Daily Fixation: Dolce & Gabbana Neckwear
Dolce & Gabbana Green Silk Satin Tie - $169 at Luisa Viaroma
I've always been a big advocate for classic modernism, which I find to be best captured by Dolce & Gabbana neckwear. If you're lucky enough to own one of these envious pieces, you know exactly what I am talking about. There's something fabulously unique about purchasing one. It comes perfectly packaged in one of the label's sleek, black tie cases. When you start to pull your newly procured piece, you first feel the incredible fabric. It is smooth, soft, and has a breathtaking sheen. You then proceed to pull the entire piece out from its packaging, and you notice that it's quite a bit skinnier than you expected, 4 cm sounds like a typical skinny tie, but it's really more of a fashion forward strip of fabric. You might read that and perceive that to be a deterring factor, but the surprise is what makes this piece so great. You try it on, and you truly understand the invaluable uniqueness that a tie of this caliber holds. When I purchased mine via telephone, it was accompanied by a handwritten note from the sales associate I had worked with, Luis. Maybe that comes with every piece you order, maybe the note was only written because I had spent literally hours with the Beverly Hills store, trying to find the tie in red. Maybe the struggle I went through to get the piece is one of the reasons I hold it so dear, but I know one thing. There are ties and ties of all sorts, but Dolce & Gabbana is the ladder.
