haoles causing traffic and taking up space and resources that doesn’t belong to them. You’re all selfish people endangering my loved ones.
