The person whose photo he reblogged is his boyfriend who loves KCD2. He started playing it as soon as it came out and Richard watched him play through it 🫠 (R. talks about it in one of his interviews).

Also as you probably know Ptáček is Capon’s name in Czech.

Guuys. Dan Vavra talked about the friendship between actors of Janosh Uher and Adder from KCD2🥹💫💞

I’m also sending this recent interview right away because I thought it was really cute :) and I think Slovaks and Czechs will probably find it funny^^

This first video is a random interview with Lukáš Latinák (actor and voice actor of Janosh Uher), where his KCD2 character is mentioned. He talks about how Dan Vavra specifically wanted him for this role. (Btw Lukáš has actually mentioned it several times before - that when Dan had the character of Janosh in mind, he wanted to cast Lukáš and to no one else.)

While Lukáš talks about his character Janosh and his experiences, without being asked by the interviewer, he mentions his friend the Polish character Adder and explains that he is the only who understands him😊

Overall it’s a very funny and cute interview. Around the 24-minute mark, the part about KCD2 starts and continues until the end of the interview.

In the second video Dan talks about how Lukáš told him that he doesn’t speak English at all and that he only wants to do the Czech version (meaning he wanted to read the lines only in Slovak*).

*I’d like to explain this part a bit more in detail so it’s clear why this storyline and their friendship in the game and off-screen feels so wholesome to me :)

Lukáš is Slovak IRL and only speaks Slovak. In the Czech version of the game, his character Janosh also speaks only Slovak.

Czech Republic and Slovakia were “not so long ago” one nation - Czechoslovakia and even though Czechs and Slovaks speak slightly different languages, they understand each other well.

After all, the host of the first interview is Czech and speaks Czech, while Lukáš is Slovak and speaks Slovak and it flows smoothly as u can see. That’s why in the Czech version of KCD2, even when Janosh speaks Slovak, Henry (who is Czech) understands him perfectly well.

And then there is Adder (a Pole).

IRL Slovaks and Poles are well known for having very friendly relations. And even though they don’t speak the same language, when they get drunk or talk to each other slowly enough they somehow understand each other. The same goes for Czechs & Poles 🤝

Different languages, similar culture and similar low-brow sense of humour.

I think Dan wanted to transfer this chemistry into the game. To show that as nations we understand each other (as friends) even though we don’t really understand each other at all (linguistically).

At least not with Poles. As I mentioned, Czech and Slovak are very similar languages.

And now let’s move on to the second video.

So Dan talks about how Lukáš told him that he doesn’t speak English at all and that he only wants to do the Czech version (meaning he wanted to read the lines only in Slovak).

Dan is talking about how he could have hired an English voice actor, but he wanted Lukáš to voice the English version as well. BC he's funny person irl (actor/comedian) and he has done a lot of satirical and improv performances in male groups. He has strong, long-term male friendships. (There were several TV shows in Slovakia where this was clearly visible.) Originally, his character Janosh was supposed to speak complex sentences, almost Shakespearean according to Dan. Which Lukáš absolutely could not handle (in english).

So instead of hiring an English voice actor, Dan had the entire character of Janosh rewritten just so Lukáš could stay and voice the English version too. So he turned his lines into simple "rural-style" English that Lukáš would be able to read.

The role of Adder was cast with Polish actor Konrad Eleryk, a very talented and very well-known actor in Poland as Dan said in the video. Then he continues that during filming, Konrad and Lukáš instantly clicked, and that they mostly just talked to each other, because - BRACE YOURSELF - IRL really no one understood Konrad except for Lukáš! 😁

It turned out (by pure coincidence!) that Lukáš besides Slovak also speaks Polish, while no one else on the crew did. So basically, (in Dan's words) the chemistry and dynamic he wanted between Adder and Janosh in the game ended up happening in real life on set between Lukáš and Konrad and they just transferred it straight into the game 🤌

Dan also mentioned that Konrad and Lukáš alone discussed how to deliver some of the jokes and adapted the script to suit their style. <3

I follow almost all Czech and Slovak interviews about the characters and their actors, but I hadn’t heard this information until today. I decided to share it right away bc.. 🥹 :)
