Part 6 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10)
They had chosen to do house chores. After all, they would be the ones staying at home most of the time. I was happy to have a maid- I mean, a roommate. The good thing was that my house was big enough for plenty of people to live in, as it was inherited from my grandparents.
The D.D.D. agent left a while ago to arrange some things; I don't remember very well what they said they were going to do but I didn'tactually care. All of the residents were in their rooms except four, one being the milkman who was working a double shift. Meanwhile, both of the twins and Angus had left for a business trip, though the twins were expected to arrive sometime this week.
It was almost time to end my shift; I just needed to approve Francis while waiting, strangely, Mr. Schmicht arrive to the window, even though he wasn't on the entry list. "Maybe he had an emergency with his new book," I thought as I looked at Mr. Schmicht's ID and didn't see anything bad. I quickly started looking at the entry request.
Arnold - "You seem to be in a hurry."
"Yeah, you see, I'll be taking care of a very special friend," I said happily.
Arnold - *menacingly* "So that traitor survived?"
I was about to open the door when I heard him say that and completely stopped. "Sorry, what?" I said, confused and hoping I misheard him.
'Arnold' - *angry* "I asked if that traitor survived?"
"Yes, he did, and I won't let you hurt him ever again!" I said, angrily.
'Arnold' - *angry* "Tch, this messes up all our plans, dammit!" *hits the glass* "How? How is that rat still alive? He was supposed to die either by those damn yellow suit bastards or by the many injuries he had!"
"It seems you failed; serves you right for trying to kill him. And you know what? For doing that, I'll start calling the D.D.D. on all doppelgängers," I said with a smirk.
'Arnold' - *angry* "I don't care about the others, but I will tell you this, you better—" *interrupted*
“I think you are barking at the wrong tree. After all, it is you who should be careful because now *stands up and leans toward the window* I will be hunting you down like the prey that you are. So be careful, little doppelgänger. Make sure to always look behind you because if you don't, I, WILL, CATCH, YOU” I said with a smirk. I could tell that they remembered those words; after all, it was the exact same threat they had told me, and that only made them mad.
'Arnold' - *angry and banging on the window* “This is not over, you dumb human! I'll make sure to get both you and your little friend, and make both of you—” *interrupted*
I didn't let him finish and pressed the red button, which quickly put the shield down. I could hear them screaming at me. I quickly called the D.D.D., but by the time they arrived, the doppelgänger was long gone.
This time I didn't hide myself; instead, I held my ground. “I swear I'll kill you,” I thought as the D.D.D. started to patrol the perimeter. After everything was done and the D.D.D. agents were gone, an hour later, Francis arrived.
Francis - “Hello, Y/N. How has your day been?”
“Good. I received word that Hoon is getting released. He will be staying with me,” I said with a big smile.
Francis - “That's good to hear, but remember to be careful, okay? Also, if you ever need help with him, just call me, and I'll help,”
“Thanks, Francis, but a D.D.D. agent will be staying with me just in case. But to be honest, Hoon would never attack me,” I said, smiling.
Francis - “Mmm, so someone will be protecting you? That's good, but still, remember to call me in case of anything, alright?”
“Yup,” I said as I let him in. “This day ended well. Now I know who to hunt,” I thought as I started leaving the office.
Upon arriving home, I saw a truck parked in front of my house, my house lights were also on “He is here, finally” I thought as I parked in my usual spot and headed inside.
As I opened the door, I was suddenly greeted by someone hugging me. I managed to catch myself before I fell over and saw that it was Hoon.
Hoon - *happy* “Hoon! Hoon!”
D.D.D. Agent - “Hey, you're back! Great, I just bought food, so let's eat!”
Hoon happily led me to the dinner table, and for the first time in a while, I really enjoyed the food. “I feel as if everything is okay now,” I thought as I listened to Hoon happily 'talk'.
I like to think that when Noseless Afton gets the D.D.D called on him, he just says fuck it and tries to beat the shit out of the D.D.D agents, Ironically doing more damage to him than he does to them.
Note - Sorry for not posting for a while. I've been busy with schoolwork and tests, and I've also had writer's block. But I'm back, and I hope you enjoy this part.
A little side note - This is my first time writing a fight scene, I hope it turned out well.
Warning ⚠️ - This part includes fighting, hitting, broken bones, mentions of blood (sort of), injuries, and fainting.
Part 8 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 9, Part 10)
~•~Y/N's POV~•~
After dinner, we all gather in the living room where Hoon had made a mess of all the stuff that my grandparents had. Hoon was currently happily showing everyone photos of me from when I was a little kid.
I was happy to finally have some peace and calm after everything that had recently happened. “How I wish that it'll always be this peaceful,” I thought as Hoon grabbed my grandmother's favorite album.
“Be careful with that one; Grandma loved those photos,” I said and saw how Hoon carefully handled the book.
We stayed like that for an hour or two, then we all went to sleep. Francis had to stay with us for the night. “I hope tomorrow is a peaceful day too,” I thought as I lay down, but I just couldn't sleep. So, I decided to go to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
As I got to the kitchen, I saw that someone else was there. It was Francis. “Hey, you also can't sleep?” I said as I entered the kitchen.
Francis - “Yeah, it's usually like this for me.”
“You should see a doctor,” I said as I drank water.
Francis - *chuckles* “I don't have time; a lot of work to do.”
We both stayed quiet for a while, just feeling comfort in the peaceful atmosphere.
Francis - “Are you okay?”
“… No, you see, I'm worried. I just can't deal with all of this. A few months ago, I was just doing odd jobs and had nothing to worry about. But now I have to worry about everything. I have to protect the whole apartment while also trying to protect myself. It's just too much, and I don't think I'm doing a good job,” I said as I felt all the pressure of the world on my shoulders.
I felt Francis giving me a side hug and patting my back.
Francis - “Don't worry; you are doing an excellent job. Even after many months, no doppelgängers have entered the apartment, and that's thanks to you. So, don't give up.”
I felt more relaxed by his words. After a bit, we both went back to our rooms, and I thought about what he said. I felt happy. “Yeah, I'm the one who has been keeping everyone safe. I should probably go to sleep now; tomorrow is a workday,” I thought as I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
The next day was the same routine, though this time we had Francis, so it was a bit more fun. He looked like a walking zombie while his counterpart was happily moving around, helping both of us get ready.
I drove Francis to his work van, and after that, I went back to the apartment. After getting in and starting my shift, I saw the twins coming in. “Agh, it's too early to deal with them,” I thought as I saw Elenois coming to the window, with a baggage. She passed me her papers without saying anything, though she did have a tired look. “I guess their trip was very tiring,” I thought as I checked her papers very carefully.
Selenne - “Can you hurry up!” *annoyed*
“Shut up!” I said as I looked through the ID. I could hear her complaining under her breath. I confirmed that everything was fine, and was about to let Elenois in.
Selenne - *scared* “Ahhhh!”
I was about to shut her up but stopped when I saw why she screamed; it was two doppelgängers, but worse, one of them was the one that had been attacking everyone, the one who had attacked Mr. Cappuccin. The most aggressive one was the one who looked like Elenois, but instead of a normal face, it had very big and sharp teeth, while the other one was the version of Izaack but melting, he wasn't too aggressive, but now it appear he was.
“Selenne, get your butt over here!” I yelled and opened the door. Elenois quickly went and grabbed her sister's hand and started running towards the door, leaving their baggages behind. The doppelgängers quickly went after those two. The moment Elenois got to the door and opened it, I switched to lock the door, grabbed the taser, and ran outside.
Elenois got inside, but before Selenne could, the doppelgänger grabbed her by her hair and pulled her back. Elenois was about to go out, but I stopped her. “Elenois! Go to the office and take control. I'll deal with these doppelgängers. After your sister gets inside, call the D.D.D!” I said firmly, and Elenois, still panicking, nodded and ran to the office.
I opened the door and saw the sharp-teeth doppelgänger dragging Selenne. I turned the taser on. “Hey! Leave her alone!” I yelled and ran towards them. I plunged the taser into the sharp-teeth doppelgänger's neck. She released Selenne, and the other doppelgänger was about to grab her again, but Selenne hit him straight in the face with her bag, knocking down the melting doppelgänger. Sharp-teeth was also knocked back by the taser.
“Selenne, run and put the alarm!” I yelled, and she quickly dropped her bag and ran towards the door, which opened the moment she got there. After a few seconds, the whole building went into lockdown. I grabbed Selenne's bag, which was pretty heavy, and got ready to fight.
The flickering red lights gave the situation a very eerie atmosphere, the only sound being the alarm indicating the current problem. I wiped the sweat from my forehead, feeling a little scared, but I quickly threw that feeling away, knowing that I needed to survive.
Melting face was the first to recover, but he didn't lunge at me. I turned just in time to see sharp-teeth rush at me with claws in her hands. I quickly ducked, barely missing the sharp claws. In one swift motion, I drove my elbow into the doppelgänger’s ribs, feeling them break.
I suddenly felt pain on my side as the other doppelgänger’s claws scratched my arm. I gasped, feeling so much pain but forced myself to stay upright. I spun, turning on the taser and lunging it into the attacker’s side. The doppelgänger fell to the ground.
The room spun as I struggled to keep up, all of my muscles screaming to stop, but I knew I couldn't, not until the D.D.D. arrived. I blocked a claw swing with my forearm, wincing at the pain, and retaliated with a swing to their stomach with the bag. The doppelgänger gasped, stumbling back, and I seized the moment to catch my breath.
"I can do it," I told myself, eyes darting between the two doppelgängers. I felt myself starting to get dizzy and very tired. The next attack came fast and hard – a coordinated assault from both sides. I dodged left, narrowly avoiding a claw swing, and countered with a low kick to the knee, making the melting one fall.
The sharp-teeth doppelgänger grabbed my arm, twisting it painfully. I bit back a scream, using my free hand to deliver a crushing blow to their throat. Their grip loosened, and I yank myself free, adrenaline fueling my every move.
Breathing heavily, I stood as the doppelgängers quickly recovered, every inch of my being aching. The fight wasn't over yet – not until the D.D.D arrived. It was hard; they were stronger than me, and my taser was almost out of power. As I gasped for air, the melting one grabbed my arms and held them painfully. Then I heard the other one behind me. I moved my head and saw the sharp claws coming near my face.
I quickly moved my head, dodging the blow to my face but not to my body. The claws went down my back, breaking skin. I screamed and with all my strength, I pulled away from the melting face, turned the taser on, and plunged it into the sharp teeth. My vision was starting to blur.
I heard footsteps. I looked behind the doppelgängers and saw the yellow suits; the D.D.D had finally arrived. The doppelgängers turned their attention to them and started to attack, but unlike me, the agents were professionals and far stronger, so they easily won. I smiled, and suddenly, my world went dark.
Note - Finally done! I feel like this chapter was a little fast (and it is) but oh well hope you guys enjoyed this series, I have something pretty cool prepare for September.
Part 11 End (Par 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10)
After that day, everything changed for the better. The doorman was captured and imprisoned. Not only had he been charged with allowing a doppelgänger in, but he was also held accountable for provoking and endangering the residents.
Now, a D.D.D. agent was the new doorman. Since my friends had to come out of hiding to stop me, they were also captured. Fortunately, thanks to the residents' petitions, they weren't killed and were instead released. As for me, I was placed under observation in a hospital, along with Angus and Franciss, since both had gotten hurt.
Fortunately, Angus and I were in the same room, mostly because he wouldn’t stop being a menace until he was placed with me. Steven visited often, trying to keep us updated, and to my surprise, even some of the other residents came by. Franciss, once he was able to move, would also come and stay in our room. I discovered that he was the first person I had attacked.
As the days went by, I made friends with the neighbors I had never interacted with before. Rafttellyn and Alf were kind enough to bring me some “get well soon” flowers and even did a mini tie party, while the Peachman brothers entertained us with stories about their shoe business, always filled with amusing anecdotes about their mini fights and arguments. Steven's dad, Mclooy, visited us as well; he is a very talkative man, always sharing tales of his youth and amazing adventures.
Time passed quickly, and soon I was fully healed, just like Angus and Franciss. Once the doctor gave me the release date, a D.D.D. agent entered the room, prompting the doctor to make a quick exit, leaving only the agent behind.
Agent - “Good to see that both of you are completely healed. Now, I will explain what is going to happen, and none of you can object or argue, alright?”
I nodded, but Angus nor Franciss did.
Angus - *smiling* “I’d like to hear what you have to say before I make a decision.”
Agent - *whispering* “A true businessman. *speaking normally* Alright, regarding the doppelgänger, not only did you hurt two residents and five D.D.D. agents, but you also caused some damage to the building. Because of that, you will be put in a program and continue pretending to be Y/N.”
“W-what!?” I exclaimed in surprise. I had expected them to lock me up, but the idea of going back was shocking.
Franciss - “What’s the catch?”
Agent - “Well, a D.D.D. member will have to stay in the building to ensure it's truly safe. But besides that, there are no real consequences; after all, it wasn’t entirely the doppelgänger's fault.”
“B-but why? I thought the D.D.D. agency would kill me or capture me,” I said, fidgeting with my fingers.
Agent - “Well normally we would, but there were a lot of petitions requesting your release, and thanks to the news, the story spread all around the world. It's the topic everyone is talking about, which worked in your favor. Additionally, you lasted two months without hurting anyone, which strengthens your case. The D.D.D. actually wants to experiment with you to see how a doppelgänger works and all that scientific stuff.”
Angus - “Experiment?”
Agent - “Well, sort of. It’s more like they want to conduct a few tests. You see, two months ago, the doppelgängers became much more aggressive, so they want Y/N's help to repel them or keep them at bay.”
“Well, either way, I don’t have a choice, so I might as well enjoy this outcome,” I said, a small smile forming on my face.
Angus - *worried* “Are you sure? I don't think those D.D.D. agents will hold back in their experiments.”
“Don't worry; I'm stronger than I seem,” I replied, showing my claws.
Franciss - “That's true. I experienced it firsthand.”
“I'm sorry!” I exclaimed, quickly covering my claws and feeling awful for what I had done to Franciss.
Agent - “Well, my job here is done. It was nice to see all of you looking better.”
Soon, the day came when we were finally released. We arrived at the apartment, and it didn’t look any different. I took a deep breath and entered.
As I stepped into my apartment, it was just as I had left it, but someone was there, a doublegänger. I quickly unsheathed my claws and was about to attack whoever it was when I was grabbed, even before I could do any real damage.
Hoon - *smiling* “Yup, this is how it was supposed to have been last time.”
“Hoon!” I exclaimed, quickly hugging him. I looked behind him and saw that everyone else was there too. “How are all of you here? Wait, how did you guys even get here?” I asked, surprised to see them.
Sticky - “The agent told us that we now live here. Well, not in this room, but like you, we were put under the same rules. Some others are in different buildings.”
Peach - *hugging me* “Peach!”
“It's nice to see you too! But wait, how did they find you? And what do you mean by living here?” I asked, still hugging Peach.
Hoon - “It's a bit of a long story, but in short, we were being followed, and we got discovered. Thanks to the news spreading everywhere, a lot of doppelgängers also gave up, hoping for the same outcome you had. So now the D.D.D. agency is creating a program to ‘rehabilitate’ doppelgängers. Though the other half of the doublegängers continue to fight and be against this change”
I was about to say something when Stitch covered my mouth, probably not wanting me to overthink things or ask any more questions. I smiled and looked behind Hoon, noticing half-eaten frozen dinners. “Time to show what I learned,” I thought smugly.
*Moving Stitch’s hand away* “Guys, that's not how you eat those dinners!” I said with a smile
Sticky - “What do you mean? You just need to open them, right?”
I smiled and began explaining how they should have eaten them. “You guys have a lot to learn, but don't worry; I'll help,” I said with a grin. They nodded, finally, we were truly safe.
Note - So much for peaceful fluff chapters, anyway yeah, I don't feel like this chapter is that graphic or that bad but it may just be me, so anyone who is sensitive or doesn't like that type of stuff then ignore this chapter, or go to the very end to see what happen, I'll put a ♤ so that from there you can read it. Also, this chapter is the longest I've ever written.
Part 10 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 11)
After that day, I was never at peace anywhere. I tried to pretend that everything was okay, but everyone could see that I wasn't. I didn't interact with anyone, choosing to stay inside my apartment. I avoided Angus and anyone who attempted to approach me. For a while, I refrained from going out to give my friends food, trying to keep to myself, knowing they would immediately discover what was going through my mind.
I became more and more distant as the days went by; I didn't feel like I could trust anybody. Slowly, I woke up and began getting ready. I quickly left my apartment, aware that Angus or Steven would certainly be there any moment.
As I arrived at the front office, I heard several footsteps, but I kept walking. Suddenly, I was stopped by a horrible sound that pierced my ears, making me drop to my knees and scream.
Just as it arrived, it left. I noticed that my claws were out, and I could feel my horns as well. I started to try to calm myself down, hoping no one has seen me.
??? - “See, there's the doppelgänger!”
I looked up to see none other than, the doorman, pointing at me while a swarm of D.D.D. agents surrounded me. I realized what was happening and tried to stand up and run away, but the agents were faster. They quickly held me down and placed cuffs on me, making my movements difficult, they added more bindings around me.
I looked around and noticed that some residents were in the front lobby, being stopped by agents who prevented them from coming close to me. I could see and hear Angus struggling to reach me, held back by the agents and Steven, who was trying to protect him from getting hurt by an agent.
The agents forced me to stand up and, using electric prods, made me walk toward the hallway leading to the building's exit. I glanced at the doorman, who was smiling.
“H-how could you do this to me?” I whispered, loud enough for him to hear. I lowered my head as I struggled against the bindings. When I looked up, I saw a crazed smile on his face.
Doorman - “Ha ha! Did you truly believe that I would ever be friends with a monster like you?”
Agent - *sighs, and whispers* “You are cruel.”
I lowered my head again, feeling pain from their words. Anger began to swell within me; I wanted to erase that smile from his face. “I'll make you pay,” I said, gritting my teeth in rage.
The doorman stepped a little closer to me.
Doorman - *smirking* “I'm waiting.”
Seeing that I didn't act, he returned to his previous position. Just as I was about to be taken away by the D.D.D. agents, the doorman stopped them.
Doorman - “Actually, wait! I have something I want to tell them.”
The agents nodded and made sure the bindings were tied securely so that I wouldn’t be able to harm them. I continued to look down at the floor; I didn’t want to see their disgusting faces.
Doorman - *angry* “This wouldn’t have happened if you had only killed the residents the first day I let you in.”
“W-what?” I said, surprised. Their words forced me to look up at them, and in their face, I saw nothing but disappointment, anger, and wickedness.
Doorman - “Remember when I told you that the reason I let you in was to see what would happen? Well, when you didn’t kill or attack anyone, I felt sad and disappointed.”
“W-what!?” I exclaimed, even more shocked. How could they want the residents dead?
Doorman: “The true reason I let you in was to see their blood splatter all throughout the building! Ha ha! To hear their screams! Ha, ha, HA HA HA!!”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I knew some humans were evil, but I had never expected the one I considered my friend to be this wicked, this demented.
Doorman - *calming down, with a big smile on his face* “But you know, I still want to see that. You don’t know how much I’ve dreamed about it, how much I've wished for you to panic enough to cause a massacre. Yet, you’ve failed me each and every time. *sighs* It doesn't matter. With this—” *he shows a syringe filled with a mysterious substance* “—you will fulfill my greatest wish. You will finally do what you were meant to do.”
I tried to get away, but the bindings restricted my movement, and I couldn't escape. All I could see was their wicked smile and hear their insane laughter. Suddenly, I felt the needle pierce my skin. I screamed in agony, losing track of time; all I felt was pain, and I wanted it to stop.
As the bindings came undone, I quickly extended my claws and began attacking anyone near me. I felt my claws scratch someone, hearing a pained scream.
I couldn't see well; all I saw was red. I couldn’t control my body. I didn’t want to attack anyone, yet my body wouldn’t listen to me. I heard screams, but the only action my body took was to strike out. I felt several shots pierce my body, yet I didn’t stop—I only continued to hurt those humans, those agents. Suddenly, I heard a click and turned around to see a green glow above somewhere.
The door swung open, and my body moved on its own as I immediately entered. Inside, I saw numerous shadows, their faces obscured, and I couldn’t hear what they were saying. In that instant, I attacked the first shadow I encountered.
I heard screams and felt something warm soaking my hands and clothes. The more I attacked, the better I felt. Just as I was about to rip the head off a shadow, I was pushed down. I clawed at whoever was behind me, scratching their back.
Suddenly, my claw was stopped as someone grabbed onto it. I tried to get up and fight against my captor, but in my incoherent state, I couldn’t escape. I could only struggle while hearing someone yell at someone else; I couldn’t comprehend who they were screaming at or what they where saying.
I was about to bite the person holding my claws down when another shadow forced something into my mouth. I bit down hard, tasting the blood of whoever I had bitten, which only made me more aggressive. I didn’t care anymore; I just wanted the pain to go away.
Then, I felt a sharp pain in my neck—more intense than before. I started to scream, releasing all of my pent-up pain; I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤
Gradually, I began to feel tired. The pain started to fade, and I felt sore, but a sense of calm washed over me. I was finally able to stop.
I felt warm, gentle hands, and my vision began to clear. I could finally see.
I saw my friends with tears in their eyes, holding me down, they kept calling my name. I tried to look around, but my head wouldn’t move. I released whoever I had trapped in my mouth, realizing it was Angus. Peach and Stitch let me go too, now they gently holded my hand.
Angus - *crying* “Y/N!”
Hoon: “Y-you're back! *tears sliding down his face* Welcome back.”
Peach - *crying* "Peach!"
I could only smile as I looked around, noticing that half of the people were either crying or relieved. I felt exhausted, and I closed my eyes, finally resting.
Note - Is having the character in the hospital a warning? I honestly don't know when to put warning or when they are truly needed.
Part 9 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 10)
I woke up to a very bright light. I closed my eyes and opened them little by little, getting used to the brightness.
Looking around, I realized I was in a hospital. My whole body was sore, but strangely it didn't hurt. “I'm probably on painkillers,” I thought as I glanced around the room filled with flowers, making it smell very nice.
The door suddenly opened, and a crying Hoon came in. The moment he saw me, he quickly ran towards me and hugged me. Even though it was a bit hard for me, I hugged him back. “Hey Hoon, how are you?” I asked to calm him down. He looked at me and started talking, but I obviously couldn't understand him but something I did know was that he was worried about me. I then saw D enter the room.
D - “Hey, you're still alive?”
Hoon glared at him, and I chuckled. “You won't be able to get rid of me that easily,” I said as I calmed Hoon down. D smiled and got closer with some snacks.
D - “Here, you need to rest. Don't worry about anything.”
“What happened? Like, what's the situation?” I asked as I opened the bag of snacks.
D - “Well, the two doppelgängers were taken care of. The two girls that were in the office were treated for any possible injuries or anything they may need while also being question as to what happened. A D.D.D agent will take over your post for the time being. The residents are all alive and well, and, well, I think that's pretty much it.”
I was happy that everyone was safe and that nothing bad happened. Even if those two twins were annoying, I still wouldn't leave them to die. “Who gave me all of these flowers?” I asked as I looked around and saw the many different types of flowers.
D - “Their from the apartment residents. They came to see you while you were still asleep and left the flowers as a thank-you gift.”
I smiled and thought about everyone and how we all had created a far more friendly relationship than just me being their doorman. Hoon grabbed a vase and showed it to me. I recognized the vase; it was my grandpa's vase, and the flowers were from the backyard. “Is this your gift to me, Hoon?” I asked and took the vase while smelling the flowers. Hoon nodded and hugged me again. I then started to feel pain everywhere, which made me groan.
Hoon quickly let me go and looked at me with worry. “Don't worry, the painkillers just stopped working,” I said and held his hand to comfort him.
D - “If it hurts too much, I'll call the nurse.”
“Nah, don't worry, I can handle it,” I said, and we stayed like that for some time until they had to leave. I rested back, and suddenly the door opened. I looked and saw Francis, out of breath. “Francis? The visiting hours are up,” I said a bit confused.
Francis - *a bit out of breath* “Yeah, I don't care. I wanted to see how you are doing. I got really worried when I went to the apartment and was informed of what happened. I got even more worried from what the twins said.”
“What did they say?” I asked, a bit curious as to what those brats were telling others.
Francis - *sitting near the bed* “They were saying that you fought a bunch of doppelgangers. If I remember correctly, they said it was you against 5 or more doppelgangers. They also said that you fought with only your fists. Oh, and that you were an angel disguised as a devil. And Selenne just couldn't stop talking about how you saved her and how she was so moved by you, among a lot of other things. Elenois was also so grateful, I think she even went the newspaper to make them publish about this matter.”
“They exaggerated everything. I only fought two doppelgängers. And what do they mean by an angel disguised as a devil?” I asked, confused and strangely happy to know more.
Francis - “Well, since you are always fighting with them, they nicknamed you 'devil doorman.'”
“No wonder! Mia once accidentally called me devil and was about to say something else, but she stopped herself and quickly entered the building. So that's what was happening—freaking brats. Next time, I'll personally hand them over to the doppelgängers,” I said angrily while Francis chuckled. The door then opened, and a nurse came in.
Nurse - *confused, looking at Francis* “What? Young man, you aren't supposed to be here. Visiting hours have long passed.”
Francis - *acting confused* “Really? I didn't check the time, I'm sorry. *standing up* Well, I'll get going. *turns to face Y/N* Goodnight. Rest well, and make sure to get a lot of rest. Don't worry about anything else. You did an amazing job today.”
Francis then left, and the nurse gave me more painkillers. She then left, and I was alone in the room. I looked out the window and saw the full moon. “I'm happy that everything went well,” I thought as I rested my head, closed my eyes, and went to sleep.
Note - The D.D.D agent will be a sort of OC like he will just be there for the fun of the story but won't be that important (unless people want, ... I finally discover the read more thing, 😅).
Part 5 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10)
A whole week has passed since the Hoon incident, and the D.D.D still hasn't returned him, which has been making me, not only angry but to also overthink. I also tried to find the doppelgänger who hurt him, yet it's easier said than done. After all, I can't just go ahead and ask them. Instead, I just said 'Hoon', and I got a lot of reactions from every doppelgänger; everyone reacted in anger. I also acquired a weapon, a taser, which my father had bought for me while I was still working.
Today, I was at work, the same old routine. At this point, I didn't even need to check the ID or folders because now I knew everything like the back of my hand, though I still checked if I had my suspicions.
I let Mr. Gauss in before he tried to flirt with me. After my first week, he started to flirt with me, but as a joke, or at least I hope it's a joke. I was about to look at my phone when I saw someone else come in; it was a D.D.D agent. “What can I do for you?” I asked a bit annoyed.
D.D.D Agent - “I see you are still angry at us *chuckles*. Don't worry, your friend will be released tomorrow.”
“Really!?” I asked, surprised that they had actually listened to my requests and pleas. “He must be a high-ranking person for the D.D.D to want to release Hoon,” I thought as I tried to figure out what they were truly aiming for.
D.D.D Agent - “We are going to leave him at your home, but there is a catch.”
I looked at him angrily, “Ugh, what is it now?” I asked, very angry.
D.D.D Agent - “First, let me in, please.”
I groaned and pressed the green button; they entered and got into the office.
D.D.D Agent - *chuckles* “Okay, the second thing to say is that he is going to have to stay with you. After all, there is a very high probability that he was exiled from the group. Every time you called us to get rid of the doppelgängers, they would all scream for your friend and scream at us to 'kill the traitor.' Obviously, they all got wiped out, but it did lead us to believe that he was exiled from the doppelgängers. Therefore, he cannot return to them, or something worse will happen to him, which led us to decide that you'll become his guardian.”
“What do you think was the cause?” I asked, looking at the floor.
D.D.D Agent - “That is a possibility, but we think, it was a problem caused between him and his kind, since we did find more injuries from some time ago, showing that he probably fought against them. These are all theories, so don't overthink it.”
“Well, anything else?” I asked, somehow knowing that he was leaving something out.
D.D.D Agent - “We would like to get both yours and his approval to observe him. We already have his approval; we only need yours.”
“Observe him?” I asked, confused and annoyed at them.
D.D.D Agent - “Yes, even though he has been exiled, he is still a doppelgänger, which could help us in our research. As you know, ever since these creatures appeared, we haven't truly gathered useful information or any important information for that matter. Therefore, with your friend's help, we may come to know these creatures more and maybe, someday, truly make the world safe again. And don't worry, we'll make sure to keep him safe.”
I thought about it; it was actually a very good thing. Hoon would be safe, and they would get their research. “What type of observation will you be making?” I asked, just to be sure.
D.D.D Agent - “Well, we were thinking about normal stuff—what they eat besides humans, what they like, or just anything that he shows us, even if it is his personal opinion on things. It could still help us.”
“Alright, then when are you going to bring him home?” I asked in case I'll have to leave work early.
D.D.D Agent - “Don't worry, I'll bring him to your home and stay with him while you work.”
“Huh? Wait, what?” I asked, perplexed.
D.D.D Agent - “Yes, this is a protocol measure in which any D.D.D agent has to be there with you to protect you, in case your friend turns aggressive, and also because of the observation matter.”
“So, you'll live with me?” I asked, even more perplexed.
D.D.D Agent - *with happiness in his voice* “Yes!”
“No,” I said quickly.
D.D.D Agent - “What!? But you need someone to protect you.”
“I can do that myself,” I said without hesitation.
D.D.D Agent - “Then what about the observation?”
“I can also do that. Actually, I think Hoon would prefer me over you watching him,” I said. They seemed unable to argue with me any further. I sighed, “Why do you insist so much on living with us?” I asked, confused.
D.D.D Agent - “Well, because I've always found doppelgängers interesting. That was the whole reason why I joined the D.D.D—to be able to see them up close and see how they truly are. Yet, the sad reality is that I'm never sent to deal with them. I only get to briefly see them while I have to do a ton of paperwork.”
I thought about it. I didn't think Hoon would ever attack me, but that wouldn't be the same for all the others who were after Hoon. “Okay, you can stay with me, but you will have to pay me in some way,” I said with a smirk.
D.D.D Agent - *surprised* “Huh?”
“What did you think? That you could live with me and not do anything? Well, nope. If you want to stay, then you will either pay rent or do house chores,” I said, smiling. Even with the mask, I could feel them overthinking their life decisions. “So this is the power that parents feel,” I thought as they began to mutter to themselves.
Note - Well this is the ending, thank you everyone and also sorry for making it so short I don't know why but I always write short endings, and sorry if it's disappointing, I don't really know how to start nor how to end story but oh well that's just how I do it, well I hope you guys enjoy it.
Edit - I didn't like the ending so I made a new one, but it's a bit long hope it's better.
Part 10 (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9)
A few days later, I was able to go back home, but not to work. Hoon and D helped me get home. I was so happy to finally leave the hospital. During my stay, all of the residents visited me. Selenne and Elenois also came to see me for very long periods, which I was honestly happy about since I was glad they were okay.
I got out of the car and started walking towards the front door. Strangely, Hoon didn't rush over to open the door like he usually did. I dismissed the thought and opened the door, only to be greeted by a party popper.
Everyone- "Congratulations!"
"Huh!?" I exclaimed, confused and surprised. I stepped back and bumped into Francis, who gently popped a party popper.
Francis - "It's a party for you, to congratulate you on your recovery and for everything you've done."
I looked around, surprised, and saw everyone from the apartment. Then, I was bear-hugged by Hoon.
Hoon - *happily* "Hoon hoon!"
"Thanks, everyone!" I said with a smile.
Soon I was greeted by the other neighbors who had brought some gifts.
Mia - “I'm glad you are back with us. You don't know how worried I was when I heard of what you did.”
Dr. W. Afton - “Make sure to rest. Here, *gives Y/N some chamomile tea bags,* this will help in your recovery.”
Mclooy - “Kid, what you did was not only reckless but also very dangerous, but I'm glad you got out of it alive.”
Margarette - “Oh, stop bothering and lecturing the poor soul. They did the right thing and that's what matters.”
As Margarette and Mclooy started a friendly argument, I felt a tap on my shoulder and as I turned around, Angus hugged me. Behind him, I saw Steven and Izaack.
Angus - “You are incredible! Not only did you fight two doppelgängers but you also won!”
“Technically it was the D.D.D wh-” I was interrupted by Izaack also agreeing with Angus.
Izaack - “Nonsense, you also contributed to their defeat, and if that ever happens again, call me and I'll deal with them! Ha ha ha!”
I only saw how Steven shook his head, yet he smiled and nodded.
Steven - “You are a brave soul, but please make sure to also focus on your safety.”
I nodded and smiled. Steven then handed me a yo-yo. I looked at him confused.
Steven - “No special reason, just thought that it would make you happy.”
“Thanks, I'll be sure to use it when I'm at work,” I said and gave it a try, but I felt like I wasn't good at it.
Anastacha and her mother, Nacha, came close to me, and I noticed how Anastacha looked at the yo-yo. “Wanna try?” I asked and handed it to her. She took it and it seemed that she was a master at it since she was even doing tricks. She then handed it back to me.
Anastacha - “I can teach you or whatever, … you are also very cool or whatever.”
Nacha- *smiled and handed a bag of cookies* “Here Y/N, this is for you, and for everything you do for us.”
"Thanks to both of you," I replied as I tasted a cookie. They were the best. I then saw Lois and Roman walking towards me with flowers in their hands, while Albertsky and Robertsky were also coming my way. Lois and Roman reached me first.
Lois - *handed the flowers* “Sorry for not getting something better. I hope the symbolism of the flowers covers for it.”
Roman - “I'm glad that you escaped with your life and that you are still able to continue being with us.”
I smiled and gave them both a hug. Roman wasn't one to talk so openly, so his words truly meant a lot. I knew Lois was often involved with flowers; she had even studied everything about them.
Lois - *looked at Roman* “Let's move, dear. The Peachman brothers also want to talk to them.”
After they smiled at me one last time and left, the Peachman brothers approached me.
Robertsky - *handed a pair of fluffy slippers* “We know it ain't much, but we made these cloth slippers.”
Albertsky - “They are made with the best cotton, so you'll never be uncomfortable with them.”
“Thanks to both of you, you truly are the best shoemakers,” I said and quickly put on the slippers. To be honest, they were amazing. In that moment, the Peachman brothers moved, and Arnold, Gloria, Alf, and Rafttellyn took their place. Gloria had a piece of embroidery in her hands, while Rafttellyn held a very pretty and decorative flower vase.
Gloria - *handed the embroidery* “Here, Y/N, this is something that my husband and I did for you. We poured all of our hearts into it.”
Arnold - “You truly are strong. Continue like that and you'll achieve many great things.”
Alf - “Yes, make sure to always be better. Never allow those monsters to hurt you again. Next time, be sure to beat them up pretty bad.”
Rafttellyn - “Ok, ok, dear. I think they got it, *she handed the vase* this is a very special vase after all. I got it custom made just for you, dear.”
“Thanks, everyone. I truly appreciate all your gifts,” I said with a smile, really touched by their words. Suddenly, Selenne grabbed my hand and pulled me towards her and her sister. I only heard the couples chuckle and walk away.
Selenne - *handed a candle* “I know we had a bit of a rough start, but I truly appreciate how you were willing to risk your life for us.”
Elenois - *handed a basket full of flowers* “Thanks.”
I smiled and hugged them both, “Even after everything, both of you are still people I care about,” I said as they hugged me back. I knew how their personalities were. Selenne may seem and act mean and rude, yet she was a very caring and good person. Elenois was of few words, yet her actions spoke far louder than anything.
And that's how we spent our time, enjoying ourselves and having fun. I was really happy to have everyone with me. I was glad I took on the doorman job, even though it was very difficult at times. It was the best decision I had ever made.
