Summary: In a city where tradition and modern life collide, two strangers find themselves drawn together by chance—and by food.
y/n, a chef rebuilding her life far from home, pours her heart into every dish she creates. Her restaurant is her safe haven, the place where she reclaims her voice after years of silence.
San, a reserved architect and devoted father, has built walls as sturdy as the homes he designs. He cooks only to nurture his little girl, never for himself—until y/n’s presence begins to stir something he thought he had buried.
Through the laughter of a child, the comfort of shared meals, and the quiet magic of being truly seen, y/n and San discover that love doesn’t always arrive loudly—it simmers, patiently, like a stew left to grow rich with time.
A tender story about food, healing, and the unexpected ways two hearts can find home.

Hongjoong woke up to the sweetest sound of giggling. He let out a tired breath as he groaned in protest of waking up. He covered his eyes with his arm and lightly turned away from the direction the giggle came from, pretending to ignore it. The sweet sound continued as he felt little hands touch his arm, trying to move it.
He didn't budge, waiting to see how far Haein would go. He was used to his members waking him up in any horrible fashion, so he thought he was prepared for anything. She could have performed a piledriver on him, screamed at the top of her lungs into his ear, or poured a cup of water in his face. He was prepared for the worst.
Yet somehow, he didn't expect her to just give up trying. No, instead she straddled his waist. A few moments passed by as Hongjoong waited with bated breath for her to hit him in some way, but after what felt like a lifetime, he felt her weight distribute along his torso, cheek pressed in between the exposed skin of his collarbones, snuggling into him comfortably.
He let out a breathy laugh, wrapping his arms around his daughter and leaning down to kiss her head. "You woke up!?" she exclaimed, lifting her head, but he pushed it back down, hugging her tightly, "Ack! Appa!"
Hongjoong let out his own giggles, "Nooo, I want to sleep longer with you, Haeinnie!"
"I have to go to school! Amma didn't come get me yet, but I didn't want to leave the room by myself to get her," she said, pouting as she sat up on top of him again, "Can you wake Amma up, please?"
"Let's sleep a little longer," Hongjoong mumbled, opening his arms for her to cuddle with him once more. She was the best teddy bear.
"But, I don't want to be tardy! I'm really good in school, you know!" she exclaimed, but still crawled into her father's awaiting arms. Hongjoong frowned, leaning down to kiss her head as he realized that, No, he did not know that she was really good in school. He only ever saw her at home when she was playing, eating, or sleeping. He'd never seen her anywhere near school, or even while she was doing homework. He'd never dropped her off or picked her up from school. Never helped her with her homework.
He sighed, sitting up and looking at his daughter who had pulled away slightly. He leaned his forehead against hers and she smiled, heart warm as she got the love from her father she always craves. Everything from the night before was forgotten as he held her. She'd remember eventually, but for now, she was happy to be with him.
"If Amma isn't awake yet, then let me get you ready and take you to school. Is that okay?" Hongjoong asked her. Haein's eyes widened and she looked at her bedroom door and then back at him, "But... will Amma be mad that we left without her?"
Hongjoong chuckled, "I think Amma will be happy that she got to sleep a little more. Everyone likes sleeping, you know!"
"No! I don't like sleeping!" She said, almost offended at the idea, and Hongjoong gasped, "Really?? But you were sleeping when I came home!"
"Well, that's because I was sleepy and tired!" she huffed, "I still don' like sleeping!"
"Ah, is that so?" he said in faux awe, "That's like me with vegetables. Just because I need to eat them to be healthy doesn't mean I like eating them."
She gasped sharply, "You no like veggies but you eat them? I really don't like them!"
"Ah-," Hongjoong realized that he shouldn't be promoting his hatred for vegetables to his 4 -year-old daughter and spoke, "No, Haein-ah, of course I like them. How can I dislike them when Amma made them for me with love?"
"Hmm..." "I hope you eat your veggies, Haein. Amma works hard to cook them so you can grow strong and healthy."
"I cry," she mumbled, "but I eat them." Hongjoong chuckled, petting her head, "Then you're a good girl. Now come on, if we get ready fast enough I'll take you to breakfast before school, okay?"
"Okay, I get ready so fast!" She exclaimed, getting out of bed. Hongjoong chuckled, following her to the bathroom. He stood behind her as she stood on the stool. "Can you put the paste on the brush?" he asked and she nodded, sticking her tongue out in focus when she squeezed the tube on her toothbrush that Hongjoong held steady for her. She squeezed as tight as she could, but she was still small, so not much came out. A burst of strength had too much come out, and Hongjoong chuckled as he put the excess toothpaste on his own toothbrush, putting it to the side as he held Haein's chin, brushing her teeth.
He felt warm. This was a domestic scene that he had never participated in before. He'd often fondly watch you doing this for Haein on his way out to work, but doing it himself... he didn't know why he gravitated toward it so naturally. Maybe he wanted to prove something to himself: that he could be the father that Haein deserved.
Hongjoong made Haein spit and rinse before brushing his own teeth. He left the bathroom to pick out Haein's outfit while he brushed, showing her pieces before putting together something stylish that Haein liked if her excited squeals were any indication. He felt inspired to design something for her later.
He went back to the bathroom to spit while Haein went into her parents' bedroom to check on her mom. After washing his face and moisturizing, he checked on Haein in his room and sighed when he found that you were still sleeping. You must have been so exhausted. He had burdened you so much the night before. You deserved to rest. You didn't deserve the things he'd said to you in his moment of weakness.
He came closer to you and noticed the dried tears on your face and the tightness of your grip on your pillow.
"Amma is pretty," Haein sighed, and Hongjoong hummed, "I think so, too." He held his hand out, "Come, let's go. We'll get breakfast, I'll drop you off, and then bring some home for Amma."
"Okay!!" Hongjoong got Haein dressed quickly before brushing her hair and putting it into a ponytail and getting her in the car. He sent you a quick text in case you panicked when you woke up to a late clock and an empty house.
He went to a local spot that he knew you liked and ate a couple of scallion pancakes with Haein, picking some up for you along with a kimchi pancake that he knew you liked. He didn't realize how late he was running. He just wanted to spend a slow morning with his daughter, he really did wake up late. He almost sped down the street until he reached her school, the attendant coming to his car to pick her up. He was grateful he didn't have to get out of the car since he had forgotten his mask in haste.
"Bye, Appa!" Haein yelled and Hongjoong replied, "I'll pick you up today, too, Haein-ah! I love you!" "I love you, too!"
Hongjoong's heart felt full and satisfied. You did this every day. You knew this joy of seeing your precious daughter doing literally anything. Were you upset that Hongjoong didn't help take care of Haein, or had you been upset that he hadn't gotten to feel this yet? He hadn't even tried.
When he got home, you were sitting at the counter, nursing a cup of coffee, sniffling lightly as you stared into your mug. Hongjoong frowned, coming over to you, slightly startling you as he felt your forehead, "Are you feeling alright?"
"I think I have a fever," you mumbled, "My head is pounding." Hongjoong's heart twisted with guilt. You had a trend of spiking a fever every time you went to bed angry.
"I'm sorry," he said softly, "I brought you breakfast." "Thank you," you mumbled, as he handed the bag to you, "Don't you have work today?"
"They gave me the day off since I stayed back so late yesterday. It's not like we have a comeback anytime, soon. I was just producing some stuff for other artists." Hongjoong spoke of it like it was trivial, and you had to bite your tongue from asking him that if it wasn't so important then why couldn't he come to Haein's performance.
"I see," you said, "Well, enjoy your day off." You didn't feel like eating at the moment, so you left the bag on the counter before attempting to leave the kitchen. Hongjoong quickly caught your arm, looking at you questioningly. "Where are you going? You should eat." "I don't feel well." "Do you starve yourself every time you're sick?" he asked, incredulously, "You force me to eat when I'm sick."
"I-," you wanted to snap, but only huffed, pulling her arm away from him abruptly, "Don't act like this is what you always do." You didn't let him get another word in as you made your way back to your bedroom to lay in bed. Hongjoong watched you go with dejection. You were distancing from him, and he hated it. It hurt his chest worse than any injury.
Truth be told, Hongjoong was right on the money when he'd mentioned you starving yourself when sick. It wasn't some kind of self-harm tactic, no, it was just that... there was no one to feed you when you were sick, even though you always did as such for others. Be it Hongjoong, Haein, your parents, or his parents (though they were usually taken care of by Bumjoong or his partner), you were usually the first in line to take care of them.
But it had never been reciprocated. You loved your in-laws, and were sure that if your mother-in-law was called, she'd take care of you in a heartbeat, but there was no way you could call her on your own, and Hongjoong, despite knowing when you were sick, just never called her. It wasn't malicious, but it was unfortunately neglectful.
You never blamed him. He wasn't taught to care for his family, he was taught to provide for them. You volunteered to take care of that... but you couldn't help but dwell on it on those days when your body was sore and your head throbbed as you forced yourself to get up when it was time to pick up Haein.
The door creaked open, and Hongjoong was surprised that the lights in the house were all off. He was used to seeing you asleep in the dimly lit living room, waiting for him to go to bed together, but this time you were nowhere to be seen.
When he went to open their shared bedroom, it was cold, but his wife's body was drowning in a blanket. He chuckled at the sight before going to check on Haein, who hummed when her father came into the room and stroked her cheek. "Appa," she murmured, half-asleep, "Amma...sick."
Hongjoong frowned. If Haein had been thinking about it enough to talk in her sleep, then you must have looked really under the weather. He looked at you fondly earlier, but had he really not realized how exhausted you looked? Despite that, though, he didn't do anything about it. Just got ready for bed, and fell asleep next to her as if nothing was wrong.
Hongjoong sighed at how much of an idiot he was. His wife was perfect, and she had always been perfect. He didn't know how his judgement had become so misguided.
Hongjoong warmed up the pancakes in the microwave and brought them to the bedroom. Y/n was laying down, hands cradling her own head as she curled into a ball.
"Y/n, have you taken any painkillers?" Hongjoong asked. He tried to keep his voice from wavering. He was so shit at taking care of others like this, Seonghwa had always been the one to do it in the group and his mother and y/n had always done it for him at home.
"I haven't eaten," she mumbled, "So I can't take them."
"Then eat," He said sternly, "I know you like scallion pancakes, I bought a kimchi pancake, too-."
"Hongjoong," you said sternly, ignoring your headache for a moment to address him. You sat up and looked at him with sharp eyes that made him gulp. "I'll take the food, but if you think just handing me some pancakes will make me forgive you for your absence yesterday on top of the horrible things you said to me, then you can shut the fuck up."
Hongjoong flinched. That was the spunky girl he knew. You had mellowed out for the sake of your daughter, but he was seeing that fire once again except this time he was terrified of it.
"Y/n," he tried to vocalize his feelings, but all he could say was her name. She scoffed, "You might as well go to work today if you're just planning on sitting here and pretending like you haven't felt burdened by my presence in this house for who knows how long."
"Stop it, y/n-" "What? It doesn't feel good to have your faults thrown in your face, huh?" she mocked him, "Get out. Seriously, get out. I don't feel like being angry right now, and just looking at you makes me so angry."
Hongjoong didn't argue much more as you shut the door behind him. Tears welled up in his eyes as he covered his mouth to stifle his sobs. He'd really made you snap. He broke you. You were usually someone so kind and confident, but he could hear it in your words.
You weren't confident that he loved you.
You trembled in anger on the other side of the door, wiping your own tears as you ate the delicious scallion pancake that Hongjoong had bought you. He bought too much. You could barely eat two of them, but there were three and an extra kimchi pancake in the bag.
...Had he bought the extras to eat with you?
You shook your head, scarfing down all four pancakes. Fuck him and his pancakes. Your stomach was uncomfortably full, but you didn't care, finally taking some painkillers and putting yourself to sleep.
Haein really didn't believe her father when he said he'd pick her up from school. She was used to it. Something urgent usually would come up and she'd be just as happy to see her amma pull up with a wide smile and some lame excuse. Haein didn't care anymore. Even at the young age of 4 and a half, she was used to her father disappointing her.
Yet her surprise overwhelmed her senses as she saw her father's car pull up and park in front of her. He got out of the car, face clad with a mask, but she could always tell it was him.
She started sobbing.
Hongjoong was startled when the waterworks started, picking her up and rocking her as she held onto him tightly. She couldn't verbalize what she was thinking, so all she could do was cry into his neck. "Haeinnie... what happened, my treasure? Are you okay?"
You came! You actually came! She couldn't say it in the moment, but her tears were happy ones... until they weren't.
Haein's cries were loud and relentless, and at some point the school attendants started to get annoyed as Hongjoong's car held up the pickup line. Hongjoong nervously bowed in apology to them, and turned to the car, "Haeinnie, one second okay? Let's just get out of the car line and I'll hold you again."
She continued to let out little sniffles that broke Hongjoong's heart.
Hongjoong took her to the local playground, and sat with her on a bench. The moment he had lifted her into his arms, she'd started to cry again, sobbing uncontrollably.
Her little heart squeezed, finally remembering the night before, "Why did you come today, but not yesterday?" She sobbed, "I sang good! You not hear it!"
Hongjoong's eyes immediately watered. "I'm sorry, my treasure." He hugged her tighter, "I should have come. Appa was wrong. I want to hear you sing." He hadn't known she could sing at all.
He stood up with her in his arms, rocking her back and forth as she cried. "Baby, my treasure, can you look at me?" He asked, slowly prying her away from his neck to make her look at him. Her active volcano of tears was burning him as he looked at her through her wet lashes.
"Can you give me a kiss? Remind appa that you love him?" He asked. Haein gave him a kiss, but continued pouting when she pulled away, her cries turning into sniffles.
"I'm never going to miss it again," He whispered to her, leaning his forehead against her, "Did you hear me? Never again. Unless Appa is in another country, as long as Appa is in Korea, I will always watch you sing."
"Promise?" Her small voice conveyed her distrust and he couldn't have felt like a more incompetent father knowing that his daughter had to feel unsure about any promise he made her. He'd done this to himself.
"I. Promise." He said it firmly, giving her a few more kisses, "When we go home, can you sing for me at home? Can you show me what I missed?"
"You and Amma have to be there," she said, pulling away and looking at him seriously. He smiled, rubbing his nose against hers, "Of course... Amma is sick right now, though... can we do it when she gets better?"
"Sick?" Haein asked, worried for her mother. "Yeah, just a little. When we go home we have to be quiet around her or her head will hurt."
"Oh... okay, when she gets better, then I will sing for you," She said, determined. "Okay," Hongjoong chuckled, "Do you have a lot of homework, today?" "No, we just have to write letters, and I'm really good at that," she said proudly, and Hongjoong beamed at her, twice as proud.
"Ah~ Then do you want to play in the park for a little bit? When you get home we'll eat a biiiiig meal, and then you can do your homework."
"Will you help me wash up, too, appa!?" she asked excitedly and he resisted the urge to squeeze her for being so cute. "Yes, I will!"
She squealed, squirming for him to let her down and hit the ground running, yelling at him to chase her. Hongjoong could only smile all dopey as he ran around with his daughter, playing tag, pushing her on the swing, going doing the slide with her, helping her on the jungle gym...
He didn't realize how much he loved it. He hadn't even imagined doing this for her before. In hindsight, he had been so unprepared for a child. He had no idea what it meant to be a father until now, until you gave him a reality check. This was being a father, not whatever he was doing before.
And, despite that, Haein loved him. Of course she did, she was a loving and innocent baby, but his absence had hurt her so deeply. He'd said to you that there were plenty of children with absent fathers who'd turned out fine... but were they fine or did they just pretend to be because being bothered by it would have inconvenienced their fathers?
When this thought crossed his mind, he stopped, looking down at Haein who was smiling up at him so cutely. He knelt down and pulled her into a hug, sighing into her hair.
"I'm so sorry, Haein-ah," he said to her, "I'm sorry we didn't do this before."
"I love you, Appa," she replied, leaning her head on his shoulder. Hongjoong sniffed, "I love you, too, my treasure."

A/N: Happy birthday Mingles, the loml <3
Did Mingi really want to be awake at such an early hour on his birthday? Not really. He would much rather be curled up beside you in your shared bed. It was so hard for him to leave you this morning when he had to get up to get ready.
"Appa...?" His 4 year old son, Jooyun, stood at the door of his room, rubbing his eye as he held his Tyudeongi toy close to his body.
"Hey, buddy." Mingi smiled softly, bending down so he could be on a closer eye level to the sleeping child. Jooyun immediately wrapped his arms around his father's neck.
"Where you going..?" The child asked with a yawn.
"I'm going to work for a little. But I'll be back soon. In the mean time, keep mama company?" He requested.
"Mmm." Jooyun nodded. Mingi chuckled and kissed Jooyun's cheek before bringing him to your room. He carefully laid Jooyun down beside you.
"Go back to sleep, buddy." Mingi whispered, patting Jooyun's back to soothe him.
Now, Mingi REALLY didn't want to leave. You, your son and your comfy bed, that was perfect. But knowing that ATINY were waiting on him, Mingi forced himself to leave. After a lot of begging, the staff already allowed Mingi to do his birthday live at 10 am instead of the usual 2-3pm that the members do their birthday lives.
And yes, Jooyun was in love with Tyudeongi and no, Mingi was not jealous or bitter. Besides, you hug a Ddeongbyeoli to sleep and Mingi's only ever complained about it twice.
"Good morning." Mingi bowed to the manager that was waiting for him in the van.
"Happy birthday, Mingi ah." The manager wished, smiling at the taller male through the mirror. Mingi smiled gratefully as he slumped back in his seat.
"Too early?"
"Hyung, if you had to leave the love of your life and your son in your warm comfy bed on your birthday, you would be upset too." Mingi scoffed. His manager laughed and nodded in agreement.
"Happy birthday, Mingi sshi." All the staff were greeting him when he arrived at KQ.
"Thank you." Mingi bowed respectfully. He sat in the chair, waiting to do his hair and make up for the livestream.
"None of the members are even here this early." Mingi sighed as he looked at his manager in the mirror. He chuckled at Mingi's kid-like whining and placed a coffee and muffin down on the table for him to eat as breakfast.
"I think only Yeosang and Wooyoung are coming in for dance workshop later." His manager informed, scrolling on his phone. Mingi took his phone out and took a selfie.
'I wish I was still in bed with you and Jooyun :( - Mingi'
He sent the pouting photo of himself to you. Seeing as to how you haven't opened the message, he guessed you were either still asleep or busy with Jooyun.
"Okay, 15 minutes, Mingi ah." His manager called. After his hair and make up, Mingi went to get changed.
"Woah, look at all the ATINY in the waiting room." Mingi said, looking over the director's shoulder.
"Of course, it's Mingi's birthday." The director laughed, making Mingi jokingly scoff. He checked his appearance one more time before sitting in the chair to get ready.
"Wow, you guys prepared a lot." Mingi looked around at the backdrop and all the props that was used to decorate the area. This year, his birthday merch was a Fix On hoodie that he designed himself. Taking another sip of his coffee, Mingi stretched his arms over his head and finally took a seat.
"Do I look okay? Can you see the hoodie properly?" Mingi asked the staff member, who look through the streaming camera.
"Looks good, Mingi sshi." She nodded and gave him a thumbs up. Mingi smiled in satisfaction, leaning back in his seat and sending you a final text.
'Going to start the stream soon, baby. Watch it if you have time. After this, I'm coming home to you. - Mingi'
"3, 2, 1!" The staff counted down and the room went quiet as Mingi smiled for the camera.
"Good morning, ATINY~" He waved. Checking the tablet beside him, he was touched at how many fans turned up so early for him. That made waking up worth it.
The stream went on like any other birthday stream, singing a birthday song, blowing out the candles and cutting the cake, then hearing messages and voice notes from the members.
"You can't wait for the hoodie? I can't wait to see all of you get it and wear it. Please post it so I can see." He read the comments. Mingi avoided questions that directly asked about you, not that he was ashamed or anything, he just respected your want for privacy.
"I don't know what I plan to do for the rest of the day. Maybe we'll go for dinner...?" He shrugged.
"We still have some time before the stream ends so I'll unwrap presents and answer more questions." Mingi smiled as the staff brought over the presents.
"Let's see. We'll start with this-"
"Appa!" Mingi's head shot up and he blinked at the sudden shout. It sounded a lot like Jooyun.
"Hold on, ATINY." Mingi stood up to look over the staff members and set up. Yunho was standing there with a grin, dressed in plain clothes as he held Jooyun's hand. The two of them waved to Mingi.
"Yunho just appeared with Jooyun." Mingi informed.
"Woah, the comments are going crazy." Mingi noted at the fast moving comments, all the fans wanting to see Jooyun.
"Come here. It's okay." Mingi waved the two over, unable to hide his smile. It was his best friend and his son, of course he was happy. Yunho came over, carefully leading Jooyun over the wires. Jooyun appeared on screen, his height just tall enough to let his eyes able to peek over the table.
"Aigo. There we go, you can see better like this." Mingi lifted Jooyun onto his lap. Jooyun still hugged his Tyudeongi close to his body, looking around in confusion.
"Hello, ATINY~ Did you all wish Princess Mingki a happy birthday?" Yunho bowed and waved with a friendly smile.
"Say hello, buddy." Mingi whispered. Jooyun turned his head to scan the room then looked up at his father.
"Hello to who?" He asked. Yunho and Mingi couldn't help but laugh.
"The fans are watching through the camera." Yunho explained, reaching out of ruffle Jooyun's hair. Jooyun still looked a little lost but followed his uncle's instructions, waving and bowing his head.
"Good boy." Mingi pinched Jooyun's cheek. The staff pushed a small chair for Yunho to sit.
It wasn't long before Mingi and Yunho bid goodbye to the fans. They were disappointed but they already overran their planned time with Yunho and Jooyun appearing. With waves and goodbyes, the stream was turned off.
"Happy birthday! Were you sur... prised?" Jooyun asked Mingi.
"Yeah, I was. But buddy, are you here on your own? Where's mama?" Mingi carried Jooyun out of the filming area as the staff were trying to pack up. Jooyun shrugged and turned to Yunho.
"(y/n) knew you were streaming so she texted me. She was called in for a work emergency so she dropped Jooyun off." Yunho explained.
"Oh..." Mingi nodded, checking his phone. You hadn't even texted him.
Mingi couldn't really complain. There were multiple times whereby he had to choose work over you, Jooyun and special dates. And you've never once made him feel guilty about it.
"Shall we grab brunch?" Yunho suggested, seeing how Mingi tried his best to hide his disappointment.
"Yes! Yes!" Jooyun jumped up and down excitedly. The plan was to go home but if you weren't there, Mingi might as well go for brunch.
"Okay but you're paying." Mingi chuckled. Yunho saluted and went to wait with Jooyun while Mingi changed out of his prepared clothes and wiped off the make up. Once he was in plain clothes, Mingi gratefully bowed to all the staff that were there for coming early to help him with the stream.
"Have a nice birthday, Mingi sshi." They all waved and bowed. Before stepping out of the room, Mingi sent you another text and tucked his phone into his pocket.
"Let's go, you two." Mingi called out to his best friend and son, who were busy making funny faces to take selfies.
"There we go." Mingi fastened Jooyun to his booster seat. He sat in the back with him while Yunho sat in the passenger seat.
RINGGGGG
"Hey, beautiful." Mingi answered, leaning back in his seat. He was glad that you called. Some sort of worry stirred within him after you hadn't replied to any of his texts.
"Hey, love. Sorry, I just dropped Jooyun off without any warning. It's... hectic." The guilt, regret and sadness in your voice was enough to tell Mingi that you were already making yourself feel bad.
"No, don't apologise, baby. I'm not angry. He had a great time with Yunho and the staff." Mingi chuckled.
"I'm glad to hear that... Ugh, I've got to go, I'll talk to you later." You seemed rushed and hung up before he could even reply. Mingi pursed his lips, he knew it wasn't your fault but he still felt a sinking in his chest.
"Why the long face?" Yunho asked.
"She hasn't wished me... And I guess I expected to spend my birthday with her and Jooyun but she got called for work." Mingi shrugged, trying to brush it off.
"But I know I can't say anything. She has always been forgiving and understanding when I have to put work first." Mingi continued.
"That's true. (y/n)'s one of a kind. I would have dumped you." Yunho teased with a snicker.
"Yah, my son is here." Mingi rolled his eyes. Trust Yunho to know how to put a smile on Mingi's face. When their manager pulled up outside the cafe, Yunho helped Jooyun out of his car seat.
"Thanks again, hyung." Mingi went to hug the manager.
"You're welcome, Mingi ah. Oh, and happy birthday from me and my wife." The manager took a money envelope out and handed it to him.
"Hyung, you know I can't." Mingi shook his head, wanting to refuse the monetary gift.
"Just take it. My wife will kill me if I go back with it." He chuckled. Mingi conceeded with a nod, he usually put all of his birthday money into the account you and him set up for Jooyun. He wanted the money to go to a good cause and this was his good cause, ensuring a future for Jooyun.
"Appa!" Jooyun called. Mingi tucked the money envelope into his clutch and headed to follow the two into the cafe.
"I want waffles!" Jooyun said.
"Magic word?" Mingi reminded.
"Please! Waffles!" He added amidst his excited giggling. Mingi chuckled and patted Jooyun's head. The 3 found a booth seat tucked in the corner, granting them a little more privacy.
"I'M A HORRIBLE PERSON!" You wailed, throwing your phone aside as you fell back onto the couch.
"Yes, you are." Wooyoung poked his head out of the kitchen to reply. You poked an eye open and nearly gave him the finger.
"Ignore him. You're not a horrible person, (y/n). Why would you say that?" Yeosang asked, sitting beside you and taking your hand into his lap to comfort you.
"Mingi sounded so sad on the phone. He's probably disappointed I'm at 'work' or that I haven't even wished him happy birthday. How can I make him so sad on his birthday?" You pouted, falling against Yeosang's shoulder.
"You're like Jooyun throwing a tantrum." Jongho said.
"Shut it. I hate you all." You hissed. Safe to say, you got along really well with the Ateez members.
"What did we do?" Seonghwa raised an eyebrow, gesturing to himself, San and Hongjoong. But honestly, they were used to you bickering with Wooyoung and Jongho.
"Let's just get this done before they come home early." You rubbed your temples.
Yes, this was all a plan to surprise Mingi for his birthday. You were initially unsure about it but the boys assured you it'll be fine.
"I need help wrapping his presents. They got delivered earlier today." You said. San followed you to the room to help you bring the stack of presents out.
"Wow, talk about overboard." Hongjoong whistled.
"Well, I blame all of you for making me stressed with this genius plan of yours. I felt like I needed to buy all this because I felt bad for making him upset on his birthday." You frowned before going to retrieve all the wrapping paper. There were different ones, all leftovers from Jooyun's presents.
"He'll be fine. He has Yunho and Jooyun there with him. That's all he needs." Wooyoung teased you. He always liked to joke that Yunho was Mingi's number 1 person.
"Just make the cake or I'll bash your face into it." You threatened through gritted teeth.
"Captain, she's threatening me." Wooyoung complained to Hongjoong, who just sighed and facepalmed.
"Uh, hang on, San. Some of the deliveries aren't presents for Mingi. I haven't had the chance to sort them." You said, checking the different invoices and delivery slips.
"I'm guessing this Aniteez one isn't a present?" San raised an eyebrow, holding up the box.
"Oh, yeah. Jooyun felt bad for not having Bbyongming so he wanted one. And I ordered Ddeongbyeoli's new yellow coat." You showed.
"Jooyun's getting Bbyongming while you're still hugging Ddeongbyeoli? I wonder who is the mature one." Jongho asked.
"I don't like your tone. And please, as if Jooyun will give up Tyudeongi. They're like best friends. So don't bring Byeoli into this." You scoffed. Seonghwa could only watch in amusement as you spoke fondly of his Aniteez character.
"Mingi's texting me." You paused the gift wrapping, a sad look on your face as you looked at Mingi's texts. He sent you pictures of Jooyun and him enjoying brunch.
"Aww, look at them." You showed the photos to San, who smiled softly at the father and son.
"Come, let me reply." Seonghwa took your phone to help you reply much to your protest.
'Enjoy yourselves, you two. - (y/n)'
Mingi looked at your reply. It was so... dry and unlike you. As Yunho went to pay the bill, Mingi was left the stew in his thoughts. Did he perhaps do something to upset you?
No, not that he can think of. Or did you just forget his birthday?
For a long time, Mingi did say that to him, a birthday was like any other day. He didn't want you to go out of your way to plan something big for him, he enjoyed just being with you and Jooyun.
But now that you hadn't wished him or spent time with him on his birthday, he was feeling a little hollow. Maybe you were busy and forgot, which is completely understandable. You've been juggling large work assignments and Jooyun since Mingi was always busy with work or overseas.
"Appa, are you okay?" Jooyun tugged on his father's sleeve with a small tilt of his head.
"I'm fine, buddy." Mingi smiled, combing Jooyun's hair back. Yunho returned to the table after having paid for brunch. Both father and son thanked him for the meal.
"Shall we go hang out at home?" Mingi asked, gathering his things and standing up, helping Jooyun off the chair.
"Not yet. There's somewhere we have to go first." Yunho smiled with a glint in his eye.
"What are you planning, Yun...?" Mingi knew Yunho long enough to know that look. Yunho innocently shrugged and guided the two out of the cafe. He booked a car, not telling Mingi the address.
"Samchon, where are we going?" Now Jooyun was confused too. And Mingi knew Yunho wouldn't ignore Jooyun.
"It's a surprise." Yunho giggled, putting a finger to his lips.
"I like surprises!" Jooyun cheered. Mingi wanted to facepalm, he had hoped that Jooyun would pressed Yunho more for the answer as to where they were headed. That was when the car pulled up in front of a mall. But not any ordinary mall, a mall with high end stores.
"You already know we're here for your present." Yunho nudged Mingi, who rubbed the back of his neck, the realisation sinking in. Why else would they be here?
"Good afternoon." The door man at one of the shops welcomed them.
"Hi, appointment for Jeong Yunho." Yunho said, showing the lady inside the reservation on his phone.
"Oh, yes. Mr Jeong. Please take a seat, can I get you anything to drink in the mean time? Coffee, tea, champagne or juice for the boy?" The lady asked.
"Two iced coffees, please. And yes, a juice box for my nephew too." Yunho ordered.
"Of course." She bowed and walked away. Mingi kept Jooyun on his lap, not wanting him to wander around.
"Look, appa! A doggy like Tyudeongi." Jooyun kicked his feet as he saw one of the fancy cloth animals that people would buy and decorate their houses with.
"Yeah, it is. But don't touch it, okay?" Mingi said. Jooyun nodded obediently. When the lady came, he received the juice box and took a sip while Mingi drank his coffee. The store manager of the store came out to greet them. Mingi sat Jooyun on the chair to shake hands with the suited male.
"Happy birthday, Mr Song." He wished.
"Thanks." Mingi smiled. Before they could get what they came for, the staff came out with a small cake and candles, all of them clapping and singing happy birthday.
"Cake!" Jooyun exclaimed happily.
"Thank you, thank you." Mingi bowed to everyone and closed his eyes to make a quick wish before blowing the candles.
"We will box the cake for you." The store manager nodded to one of the employees, who brought the cake away. After that, he wheeled out a coat rack with a single coat.
"Wow... Is this for me?" Mingi was in awe, feeling the material of the black coat.
"Yes, custom cashmere coat. Dark red silk lining." The manager continued to list the details of the coat.
"You did all this?" Mingi turned to his best friend, who nodded his head. Mingi walked over, engulfing Yunho in a big hug. He knew this coat must not have been cheap and every small detail had been customised by Yunho.
"Try it on." Yunho said. The manager placed the coat onto Mingi's shoulders and he went to look at the mirror. It complimented Mingi's frame well.
"It feels amazing and sits nicely on my shoulders." He ran his fingers against the material.
"I'm happy to hear that. You look great, Mr Song." The manager complimented, making Mingi's ears heat up.
Mingi liked that it was simple looking on the outside, like a regular black coat. Only he and Yunho will know all the effort that was put into designing and planning this coat.
"Appa looks so cool~" Jooyun sang.
"Thanks, buddy." Mingi chuckled. He snapped a photo and sent it to you, not mentioning it was a gift from Yunho.
"If there are no adjustments you need to make, Mr Song, you are welcomed to take the coat home today." The manager smiled. Mingi turned to Yunho.
"It's up to you." Yunho shrugged. Mingi nodded to the manager, he can't wait to show it to you in real life. After removing the coat, Mingi passed it to the manager, who folded it and wrapped it up neatly, tying everything together with a ribbon. Mingi and Yunho received the paper bag with a bow.
"Come on, Joo." Mingi held his hand out to his son, who quickly ran over to hold his hand.
"Maybe if (y/n) is done with work, we could swing by and pick her up before going home." Mingi thought out loud as he walked.
'Wow, that coat looks great on you! But you're handsome with or without the coat anyway <3 And no need to pick me, I'll see you at home? - (y/n)'
'And I'm quite tired. Can we just get takeout tonight? - (y/n)'
Now, that sounded like you. Mingi smiled to himself as Yunho hailed a cab for the 3 of them.
But you still hadn't wished him or showed any signs of realising what day it was. So at that point, Mingi assumed you genuinely forgot. It's fine, as long as you were not angry or upset with him.
"Where are we going now?" Jooyun asked his father and uncle.
"Going home to see mama." Mingi replied. Just like Mingi, Jooyun was obsessed with you. Therefore, after hearing your name, Jooyun's eyes lit up with excitement. Of course, Jooyun loves both his parents but he was a mama's boy.
"Yay! I missed mama." Jooyun giggled as they got into the cab. Mingi nodded in agreement. Half his birthday was gone and he had yet to speak to you face to face.
When the cab pulled up to the apartment building, Yunho watched the father and son excitedly head upstairs to the house.
"You two are so alike sometimes, it's scary." He laughed as Mingi keyed in the code for the house.
"Shh, I think mama might be asleep, buddy. So let's be quiet." Mingi whispered to Jooyun when he noticed all the lights were off. Until the lights turned on.
"SURPRISE!" You and the other Ateez members jumped out. Mingi's eyes widened in surprise.
"What- How? I- What?" He blinked in confusion.
"The boys made me lie to you and give you the cold shoulder to surprise you. I wasn't at the office." You chuckled, much to the protest of the Ateez boys. When his eyes fell on you, Mingi crossed the room and pulled you into a hug. He buried his face into your shoulder while you squeezed him.
"I thought you were mad at me or something." He mumbled.
"Ah, that was the boys stealing my phone to reply to you. Why would I be mad at you, hmm?" You pulled away to cup his cheeks, a soft smile on your face.
"Happy birthday, Song Mingi." You wished and tip toed to give him a sweet kiss while his arms moved to wrap around your waist.
"Yah, in case you forgot, we're still here. Plus, there's a kid in the room!" Wooyoung screeched.
"Aish, let them have their moment. They haven't seen each other and it's Mingi's birthday." San grabbed Wooyoung, putting him in a headlock, making him yell.
"Sorry I was made to be mean to you on your birthday. I feel awful." You pouted with a small frown, stroking his cheek.
"It's all good, beautiful. I'm just glad you didn't forget my birthday nor are you mad at me." He said.
"I would never forget your birthday, Min. Remember, I play Ateez Superstar? Your birthday event has been going on." You giggled. Apart from being Mingi's wife and the mother of his child, you were also a dedicated ATINY.
"Mama!" Jooyun finally ran over to hug your legs. You bent down to hug Jooyun, showering him in kisses while Mingi went to greet the other members.
"I did good?" Jooyun asked.
"You did amazing, baby. You and samchon. Good job." You patted his head. He laughed shyly, throwing his arms around your neck.
"Now that Mingi is here, we can eat!" Yeosang said with delight. You nodded and gestured for the boys to start eating. Mingi wasn't rushed, he came over to hug you.
"I missed you the whole day." He whispered, pressing his lips to your temple and letting it linger there for a bit.
"I missed you too." You hugged him tightly.
"Okay, lovebirds. Better get food before it's all gone." Seonghwa laughed with two full plates in his hands. You didn't need to worry, knowing someone will help Jooyun or share food with him.
"Galbi!" Jooyun pointed excitedly and San grabbed two pieces to put onto the plate that Jongho was holding, presumably Jooyun's plate. Seeing San help with getting Jooyun's food settled, you and Mingi went to get your own food. Mingi's arm stayed around your waist the entire time.
"Separate them for half a day and they can't seem to keep their hands off each other." Yunho chuckled.
"Jooyun's going to get another sibling tonight." Wooyoung smirked.
"Don't say that in front of the kid!" Hongjoong slapped his arm. Jooyun blinked innocently, focused on the piece of meat Seonghwa had cut up for him.
"My baby eats so well." You came to sit with Jooyun and cooed at him. He grinned at you, making you pinch his cheek.
"It's my birthday. Only look at me." Mingi drew your attention back to him with a childish pout.
"I know it's your birthday but Jooyun is your child too." You shot Mingi a flat look. Both Mingi and Jooyun always liked to fight for your attention. The two of them arguing on who hugs you, etc.
The rest of the party was spent just chilling, the boys even played some video games. Hongjoong had moved to the room with Jooyun to play with him and you went to check on them, mostly wanting Jooyun to have his nap.
"Min! Come look." You whispered, pointing to Jooyun's room. You saw Hongjoong and Jooyun sleeping together in his bed, the both fast asleep.
"The captain can really sleep anywhere." Mingi scoffed softly.
"That's not what I meant..." You slapped your forehead. Snapping a quick picture of the two, you pushed Mingi out of the room.
"No wonder the two of them were playing so quietly in the room." Yeosang chuckled.
"Shall we cut the cake after Jooyun and Hongjoong wake up from their nap?" You asked the rest with a giggle as Mingi grabbed your waist to make you sit on his lap on the couch.
"They both need naps or they'll be grumpy." Jongho joked. Seonghwa laughed and nodded in agreement.
"Don't you wanna play?" You asked Mingi softly, seeing the boys engage in a game of Mario Kart.
"No, I'd rather be here." He grinned, leaning in to press his forehead against your temple. You slung your arm around his neck and gave him a peck on the cheek. Honestly, there was nowhere else you'd rather be but to be close to Mingi. With his hectic schedule, you hardly had time for each other.
"Aish!" Wooyoung cursed when San threw a shell at him. You were so glad Jooyun wasn't here. The boys, including Mingi, have been caught using 'bad' language around Jooyun before.
"Shh, Jooyun and Joong are sleeping." You shushed him.
"You just get back to smooching with Mangi." Wooyoung scoffed in reply. You felt your cheeks heat up.
"Yah, Jung Wooyoung." Mingi scolded when you scooched out of his lap in embarrassment. You laughed and went to the kitchen to get more drinks for everyone.
"Baby~" Mingi whined, trapping you in his arms between his body and the counter.
"Why are you whining?" You grasped his chin. He held your wrist to move your hand as he leaned down to kiss you.
"Wanna be with you." He mumbled, his head dropping onto your shoulder as he tucked his face into the crook of your neck. You stroked the back of his head.
"You ARE with me, that's why we have a son. A son that you're sounding a lot like right now." You laughed, shaking your head at how silly Mingi was being. Jooyun already looks like Mingi so when the two whine, they looked even more similar.
"Alright, let me fix more drinks and snacks for the boys." You patted his hip.
"Let me help. I'm sure you've been busy planning this surprise and putting up with the boys at the same time." Mingi kissed your temple and tried to take over.
"No, you're the birthday boy. It's fine." You stroked his cheek but Mingi used his height, holding the juice jug away from you.
"Alright, you do the drinks and I'll do the snacks." You said, beginning to get some snacks together.
It didn't take long for Jooyun to wake up from his nap. Hongjoong came to get you and Mingi but Mingi beat you to it, going to his room to comfort him.
"Sleep well, buddy?" Mingi asked, sitting Jooyun on his lap and brushing his hair out of his face. You went in to see the two.
"Mama..." Jooyun reached out to you. You sent Mingi a smug smile and picked Jooyun up into your arms from Mingi's lap. He buried his face into your chest. Once Jooyun was settled and a feeling more sociable, you brought him out so you could cut Mingi's birthday cake. He didn't want to leave your side though.
"We're cutting appa's cake, baby." You said to him. Jooyun looked on curiously but still hugged your leg, his other arm wrapped around his precious Tyudeongie.
"Come." Mingi lifted Jooyun up into his arms as San lit the candles. Wooyoung took a video of everyone singing the birthday song.
"Make a wish, Mingi." You smiled.
"I already have everything I could ever wish for." Mingi smiled back, leaning to steal a peck.
"Boooooooo!!" The other boys jeered, making you giggle. Mingi rolled his eyes but leaned down to blow out the candles, making everyone clap and cheer.
"Picture time!" Yunho said and the boys all took turns to take picture with Mingi while you cut the cake. Yeosang and Seonghwa helped.
When the cake and presents were done, the boys helped to clean up before leaving so you and Mingi could spend the evening together. Jooyun, exhausted from the activities from the entire day, went to bed even earlier than he usually does.
"He's asleep?" Mingi sat up from bed as you came back into the room. You nodded and climbed into bed with him.
"Come here, my love." Mingi pulled you to him.
"Happy birthday, Song Mingi. I hope you enjoyed yourself and had a good birthday. Thank you for being you." You looked up at him, meeting his eyes. Mingi squeezed your waist.
"Thank you for today. Even if the boys' plan was to make you ignore me, the party itself was great. Couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my birthday." Mingi smiled softly, kissing the top of your head.
"I'm glad." You giggled.
"You know, I realised something." Mingi suddenly said. You tilted your head at him.
"I always say my birthday doesn't mean much to me but today, I think it does. Because it's when I get to spend an entire day with you." He hugged you tightly.
"Oh, Mingi. You can always spend time with me, not only on your birthday." You stroked his cheek with your thumb.
"Mm-mm, it's different. I don't know how to describe it, maybe it's because I know we won't be interrupted by our jobs or anyone else on this day. It's just a day where we can be in our own bubble. With Jooyun, of course. I hate when my job takes me away from the both of you." He smiled sadly.
"I know it's hard but if it weren't for your job, we wouldn't have met. We may spend time apart but you know you'll always have the two of us to come home to." You smiled softly.
"I know. I am so grateful for everything you do for me while I barely give anything to you and Jooyun in return." He nodded.
"Don't say that, you do a lot for me too, Mingi. And Jooyun loves you dearly." You giggled.
"I love you both so much. You're already everything I could ever wish for and on top of that, you gave me Jooyun. Thank you." He leaned down to press his lips against yours.
"Are you going to tell me what you wished for?" You asked.
"I thought you're not supposed to tell what you wished for or else it won't come true?" Mingi teased.
"I'm sure there are exceptions, such as to the mother of your child." You rolled your eyes. Mingi laughed and hugged your waist, burying his face against your chest like Jooyun does.
"Okay, I'm not lying. I really didn't wish for anything. I didn't see the need to. I already have you, I have Jooyun. There's nothing else I want but for the both of you to be happy and healthy." Mingi smiled softly, tucking a lock of hair behind your ear.
"As long as we have you, we'll always be happy and healthy." You hummed, feeling your heart swell at his words.
"You've raised Jooyun well, I'm excited to watch him grow up with you. And perhaps, even watch other children grow up with him." Mingi squeezed your hand.
"We've raised Jooyun well. I couldn't have done this alone, Min. Don't shortchange what you've done too." You stroked his head.
"And when the time comes, when we're ready, we can discuss having more children." You added.
"Really? You would have more? With me?" He met your eyes, his own sparkling with anticipation and excitement. You burst out laughing, cupping his cheeks in your hands.
"Of course with you! Who else? And I'm not making promises but I am open to the idea of giving Jooyun siblings." You said.
"Also, I noticed that you said 'siblings' plural so that means you're open to having more than one more. Now, I really can't wait for that to happen." Mingi smirked playfully and squeezed your waist, making your cheeks heat up.

“Okay, it’s cake time !” You said, clapping your hands with impatience. You had made small cupcakes for your baby’s first birthday, which came way too fast, if you were asked. Time was running, but your baby was running faster for a few weeks now. You just spent the day with your family, had a real good time at the beach. You took a bunch of cute pictures to send to all the uncles and family. Seonghwa was the best playtime partner, since your son seemed to be insatiable about playing today. Balls, toys, cubes, and everything. He wanted to have the best time of his life. This day was a core memory. You came home at dinner time, to celebrate with a little fancy dinner yall could share. The little one had a good time, but now it was time for him to blow out his first candle. You light it in the kitchen, while Seonghwa keeps your son busy. You finally come back, starting to sing the usual traditional "Happy Birthday." Your partner joins you to sing with you, as you advance the cake at the boy’s height. But his reaction makes you smile. "He’s fascinated." You point out to the dad. "Do you think he’ll want to blow on the flame? Is he scared?" You could feel in Hwa’s voice that he was starting to panic a little bit. What a hands-on dad he was. “Breathe honey, he’s just looking at it waving.” You try to reassure your lover. “You’re gonna burn yourself, honey.” You nod your head negatively before turning to the baby. "Are you blowing on it, angel?" You’re showing him how to do it, without extinguishing the flame, but he’s completely fixated on the movements she draws. “Come on, sweetheart, you can blow on it. We’ll help you if you want." Keep encouraging Seonghwa. Suddenly the child started to laugh as he looked at the flame. You and Seonghwa exchanged a puzzled but amused look. What could have made him laugh like that? Finally, before the wax from the candle runs over the cake you blow on the candle, while your companion puts a kiss on the top of the skull of your little boy. “Happy birthday, angel." He said. You put the cake on the baby’s high chair after removing the candle. He immediately put his tiny hand on the cream at the top of the cake to put some in his mouth, but ended up putting food all over his face, which made him laugh so much. He was such a happy baby, you couldn't help but feel so much love and tender to that little person.
Later on, after a good cleaning session, you three were seated on the giant bed you and your husband were sharing. Unwrapping presents before bedtime. “Okay buddy, here’s the last one. And Dad chose it, very specially for you.” Said your partner by your side. The box wasn’t that big, but it made a lot of noise if you shake it. “ Oh ! What could it be, Bubba ? Open it !” You tear a small part of the paper, so that it can reach and pull on the paper in turn. Her tiny, poteled hand closes around the paper and you come to help her remove the wrapping piece by piece. "Oh! Look, honey, Lego!" You threw, surprise. You didn’t know he was going to give her this. But in the end, you could almost have guessed it. It was not as if your companion’s desk was filled with little figurines, raised of course since the baby was born. “It’s giant Legos ! That way, we can both make small constructions!" Seonghwa says with a little too much excitement in her voice. " Your first Lego! You’re going to have so much fun with Dad, angel." The toddler babbles between your arms, before crawling gently towards his father, not caring about the game box that was in front of him. Would you like to go and try them now?" he asks, catching the little one up against him. You realize at the same time how much they are alike, both of them. You had given birth to your husband’s perfect copy. It was just as well that he became a fan of construction as his father and now you will have the impression of having given him a tiny version of himself. The boy’s head is resting against his dad’s chest, yawning with his mouth open. "I guess that’s a very honest way to say no. You’re right, it’s tiring to be a year old." You both left the bed to hug him very tightly and say a few times how much he was loved and cherished. You put him in his bed, when his eyes were closed and took the time to admire the little perfect man you made, pressed against Hwa’s body. “You’re the best dad in the whole world for our little boy.” You whispered. He kisses the top of your head, tightening his embrace. "I would be nothing without him, and even less without you. You are my world.”

“You definitely should be asleep now” You begged your little boy that would not go to sleep tonight. You tried everything, feed him, change him, rock him, sing him lullabies. The poor boy was constantly showing his dissatisfaction with tears and cries. His bad mood was not of tonight. It must have been because his morning nap made him angry. Or was it the teeth that were hurting? Your baby was babbling and leaving traces of it on the way. Whatever his grumpy mood, you didn’t really know what to do. Especially since you still had so much to prepare. Tomorrow you will go to the Hongjoong family for your first baby’s birthday. You couldn’t even delegate, since your partner was still in the studio. "I beg of you." you sighed at the little human who lay between your arms. Even the carrying did not work, although he loved to rest against your heart.
"It’s your birthday that makes you sad? It’s your poor mother who should be sad that you’re growing up so fast!" You say, watching him without understanding why he was so upset. "What should I say then?" You hear the voice of your companion rising in the living room, making you jump. With the baby crying you didn’t even hear him come in. "Well, that’s a hell of a chagrin!" he said, approaching you. He puts a kiss on your lips, and a hand on yours against your son. I don’t know how to calm him down, he refuses to fall asleep, nothing works." You’re groaning and resting your head on his shoulder. “Okay, would you let me try?”You nod and let him try to put the baby carrier, before handing him the little sobbing boy. As soon as he was perfectly installed in the fabric, your son instantly stopped crying. “You just wanted your dad…” Your mother’s heart is tinged with a sweet emotion, while an ounce of relief creeps into your mind. The little boy’s sobs cease and he slowly puts his head against his father’s chest. “Little daddy’s boy.” Your partner says, while wrapping his arms around you, your baby was surrounded by the two of you, now. but his big round eyes were darted on the face of him, whom he looked so alike. Hongjoong was the only one who could put him asleep when he was just a newborn. As he grew up things changed, but on the eve of his first birthday, we must believe that he needed nothing more than to feel his dad. “As in his first days.” You commented. “I can’t believe he’s turning one tomorrow.” Life has been crazy, lately. “The best year of our life, baby.” he says, making you smile. “It was. We’re lucky.” You add, before coming to drop a kiss on the top of the skull of your still well awake baby. “Appa!” Said the little boy, making you both surprised. He never said a complete word before, only baby mumblings until tonight. “Did you say Appa ? Can you say it again ?” Hongjoong asks to his son. And the baby did. Appa ! You couldn’t help but feel so proud of your son, even though he definitely was his father’s son. “Your first word on your birthday ! I’m so proud of you buddy.” You say to the baby. “And I’m proud of us, honey.” Add Joong to your hear. You definitely wouldn’t have it any other way.

“How’s my little pumpkin this morning ?” You say, while taking your baby by your side on the bed. Covering both your bodies, while nursing her for the first time of the day. You took the time to picture her small little face against your skin. You didn’t realize she was already one. She was the perfect little cutie. Since birth she slept nearly through the whole night, only waking up a few times to be fed and changed. She used to sleep between you and Yunho, who loved having his daughter by his side. At one point, he was the one who refused that she goes into a big girl bed next to yoursYou understood real fast that he was way more anxious than you were about the baby's safety. He took her everywhere he could and when he couldn't, he rushed back home as soon as possible. It was really important for him to be able to feel her and to build a strong connection with his daughter. He helped her to learn everyday, and she's the best learner ever. You were both so proud of her.
You caress her little cheek, You love those little times, when your bodies are pressed against each other, her little hand caressing your skin. It was a privileged time with her, and you cherished every little part of it, even the hardest ones. Suddenly, the buzzing sound of your phone, took you out of your admiration. It was Yunho facetiming you. “Hi, handsome.” You say, answering the call “Hi, pretty ! Wanted to see if you were okay.” He says, all smiley through the screen. The phone is tilted to allow him to admire the two women in his life. “We're all good. Pumpkin was very hungry this morning.” You said, feeling her moving against you, so her eyes could reach her dad through the phone. She quickly comes off to stand up against you, while you lift the fabric of your top. “-ppa !” squealing the little girl and waving her tiny hand, as if to grab the phone. “Yes it's Appa, honey.” You confirm, surrounding her little body with an arm. “Happy Birthday, princess !” he says. The baby started clapping happily in her hands. “When are you coming home ?” You ask since you wanted to spend that special day with your husband too. “We're at the airport! I'll be here in a few hours !” He made sure everything was right to be here right on time. “My case is full of sweet presents for our little pumpkin.” He was way too joyful. You were pretty sure that there was a present for him in this suitcase, such as a new game or new devices for his setup. “Our angel will be so spoiled ! Have a safe flight, sweet. Love you !” You say, before leaning to your baby and whisper in her ear. “Send a kiss to Appa, Pumpkin” Automatically the baby stas sending kisses to the phone, melting your heart seeing how cute she was. “Can't wait to be with you. Love you too, my dear.” The call ended and you grab your baby to take your breakfast and start the day.
The sweet little girl has been a pure angel for the whole morning. She refused to take a nap but wanted to play all the time. For a few times, she tried to take her first steps, but ended up failing and falling back on her tiny butt. The last time she fell, she left her sweet teary eyes at you. “Oh no, baby, it's okay, don't be sad. You'll get it !” You hand her another block to distract her little mind from the failure. Soon you heard the door opening and you immediately lifted your head to catch Yunho's gaze as he entered the room, fully packed. “Here's my little family !” He says, the cutest smile on his face. He let down his bags just so he could rush to kiss you. “I hate being far away from you.” He whispers after kissing you. It was only two days but you missed him so much. “ Come here little Pumpkin.” Yunho says, rushing to his now one year old. “You've grown so much, in just two days !!” You couldn't help but smile. The baby laughed at all the kisses he left on her soft skin as if it tickled her. He put her back on the mattress, to go and grab a little package from his suitcase. “Hey. We said we would give her presents at the party.” You complain. You wanted to give her all of her beautiful new toys. But your husband had another idea. He sat on the mattress next to you. Your daughter was standing, playing with her cubes on the bench and she turned her head to her dad with the biggest smile. She reached out her little hand to her father, who urged her to join him. For a few seconds, the toddler looked for balance before she did it. One foot after the other, she took her first step before your perfectly amazed eyes. She lost balance in her father's arms who looked at her with so much pride. You couldn't hold back the little tear of pride. “You did it, Pumpkin! Just like the little champ you are.” He greeted her. You clapped your hands to congratulate her and she joined you, with all her joyful heart. “I'm so proud of you ! That's a big step, just on your birthday !” How amazing that was. “ She was trying for a few days, but kept falling in the end.” You informed your husband. “She waited for us to be reunited. Now she's going to run everywhere.” He says, wishing you both good luck. But you knew he couldn't wait to chase after his daughter.
𝑲𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒀𝒆𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒈 - (wc : 869)
It was the most perfect day ever. You had the best party at home for your son’s first birthday. Everyone was there, the boys even wore their alter-ego costumes for the birthday boy’s delight. He couldn’t help but giggle all day long, watching his dad and uncles playing cute. You had to admit it was quite fun to see them play. When the little party ended, you three met again to blow out the candles one last time. It was a great emotion to see that your baby was already growing so fast. Yeosang had also had bright eyes all day, he shared your emotion. You had tried for a long time to have that little piece of you, that today you cherished the least of the moments by his side. Now you were gently playing on the playmat, when you saw the baby yawning vividly. “That big day was exhausting, right ?” You say to the sweet and discreet boy, crawling to his dad, who catches him real fast, to hug him tight. “We should go to bed, buddy.” Yeosang says, patting his son’s hair, which was so endearing. “One last pic, first !” You say, while grabbing your polaroid camera, that followed you through your pregnancy and the first year of your dear boy. The flash of the camera blinds you for a few seconds, before printing the image. “Who do you want to go to bed with, baby ?” You ask the little one. He clenches himself even more against his father, showing how much he wished that it was him who accompanied him to the arms of Morpheus. “Seems like it'll be me for today.” Says your partner. “Imma sing him to sleep, I'll be back in a bit.” A wave of kisses to your husband and your son and a hug later, he disappeared in the baby's room.
You could hear him sing from the living room, where you were still seated. He used to sing lullabies to the baby when he was in the womb. He did it for the whole nine months of your pregnancy and now he practically was the only one who was able to put him to sleep. His voice was soothing the baby the way nothing or nobody does. It was pure magic.
You take a look at the Polaroïds you took earlier, and it was the most heartwarming thing you've ever seen. The three of you were all smiley and purely happy. Compared to the first pic you took as a family, your boy looked so grown up. You grab the white box that was hidden under the couch. In there, there was every little memory of that first year. Your pregnancy test, your first ultrasound, the bracelet the baby wore in the hospital. There also was the little thing that announced his name and his birthday. His first beanie, his first socks, his tiny handprint, but most of all, every picture you took, through this whole year. “Darling ?” Yeosang says, through the room. “Are you okay ?” There's no doubt, he got all your emotions. He knew you so well. “Y-Yes ! I was going down memory lane. All of this feels like it was yesterday.” You say, emotions tangling your voice. “I know. But this one, this is my favorite memory.” He pointed to the polaroid Yunho took the day before you gave birth to your treasure. Yeo was holding you so close, his hands resting on your baby's home, there was sunset behind you. It was an amazing picture. “I remember that night, everything went so amazingly, and everything that happened next, made me love you even more” Your heart bursted so fast, as he said those words. “I love our family so much.” You say, resting your head on his shoulder, and taking the first sleepers your baby wore in the hospital. “Do you remember when he was so tiny ? You could fit his two little feet in your hand !” An emotive smile took place in your face. “Yeah. He was so small I was afraid to break him.” He confesses, wrapping an arm around you. “We should write him a note, for when we’ll give him this box.” He suggests and you nod real fast, you take a paper and a pen. “Wanna go first ?” You ask by handing her the pen. "We should both do that instead. You write?" You nod and both of you start thinking about what to write. Finally the word is written by itself and you come out, your heart swollen with tenderness. Everything was perfect.
To our treasure.

“Yes ladies and gentlemen, you heard it here first. One of Hollywood's biggest bachelors is officially off the market and, according to sources, has been for a while. After hours of speculation since the announcement made last night it has now been revealed that the identity of the mystery woman who won actor Park Seonghwa's heart is no other than his longtime assistant known by many of his fans as Y/N. Remember to stay tuned as the details come in throughout the week as well as for more gossip about Hollywood's biggest stars-,” the stream cuts off as soon as Rhea turns to face the pair lawyers, his publicist and agency manager present as well. Seonghwa feels sick to his stomach as much, if not more, than Y/N as his agency manager pinches the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath before speaking. “Before I begin to question how this got leaked in the first place. Can we first start with all the rules that have been broken. We have a strict no dating talent rule when it comes to our associates and not only have you two done exactly that but now you're playing house too according to the secret items tabloid being threatened over our heads,” the manager says to Seonghwa his throat going dry, “In all honesty I should be releasing both of you today for a breach of contracts but considering you guys are too good at your respective jobs I don't want to bother looking for mediocre replacements I've already lost 2 actors and one singer due to scandals beyond repair over the years and i'm still dealing with repercussions to this day I don't need another one. And you,” he turns to Y/N, “Hiding a whole child from us when you know how time consuming the role and your new offered role are is risky. Although you aren't breaking any rules, your actions do reflect the kind of employee you are to your employer and could severely affect the results of your promotion. I hope you realize that. As for the rest of you, I want this fixed and find out who leaked this information to the press before the world premiere and press tour of Dreamers or so help me all of you are done.” he gets up exiting the conference room.
They all turn to find Rhea flipping him off after the door slams causing everyone except Julie to gasp shocked by her actions, “Oh please you guys act as if you don't even know me it's embarrassing,” she rolls her eyes taking a seat, “In all seriousness though how are we going to fix this,” she says before handing the small waste bin to Y/N who stared at her with a confused expression, “Oh trust me you're gonna need it in 3..2..1,” and as if on cue she turned her chair before releasing her breakfast into the bin, Rhea holding her hair up as Julie grabbed a cup of water from the dispenser, “there you go. Now please tell me this is due to nerves and not the alternative because if it is then we'll really all be dead,” she turned to Seonghwa who could only look at her with guilty eyes.
“We don't know that's what we were trying to find out when we got called but if it is I take full responsibility for it and will take full blame. I'll say I coerced her and hid it behind your guys’ back. The only reason we're in this mess in the first place is because of me and none of you deserve to lose your livelihoods over me,” Seonghwa admitted.
“Look as much as we may value your valor and selflessness Seonghwa we also enabled it we're all to blame. Even then contracts or not you can't mess with human nature. I'm sure you two aren't the first to do this in the industry and you most definitely will not be the last we'll figure it out little by little,” Rhea reassured them as she rubbed circles on Y/N's back as she took deep breaths, “First things first we find out the cause to your puking spells,” she turns to Y/N as she takes a reluctant deep breath.
Y/N paced back and forth across Seonghwa's trailer as they all waited patiently for the results |. As she turned she quietly to go around again she fought with her inner monologue. “I can't be pregnant, we can't, we used protection, but then his birthday and the beach, god why did i have to be so stupid, but we would have known by now, but i didn't have morning sickness with Elijah so maybe it is just food poisoning but they say that morning sickness depends on the sperm, then if that's the case he sick for that, but then you let him, oh my god i'm beginning to act hormonal, why am I acting like a teen again i'm a grown a-,” she's interrupted by Seonghwa who was now standing in front of her cupping her face. Her eyes widen as she comes to realize he had been trying to get her attention. She sighs the stress beginning to settle in her head and showing in her eyes instead tears welling in her eyes absent mindedly putting a hand over her uterus. Reading her expression he rubs a gentle thumb over her cheek before pulling her close, resting her head over hers rubbing circles on her back.
“You don't have to say anything right now, just listen to me. Whatever that test says I'll be by your side regardless and although I would want more than anything to have a little one of our own and make Elijah a big brother I only want it if you do and when you're ready and if that's not what you want that's okay too. At the end of the day you choose and I'll be there to support you,” Seonghwa finishes kissing the top of her head.
With that the tears begin to flow staining his hoodie. “You got a whole village to back you up this time,” Rhea pipes up, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Julia gets up to join them in a group hug agreeing. Y/N wipes her tears, sighing happily looking at part of her new village that she had gained since living in LA. Rhea was right even before Elijah was well known news they had always had her back through thick and thin even more so after. She nodded softly, mouthing a silent thank you. She leans against them as the timer rings, the 4 of them turning towards the phone and test laying on the counter. “Do you want me to check for you?” Rhea asks. Y/N shakes her head pulling away from Seonghwa to check. She takes a deep breath picking up the test seeing the two lines present as ever on both tests. She turns to Seonghwa hands softly shaking a bittersweet feeling overcoming her. A mix of excitement of the future and dread from their current predicament. She chokes back a mix of tears and a laugh. “Really?” Seonghwa asks as she only nods in response, causing to envelop her in a tight hug as she smiles in his embrace nestling her head in the crook of his neck. For a short moment it's only those 4 in their own little bubble.
“I'm supposing your reaction means you're | keeping it?” Julie asks cautiously.
“Most likely but it's still all so quick and with everything going on and Elijah,” Y/N rambles.
“Take your time but for now think of you and your family and let us deal with the rest,” Rhea reassures.
“I can't ask you guys to take all that on,” Y/N shakes her head.
“You have enough to worry about, please,” a vulnerable side of Rhea that is rarely shown appearing, “I promise we'll be here when you're ready.”
“Now both of you shoo and go home we'll get to the bottom of this and present a game plan to you later,” said Julie rushing them out before returning, “We have our work cut out for us,” she sighs, turning to face Rhea.
“That we do,” Rhea nods.
Curious on their predicament they decide to go to the doctor wanting a bit more clarity. The nurse walked into the room bringing out the results, “Your tests we're correct you guys are expecting. Congratulations mom and dad to be. All that's left is to find out how far along you are and you'll be on your way until you can see your own doctor which will be in 2 days so if mom you don't mind laying back for me and lifting your shirt bit,” the nurse explained. Seonghwa sensing Y/N's nerves gave her hand a gentle squeeze of reassurance reminding her of their agreement. “If you want we can wait till your appointment no big deal, give you time to think,” he explains.
“No it's ok it's just been awhile,” Y/N says taking a deep breath.
“Nerves are perfectly normal, planned or unplanned, take your time dear,” the nurse reassures.
Y/N lays back giving the nurse a small nod to proceed after lifting her shirt. “Jelly is a bit cold so bear with me,” the nurse explains before proceeding.
“And there they are I would say you're about 17 weeks so about 4 months. Let's see if we can get a heartbeat,” the nurse says, turning on the sound, the baby's heartbeat strong and prominent, “perfectly healthy baby, did you want to know the gender, sweetie?” the nurse asked, turning to Y/N.
“No, I'm ok, I don't plan on keeping it. I'm giving it up for adoption and moving on,” Y/N replies with hesitation in her voice her face turned away from the doppler machine not wanting to see it in fear of getting attached, “They'll be better off with someone better suited to be a mother than me,” she sighs taking the towel from the nurse wiping her belly, “Thank you though I appreciate.”
“If you change your mind there are plenty of resources made to help you and your child just let us know,” the nurse explains finishing her chart.
~Present Day~
“There’s the little one, definitely looks like they're getting dad's height but even then i'd estimate you're about 10 weeks out. Let's see if we can get a heartbeat,” the nurse states adjusting the machine, “Here we go sounds strong you guys have a perfectly healthy baby according to your tests,”she beams. The nurse helps her wipe her belly before letting her get up. “Just follow through with your doctor so you guys can begin to discuss birthing plans that work best for you.”
The pair nod, taking the papers as they follow the nurse through the clinic towards the exit thanking her before making their way home. Pulling into the driveway of Y/N's house Seonghwa parks his car taking a deep breath, “I guess we should discuss a plan at least of some sort regardless of the outcome,” he suggests.
“We should, I forgot how much goes into it considering last time I was in straight up fight mode,” Y/N nodded softly, “Are you sure you're okay with having a kid and a baby around. I mean I get Elijah is older but a baby I mean your career is really starting to take off now and a baby takes up a lot of time an-,” she's cut off by him holding her hand.
“Hey we'll figure it out as we go okay. I'm not gonna say i have it all planned but I will say i'm willing to take this challenge on and this risk if you are. We're a team and even the its you who comes first not me you carry the biggest weight both metaphorically and physically. We'll start small, what's our timeline in just chapters we can always discuss details in the days and weeks that come. We have 30 weeks give or take,” he suggests.
“Well first I guess is telling Elijah and then I guess choosing one roof to live under,” she ponders.
“There's a start,” he nods, smiling softly.
The pair headed inside, continuing their conversation, waiting till the boy returned with his adopted grandma from their excursion. As the days went by work was still tense but either his home or hers became their safe haven as they discussed their future and planned while enjoying the moments with just the 3 or 4 of them deciding to reveal the news to everyone either when she started showing or after the third trimester in case of any complications. Seonghwa spent more time away than he liked due to the premiere of his latest project nearing as well as working a contingency with Rhea, Julie, and San, not wanting to stress Y/N any further. Y/N, on the other hand, continued to burn the letters with no return address, claiming to be her parents, believing it to be some cruel joke. When the letters ceased, she believed her suspicions had been confirmed only for her to be proven wrong in the worst way possible.

KIM HONGJOONG x ARTIST!F!READER ( fake dating, strangers to friends to lovers )
you felt stupid for some reason. like you should have never agreed to doing the blind date your friend insisted on setting up for you.
mainly because right now you are getting stood up, it’s been twenty minutes past the time you were suppose to meet your date and now you just feel silly. maybe you should just go home.
“um, excuse me, are you y/n?” a voice asks behind you and you turn to see probably one of the most handsomest men you have ever seen.
everything about him was just so put together. his split hair being eye catching and his outfit just being so stylish makes you feel underdressed if you’re being honest.
“yes! I’m y/n, are you hongjoong?”
“haha, yes i am, sorry i was late. i got caught up with work,” he says before he’s walking you towards the restaurant doors. “shall we go in and talk?”
you nod and can’t help the heat going to your cheeks as he opens the door for you before following close behind you into the restaurant.
“to be honest, i only agreed to this date because my friend has been pressuring me to try and date,” he says and you feel an odd twist in your stomach. he didn’t even want to be on this date.
so that’s why he was late, you think to yourself as you nod at his words. granted at first you weren’t that excited to be going on a blind date, but you really did want to get out there and start dating.
“my friend insisted i go on this date as well. she tells me that maybe going on a few dates here and there would help with my creative block that i’ve been in for the past few months,” you tell him with a laugh and he nods at your words.
“i hate creative blocks,” he says as he runs a hand through his split colored hair. “what do you do for a living?”
“i’m an artist. i do a lot of commission paintings and illustrations for children books. i also do paintings for myself and a few galleries here and there when they want me.”
“you’re an artist? that sounds amazing,” he says and you notice the immediate stars appearing in his eyes and you feel a sudden boost in your ego. “i think if i wasn’t so in love with music, i would definitely have become a painter.”
“hey, i suddenly just had an idea,” hongjoong says which quickly earns your attention as you look up from your food. “this might seem crazy, but what do you think about pretending to date?”
“pretending to date? what do you mean?”
“well it’s obvious that i’m not interested in actually dating and you’re in a creative block, so what if we help each other out. we pretend to date so i can get my friend off my back and when we do hangout, i help you try to get out of your creative block. a win-win if you ask me.”
god, what kind of fanfic are you living in right now. fake date an idol? that sounds like a recipe for disaster, but you can’t ignore how tempting it sounds. you really do need to get out of your creative block soon in time for the next exhibit and maybe doing painting based on love could be a good thing to try.
“okay, let’s do it.”
hongjoong smiles at your words before saying, “can’t wait to fake date you!”
PARK SEONGHWA x IDOL!F!READER ( strangers to lovers, nct added member )
you looked so pretty, sitting there along with the other hosts is what seonghwa thought as he watched you from where he was sitting with his members. he licked his lips, stars in his eyes as he still couldn’t wrap his head around seeing you.
his members would tease him later but he didn’t care. you’ve been his celebrity crush for a while now, even back when he was a trainee, he’s adored you.
and recently he found out that he was your ideal type. he felt like it was a huge ego boost. he wanted to talk to you, but at the same time he was nervous.
some of his members — i.e wooyoung and san — told him he should give you his number while they were in the show. he tried arguing with them, telling them no and that he honestly couldn’t because what if you rejected him. he couldn’t handle such a rejection from you.
“you should just try it, hyung, i’m sure she’ll say yes,” san said and once they all took a break in filming it was san who pushed seonghwa over towards you.
“hi, um, i’m ateez’s seonghwa,” he says and cringes at how he chose to introduce himself.
“oh, hi, it’s nice to you meet finally you seonghwa! i’m nct’s y/n,” you say as the two of you bow to each other.
“i just wanted to say that i’ve been a big fan of yours for a while and wanted to know if you would want to hangout sometime?”
you look surprised by his sudden question and seonghwa wonders if maybe he crossed a line, but your words are quick to make him think otherwise.
“o-of course! i would love to hangout sometime!” you say and seonghwa can’t help but find you extremely adorable in this moment.
“do you… maybe want to exchange numbers?”
“yes, sure, of course!” you say and seonghwa laughs at your response as he pulls his phone out while you do the same. you two are quick to exchange numbers before the producers are calling for everyone to return to the spots. “i guess we’ll talk later, right?”
“definitely.”
“great, good luck on your group’s performance!” the two of you wave before you walk off and seonghwa can’t help the lovestruck feeling that over takes him.
“soooo… how did it go?” san asks coming up to the eldest member with a sly smirk.
“shut up,” seonghwa says before shoving san slightly and walking back to join the rest of the members.
JEONG YUNHO x GAME DEVELOPER!F!READER ( strangers to lovers, dad!yunho )
you were use to being alone. especially since you started living abroad in korea away from your friends and family you had grown up with and cherished. you often relied on memories to keep you company, but recently one of your coworkers told you a solution to your loneliness.
“a dog?” you had only thought about getting a pet a few times, but concluded that maybe getting one while being abroad wasn’t the best idea. your job wasn’t always the most stable as any game you and your team were working on could get cancelled last minute. plus you were still slowly trying to figure out how to take care of yourself, let alone a dog.
“you should think about it! there’s an adoption center nearby, so maybe check it out sometime,” they told you and only agreed to think about it.
and think about it you did because the next thing you knew, you were making your way to the adoption center.
you were going to adopt a dog.
you decided that maybe it was for the best to adopt a dog, maybe having someone else to take care of would make you less lonely. and of course it would get you out of the house more…
and that’s exactly what is happening three weeks after you adopted a cute labrador retriever named lily who you just immediately connected with. she has a lot of energy, that’s for sure but you don’t mind.
that’s actually how you found yourself at the park, playing fetch with her. throwing the bright yellow ball and watching lily as she goes and retrieves it.
you watch as she runs back to you, ball in her mouth as she drops it in front of you. picking it up, you toss it and your surprised by how far it goes. watching the ball land in the ground and roll to a complete stranger, a black cap on his head and mask pulled up over his face. the stranger picks the ball up right as lily comes barreling towards him.
“wait, lily!” you shout as you watch her pounce the man and you immediately take off towards the two. “oh my gosh, i am so sorry!”
the man laughs as he shakes his head and gives lily the ball. lily turns to run back to you, but seems surprised and happy to see you right there next to her.
“no worries, i probably shouldn’t have picked the ball up,” he says and even if he’s wearing a mask, you can tell he’s smiling from how his eyes crinkle.
“still i am so sorry, i just adopted her and we’re still learning,” you say, feeling an embarrassed heat take over your face.
“really, don’t worry about, but if you still feel guilty how about you take me to get some coffee? i know a good dog friendly café that’s nearby,” he says as he bends down to pet lily.
wow, he’s smooth. “o-oh, uh, sure! um, i’m y/n and this is lily!” you say and cringe at how a little too excited you seemed.
“i’m yunho.”
KANG YEOSANG x FASHION STUDENT!F!READER ( idol and fan to friends to lovers )
you actually managed to get into a fansign. and one for your ult group nonetheless. you were so excited that you almost threw up, twice. but you didn’t! then as the day drew closer, you got more nervous. you were worried about what would happen if you accidentally made a fool of yourself in front of your favorite group.
oh god what if you tripped! no, don’t think like that because then you will definitely trip.
when the day finally came, you made sure to dress cutely. despite knowing that none of the members would probably remember you, you still wanted to look cute so that you could look back fondly on this memory.
however, what was suppose to be a good day with meeting your favorite group soon turned into probably the worst day you’ve had in a while.
first you had to chase after your cat after she managed to escape your apartment. then you miss your bus by a second — you literally watched it take off as you were running down the crowded street to make it. so in a hurry you grab a cab in order to take you to the fansign. thankfully you managed to grab a cab fairly easy and arriving there was also just as easy.
however, it started going down once again when you tried to enter the fansign and the guard stops you.
“sorry this is a fake ticket,” he says before handing you your paper back. you’re completely shocked as you look at him.
“w-what?” you are easily pushed aside by the other fans behind you and you let them as you are still in shock. you were scammed into believing you had actually won a fansign with ateez.
what kind of cruel world is this you think as you walk outside the building and onto the steps. you know you probably shouldn’t be sitting here, but your legs don’t allow you to go any further. even after the fansign started, you find yourself still sitting on the steps. you can only faintly hear ateez from inside along with all the lucky atiny who didn’t get scammed.
when the fansign is over and all the fans had seemingly left, you find yourself on a nearby bench. you can’t help but look at your ateez album and wondering how this day that was suppose to be a great one turned out to be so… disheartening.
“excuse me,” a deep voice startles you from your thought and you turn to see… yeosang standing next to you. “did you go to the fansign?” he asks, gesturing to your album.
“o-oh, no, i didn’t. i had a fake ticket,” you say before you quickly wonder why you are explaining it to him.
“oh, i’m sorry…” he says trailing off before you watch something click in his head as his whole face lights up, “do you mind if i take it for a moment?” he asks, again gesturing to your album and you willingly hand it over. “what’s your name?”
“y/n.”
once he has your album, he motions for you to say before he dashes off back into the building. it’s several minutes later when he returns and hands you back your… now signed album.
“thank you for supporting ateez,” he says with a small bow before a man — who you assume is his manager — calls for him and yeosang is soon disappearing back into the building with a small smile and wave as a quick goodbye.
what… just happened? you look at your album, quickly opening it and flipping through the pages to notice how each member had signed it. however you notice something different when you get to yeosang’s pages.
“sorry you got scammed, but hopefully this makes it better! btw you looked cute, so smile okay? xx-xxx-xxx”
did you just get kang yeosang’s number?
CHOI SAN x COLLEGE STUDENT!F!READER ( idol and fan to friends to lovers )
no way. no fucking way. this was not happening. there was no way THE choi san was standing right in front of you while you dressed like an elderly woman. not that there was anything wrong with dressing like an elderly woman, but meeting your bias while dressed as such was not ideal.
“oh? are you the exchange student my grandma was talking about?” oh shit, his grandmother talked about you to him.
“u-um, y-yeah, i’m y/n,” wow, smooth y/n, real smooth.
“ah, well if you need help with anything while i’m here let me know,” he says with a smile before turning and walking away leaving you a little dumbfounded.
you watch him walk back into the room that is only just down the hall from yours and felt your heart jump down to your stomach. holy crap, choi san is staying only a few rooms from you. what kind of fanfic trope is this?!
this had to be a dream, this had to be anything but real. you refuse to believe it. you slowly closed your bedroom door, walked over to your bed, and grabbed your pillow before screaming into it.
these next two weeks were going to be interesting, that’s for sure.
SONG MINGI x WEBTOON ARTIST!F!READER ( strangers to friends to lovers )
mingi felt weird. not weird in a bad way, but just felt… weird. actually he wasn’t really sure how to explain it. his mom had asked him to go greet their new neighbor who was his age.
was this her way of trying to get him to start dating? to have him meet her new neighbor and have them just… fall in love?
but even if it was weird, mingi didn’t argue or question his mom and so that’s how he found himself standing in front of your door ready to knock and introduce himself.
when he did knock, it took a few minutes before someone eventually came to the door. and mingi won’t lie, you looked like you hadn’t seen another human for a few days with how disheveled you looked.
he wasn’t trying to judge you or anything, but it was quite obvious.
“can i help you?” you ask after you both stood there in silence for a few moments.
“o-oh, um, i’m mingi. my mom lives next door and wanted me to give you this as a welcome present,” he says presenting the kimchi he almost forgot he had in his hands.
you glanced down at his hands and noticed the container of kimchi. he seen you hesitate for a moment before you took it with gentle hands and that was probably the softest thing he’d witnessed from you since meeting you less than five minutes ago.
“thank you,” you said before going back into your apartment and closing the door behind you.
“so how did it go?” his mom asked once he returned. mingi still felt like the interaction happened a little too fast for his liking.
“it was… okay. she’s seems… interesting.”
“good! maybe this could be the start of a new friendship!”
“yeah, a new friendship.”
JUNG WOOYOUNG x IDOL!F!READER ( strangers to friends )
“just talk to him, y/n, what could go wrong?” your group member insisted as you both stood near the vending machines at music show.
“a lot could go wrong and then i would just end up looking stupid in front of him and never be able to show my face in front of him again,” you told her and she gave you a pointed look as if to say really? but yes, really!
“come on, y/n, why don’t we go visit him and his group under the guise of giving them our album? maybe then you can get the chance to talk to him,” she suggests and you are about to deny it when she stops you and drags you back to your group’s dressing room.
which is how you all end up knocking on ateez’s dressing room door, your group’s album clutched tightly in your grip. when ateez’s manager opens the door, your leader bows and introduces you all and tells him how you wish to gift ateez a copy of your album.
“hello, we are visage,” you all say in unison before ateez is quick to also introduce themselves.
“we were just wanting to gift you all a copy of our album,” your leader says before gesturing to you who was still tightly holding onto the album.
your other group member gives you a light push which makes you step forward. your eyes flicker between wooyoung and the album before you’re quickly holding the album out for the dancer to take. could you have been any more obvious about your feelings? probably, but you didn’t want to think about it.
you really wish a giant hole would open up on the ground and swallow you up right now. wooyoung only smiles as he takes the album from you and you step back in your spot between your members.
your leader and hongjoong speak a little bit more before your group leaves and once back in the safety of your dressing room, you collapse onto the leather couch. again, can a giant hole just please swallow you up. you lay there for several minutes, just accepting that you probably made a fool of yourself in front of your crush.
ding! you look up and at your phone to see you got a text from an unknown number
‘hey this is wooyoung! love your dance covers let’s hangout sometime and film one together!!!’
CHOI JONGHO x PRODUCER!F!READER ( co-workers to lovers )
jongho felt his jaw dropped when he was told that you would be working for kq and especially with ateez. how the company managed that is beyond him, but he’s not complaining.
of course his first time meeting you could have gone better than him causing you a nose bleed, but alas not everything goes as plan.
jongho doesn’t even remember all of what happened. one minute he was waiting to record his lines when he had to use the bathroom. so when he opens the door, he opens it smacking you in the face and watching you fall to the floor. your bag falling and papers scattering around you and jongho feels like his soul should have left his body.
“oh fuck, i am so sorry, are you okay?” he asks quickly bending down to help you pick your stuff up when he looks over to notice some blood dripping down your nose. jongho feels even worse as he immediately tries to help you even quicker. “oh god, your nose is bleeding! again, i’m so sorry!”
“i-it’s okay! i wasn’t paying any attention. i should be the one apologizing,” you say as you take a tissue out and attempt to stop your nose bleed.
“i can’t believe i gave my favorite producer a nose bleed,” jongho mumbles as you can’t help but laugh at how cute he is acting. the pout on his face doing wonders to make him fit into the role of the maknae, that you are well aware that he doesn’t always fit into.
“i’m your favorite producer?” you ask, eyes shining and jongho realizes that you heard him.
“y-yes, i love a lot of your songs even your solo stuff. your first album has always been a personal favorite of mine,” he says as he helps you stand, your bag now in his hands as he gently opens the door for you.
“well i’m a fan of your voice,” you say as you take your bag from him, “and i can’t wait to work with you jongho,” you say before walking into the studio and leaving jongho by himself in the hallway.

SEONGHWA ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
― doctor dad
• usually his office is flooded with lovely little patients
• so he tries to pick out a less hectic day from his schedule to bring his kid with him to work
• this is because he wants to be able to look after his child well
• and at the same time get them to play and interact with his cute patients
• his kid did say "i want daddy to help me make new fwends"
• "my baby's wish, is my command" he replies
• it wasn't obvious that he was excited to bring his kid to see him work. really, no.
• it wasn't evident even when they came to the clinic with matching lab coats and stethoscopes hanging from their necks.
• his' was the real deal ofc while his child had a cute blue one with stitch on it. (if he spent a lot of money just for that, no one had to know)
• most nurses that passed by them cooed because his child looked exactly like his mini me
• seonghwa smiles so bright, heart swelling, and he holds his kid's hand even tighter, eventually swaying it until they arrive at his office
• before he gets ready for his shift, he makes sure to introduce every single thing inside the room (everything within his child's reach was kid-friendly anyway so he didn't have to worry much)
• "baby look, do you know what these are?"
• "tweddy!" his child would cutely reply, pointing at the yellow teddy bear in his dad's hands
• seonghwa would play with his kid for a while
• they made the stuffed toys their patients, he was the nurse, and his child was the doctor
• "this is a stethoscope" "stescowp!" "that's right, very good!"
• "you put this on your patient's chest, so you can hear their heartbeat." "artbeat?" his child would look up at him, confused
• seonghwa would pinch their cheeks first, unable to resist their cuteness
• then he'll begin explaining, "heartbeat is the sound your heart makes. it goes lub-dub, lub-dub"
• he matches it with comical expressions and wide gestures that it makes his kid laugh
• why are they so adorable? he'd think
• and then it'll be time for him to face his patients
• he leaves his kid at the corner to play with the toys they brought, saying he'll be back
• "promise me you'll behave? no crying?"
• "pwomise, no cwying, daddy" his kid will reply and they'll do a pinky promise
• seonghwa prepares his cute stickers and candies at the side for his patients while he waits
• he only had to do consultations and check-ups for today, he made sure of that
• in between breaks, he plays again with his kid
• and when they got slightly bored playing doctor with the stuffed toys, seonghwa will call on his nurse friend who wasn't on call
• and then he'd go back to his desk, continue charting, while his kid goes to the clinic's cafeteria for snack break
• it was seonghwa's last patient when things started to get a little rocky
• his last patient was a three year old girl who's having a check up for the first time
• she was scared and seonghwa didn't know what to do
• none of his stickers, candy, and coaxing were working successfully and that was a first time for him
• but then his kid stood up from the puzzle mat where they were playing with their toys
• his child picks up the yellow teddy bear that seonghwa gave them earlier
• they'd waddle towards the little girl
• and if it weren't for the current situation, seonghwa would've giggled because his child is adorable
• surprisingly, his kid was able to ease the girl and stop her from crying
• they would talk to the little girl while they both hold the teddy bear's hands
• seonghwa would smile and then he'll immediately check on the girl's heartbeat with his stethoscope while she's still distracted
• distracted by his child's ramblings
• it was such an adorable scene
• when it was time to go home, seonghwa gets startled when his child suddenly runs to his desk
• he watches them as they go over his sticker packs (his child was actually drawn to them since they arrived in his office)
• a particular yellow heart and a blue 'good job' sticker got his kid's attention and then they're running back to seonghwa
• the kid tugs at seonghwa's slacks, asking him to sit and seonghwa ends up crouching in front of his child
• "this one's for daddy" his kid puts the yellow heart on his dad's coat,
• and then comes the good job sticker, "because daddy helped me make a new fwend. i love daddy's job" his child would say
• "can you get me a sticker too?" "yes!"
• his kid will bring back a "great patient!" sticker without even knowing it's meaning
• he picked it because it had stitch's face on it, and stitch was their favorite cartoon character
• seonghwa would chuckle and then place the sticker on his child's coat as well
• "this one is for you because you've been so well behaved today." he'd smile and then ruffle the child's hair
• and then they'd walk out of the clinic, hands swaying, with some occasional happy jumps from his kid
• a few stops were made as well because his child would show off his cute stitch sticker to every person that they would pass by, may it be a patient or a nurse
YUNHO ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
― actor dad
• the idea actually blossomed after the night he and his child played a game of charades
• at one point, yunho began acting out spongebob
• his child was having fun watching him and his comedic antics that they eventually blurt out
• "i wanna see daddy acting!"
• luckily, yunho's current movie project was a family-oriented one and the director was a friend of his
• as soon as they arrive at the filming site, his child marvels at everything they see
• "daddy, everything's soo big!"
• yunho would chuckle
• at some point, his child gets too excited while yunho's talking to his co-actor
• he was so engrossed in their conversation that he almost forgot he had a child with him (how-)
• it's safe to say that he nearly lost his kid
• but he didn't
• so, all's well
• when yunho's time came for him to shine in front of the camera, his kid got to watch, front row. which was on the director's lap
• yunho knows and is a daily witness to how energetic and playful his child could get so he's actually surprised that his child was just calmly sitting there on someone they just met while seemingly being in awe by every expression yunho makes and every word he says
• in fact, his child has been behaving so well that the director let them speak through the megaphone to yell the word, "cut!"
• but ofc it came out cute and tiny and adowable~
• yunho's kid got every person on the set laughing
• later that day, a coffee truck that was sponsored by one of the casts in the movie came on the site
• the child was playing with yunho's manager and saw it
• "is that food?" the child points at the truck that had people approaching it
• yunho's manager would ask them if they want something to eat or drink but instead, the child says
• "can i get food for daddy?" they ask this with their head slightly tilted to the side
• they both ended up getting food and drinks and yunho's child does the honor of giving the sealed coffee cup to their daddy who was still filming
• as soon as yunho finishes, they carefully walk towards him
• "coffee delivery for daddy!" they'd say cutely, prompting yunho to chuckle
• then they'd share a pastry or two while yunho goes over his next lines
• when yunho gets back in front of the camera, his child would watch him intently
• their small mouth following their daddy's dialogue
• and when yunho finishes all his parts and is done for the day, he'll sit beside his kid, both of them following and mouthing every word the current actor says on screen
• soon after, both of them eventually got bored and yunho's manager finds them getting all playful with the poor confused boy manning the coffee truck
• either bombarding him with questions about coffee or
• ordering a drink after another in a split second
• the manager ended up scolding them both
• but yunho and his child just laughs it off
• before things were wrapped up in the set, yunho planned to take a picture of himself so he could post it on his sns for the fans
• problem was, his child was starting to get all cranky and wouldn't want to leave his side
• so he asked for two pairs of sunglasses from his manager who also asked and got it from yunho's stylist
• when yunho gave the smaller sunglass to his child and said that they would take pictures like james bond, it brings a smile to the child's face
• "one, two, three!" yunho's manager would say while the both of them pose side by side, doing the infamous james bond pose
SAN ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
― florist dad
• they haven't even left the house yet but san is already cooing and taking pictures of his kid due to their adorable ootd
• he's too attached to his child that even if the child wants to be put down, he still carries them on the way to his newly opened flower shop
• his child loves him as much as he does, so they end up not fighting their dad's urge to carry them every single time
• they both sings songs while san walks, on the way there
• they do so even while san is opening up the shop and the kid sits on a stool, twirling around to see the different flowers around them
• until they eventually got dizzy and san had to attend to them for a second
• when san is finished organizing every nook and cranny of his beloved shop, he grabs two aprons from the stock room
• he puts the apron on but doesn't tie it yet, then he walks to his overly curious child, smiling
• he makes them lower their head and puts the cute little apron on them, trying his best to make a pretty ribbon while humming
• "can you tie my apron for me, angel?" he'd say after
• when the child nods their head, he doesn't waste any second and instantly turns
• while his child is tying his apron for him, he's smiling, dimples full on display while he clutches his chest, heart soaring
• san just adores his kid so much, okay?
• everything his child does make his heart do somersaults
• since it's still a newly opened shop, after san flips the closed sign into open, it was still quiet and empty
• and what does san do to fill the silence? he makes silly dance moves while he hums which makes his kid laugh heartily
• later on he starts actually singing, making up a song with flower names in the lyrics
• they do that for a moment until it started to get quite tiresome
• so he picks up his child and transfers the stool in front of the register, closer to him when he actually starts to attend to customers later
• san teaches his kid about each button and what they're for but the candy jar filled with flower shaped candies at the corner of the counter was what grabbed the child's attention more
• and yes, san put it there because of his own kid, and not because he has a sweet tooth. nope.
• when a customer does arrive and asks for assistance, san leaves his kid with the jar telling them not to finish it all up in one sitting
• "...or you'll have a sugar rush. are we clear, angel?" the kid nods at him. "very good. daddy will be back"
• he smiles at them and gives them a small pat on top of their cute little head
• soon after, san's got customer after another
• one particular elder lady was holding him up quite longer than the previous ones
• and san didn't really mind at all since he loves helping and being of service to others
• he didn't mind explaining each type of flower, their meaning, and what occasions they're great for, to the lady
• but from his peripheral vision, he could see that his angel was already pouting from their seat by the counter
• candy jar, untouched
• he knows, san knows, that his baby is already bored out of their minds
• most probably in need of something else to stimulate them and keep their cute lil head occupied
• the lady certainly notices the hesitation dancing in san's irises, even his fidgety hands
• "is that your child over there, young man?" she asks
• san rubs his nape, awkwardly, and says yes
• "they look like they're bored to the core" she points out
• "a-ah yes, i thought the colorful candies would keep them entertained for a bit"
• "clearly not" the lady scoffs, catching san off guard
• he wasn't sure what to make out of the lady's statement until...
• "why not bring them over here? let them explain whichever flower to me and maybe i'll be able to finally make up my mind" she says
• hearing that, san does everything to not squeal a yes in front of her and embarrass himself
• "i'll be right back" he says in a hurry, hurrying to save his child from the arms of boredom
• "well, hi there, little one. you're awfully adorable aren't you?"
• the child was a bit shy at first, but when san tells them it's okay, they start going out of their shell
• fondness danced in san's eyes as he watched his child cutely explain everything to the elder lady
• the elder lady who actually seemed to have an affinity for kids
• and then, san notices
• he only notices that his child has also gotten his long time habit of pouting while talking
• all his life, he's been called cute, adorable, and other compliments there are that matches his nickname, 'sannie'
• but now, he doesn't think there will be anyone else who'll ever compare to the cuteness of his precious angel.

buy me coffee ?
From the moment Yechan was able to walk, both you and Jongho know that you got a particularly hyper baby in your hands.
No matter how much you and Jongho whine and panic over Yechan running away at any chance he got, the both of you are actually very glad your son is a happy baby. Sure, the motto in your house has changed to "oh god, where's Yechan?" and you both had to come up with strategies frequently in case Yechan found a way to break free once again, but you just love him so much to actually complain or hate his little quirk. This was why you came up with a weekly trip to the park so that you can bargain with the little bugger to calm down the rest of the week and let loose on that one day in the park. Well, you voiced your concern to your husband's friends and Yeosang jokingly suggest letting the 'pup' have all the fun he wants in the great outdoors. Little did he know, you'd take the suggestion seriously. Of course, Jongho complained about how his hyung had just insinuated that his son needed to be taken for a walk like a dog, but even you can't deny the boy has some puppy qualities to him.
Unlike his 'cousins', the moment Yechan was strong enough to stand, he immediately tried to run off. This was expected as the baby had once crawled around the house so quickly like a crab running from predator. That day, you and Jongho spent the whole day losing, finding, and caging your son who seemed to be able to slip away no problem. Jongho even boasted that one day his son can be a pro athlete to which Mingi joked that it can also mean that Yechan can potentially be a successful thief. Everyone agreed to Jongho almost immediately, after Jongho pinched a large and very dark bruise to Mingi's back.
Yechan, being the smart kid that he is, was fully aware of the days he was going to be out at the park with his cousins based on how the previous night and morning went. Usually, he'd be tucked into his bed in the middle of his cartoon and in the morning, you'd make him pancakes and let him use as much syrup as he wants and his dad would always have to help him not drown the pancake in a lake of syrup (much to his disappointment). Then, after wiping his mouth clean, you'd carry him to his room and let him pick out what he wants to wear from the selection you've put out. After he was done putting his clothes on, his dad would bring him out and sat him down on the couch to watch his cartoon as you and Jongho got ready yourselves.
Usually, that was it. The moment you said 'let's go, boys', Yechan would get off the couch and have you or his dad put his sneakers on his feet. But today was different, he saw you wearing a dress which you usually won't wear especially when you all were going to the park. And Yechan couldn't help but panic when he saw you putting on high heels with him and his dad just standing there, watching.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Jongho asked, sighing as he helped you slip your feet in your shoes without crouching down by holding your hands. You nodded at him as you straighten up, "Yes, and because it's a gift, we are going to try it, okay? See if Yechannie likes it," you turned to look at Yechan who was looking at you with much confusion. "Mommy, let's go?" he asked, tilting his head and raising his arms as if he was asking you to carry him. You cooed and opened your arms to which he immediately ran and hug your legs. Gently, you pat Yechan on his head as you explained the situation, "Mommy needs to go meet some of mommy's friends so you go meet your hyungs with daddy, okay?"
The pout on the baby's face almost foiled your plans of not joining them at the park. But thankfully, Jongho stepped in by grabbing the baby up into his strong arm and pulling you into a quick kiss, "Okay, I see where this is going and you are meeting up with your friends, you're not cancelling," he then gently pushed you to the front door and even opened it to let you out, "Yechan and I will be fine so you just have fun, okay?" This time, it was your turn to pout at your husband. "Fine, but please let me know if anything happens, okay? Especially if any one of them makes fun of Yechan," you huffed. Jongho raised an eyebrow confusedly, "Baby, I don't think Yechan's cousins are going to make fun of him, they're great kids," he defended. You rolled your eyes and sighed at your husband's blatant confusion, "I'm talking about your friends, honey. Particularly the one that sounds like a tea kettle," to which Jongho nodded in understanding. "Don't worry, I can handle him just fine, now you go before you're late." Before you could turn to walk away, Yechan squealed and almost threw himself out of his dad's arms. "Mommy, kiss!" he pouted, arms spread widely and eyebrows furrowed in utter displeasure. You couldn't help but giggle at your baby's adorable clinginess that he definitely got from his dad (much to his denial) and took a step back to properly blow a raspberry to your son's cheeks which made him giggle in delight before leaving.
Soon after you left, Yechan was put back on the couch as Jongho cleaned up some things before going into Yechan's room to retrieve something. When Jongho came back in front of Yechan, he looked back and forth between the item in his hands and his son a couple of times, clearly hesitating to do something. Yechan could only stare up at his dad in confusion, not understanding why his dad seemed so concerned. "Daddy?" Jongho snapped out of his trance at the sound of his baby calling for him, "Let's go?" he grinned widely, excitedly awaiting their departure to the park. Jongho smiled at the innocent boy and nodded, signalling that he could get off the couch and that they both were going out.
Just as Yechan was about to walk to the shoe rack, Jongho stopped him and crouched in front of him. "Buddy, you need to wear this before we go," Jongho said as he began attaching the item in his hand to Yechan's body. Yechan looked down, unsure of what the thing is but didn't feel disturbed. Out of curiosity, Yechan tugged on the straps and felt around to feel where the contraption was but before he could even understand what it is, Jongho had scooped him up and placed him on the porch to put both his and Yechan's shoes on. Once Jongho deemed that everyone was ready, he took Yechan in his arms and locked the door before walking off to the elevator to the car, ready for a day of having fun with his son and his friends along with their kids.
The ride to the park wasn't long, they all had managed to find the perfect park not too far from where they were all living separately and the kids love the place to bits.
As per usual, Jongho got off the car first before he rounded the car to his son's side to get him out of his seat. With the clasps of the seat off, Yechan was just about ready to jump off and run to find his friends when Jongho pulled him so that his head was leaning onto his dad's strong shoulder, exposing his back. "Okay buddy, I only need to attach this to you and then we're good to go," Jongho said. Yechan heard something clicked but he didn't know what it was because he couldn't see what was going on. Nevertheless, the thought was wiped away when Jongho carried him in one arm as the other arm carry his diaper bag before closing the car door and locking the car.
Even from simply looking at the leaves Yechan was already excited. The thought of playing tag with his cousin Hunter and Sumin ran through his head, he also wanted to know what toy his cousin Junmin brought that day or what clashing colours is his cousin Minjae wearing. The closer they got to the rendezvous point, the jumpier Yechan got. This is what you would call the equivalent of a race car warming up before taking off and whenever Yechan does it, it never failed to make Jongho chuckle because it was just too precious.
"Yechan!" Yujun screamed when he finally saw his cousin Yechan in Jongho's arms approaching them. Hearing Yujun call Yechan out, the rest of the boys ran away from their parents and out of their games to greet Yechan even though he was still quite further away from the rest of them. Yechan was more than happy to be welcomed though, he started wiggling around, trying to get out of his dad's grasp to run off and meet his cousins halfway. Any one of Jongho's friends would say that it's hard to get out of his grasp but as Yechan is his little baby, Jongho tends to be more gentle and less restrictive on him which was why Yechan was able to jump off and run free towards the nearest boy, Seeun.
One thing Yechan didn't account for was the contraption Jongho put on him not too long ago.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?" Wooyoung's boisterous voice rang as he fell into Yeosang who was trying to figure out what it was they were seeing. Seonghwa smacked Wooyoung on the backside of his head with his eyes widened in shock, "Can you not say the f word in front of my kid?" he scolded. Wooyoung could only kept laughing though, pointing at Jongho and Yechan, "How can I when the fuck i meant is Jongho with his kid on a leash!"
With that, the rest of the adults on the table; Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, and San snapped their heads to gawk at Yechan who was being pulled to the playground by his cousins as Jongho tailed behind with something in his hand that was attached to Yechan's body.
The closer Jongho got to his friends, the hotter his face felt. It was a huge relief that Yechan didn't seem to understand why his uncles found it so funny that he was tethered to his dad like so. Because Jongho was damn embarrassed for the both of them.
"Don't say anything," Jongho grumbled as he placed Yechan's diaper bag on the picnic table. Wooyoung was trying so hard to hold his laughter in, to the point that he looked like he was trying so hard to not shit his pants. Yunho and Yeosang were in a similar situation but not as severe, both of them sporting dumb grins on their faces as they watched the youngest dad trying his hard to not scream out of embarrassment. San on the other hand was still trying to figure out what it was he was seeing. "Is Yechan on time out or something? Is he being punished?" he asked, looking up at Jongho, not quite sure what he was actually seeing. Maybe Jongho forgot to unlatch the straps of Yechan's car seat and he's just THAT strong that he managed to rip the straps off?
With a groan, Jongho braced himself with the fakest smile he could muster. "No, it's called a safety child tether, it's supposed to-" Wooyoung cut him off before he could say what it's supposed to do, "It's a damn leash, Jongho, I bought Hunter's puppy's the same model but in a different colour," he laughed. At Wooyoung's words, Yunho burst out laughing while Yeosang turned to Yujun as a way to hold his tongue for the sake of the toddler. Thankfully, before Jongho could send Hunter home to his mom with a message that his dad is now floating in the next galaxy, San shoved a sandwich into Wooyoung's mouth to successfully shut him up. "Dude, Yechan's not a dog," he scolded his friend, receiving nothing but a scoff from him but thankfully no backtalk. Just as Jongho felt glad that at least one of his friends is defending him, San turned to look at him and stated with a deadpan look, "But yeah man, that's a leash." "It's not!" Jongho cried, plopping himself on a vacant spot, simultaneously pulling Yechan off of Junghoon and closer to him, "It's a child safety tether and (y/n)'s friend bought it when she heard that we got a runner in the family." Out of curiosity, Seonghwa took a seat closest to Jongho after handing Junmin his juice box, "Wait, which friend?" he asked, to which Jongho simply answered, "The middle-aged lady with like 6 succulents on her desk and always wear that red coat." All of his friends almost simultaneously smacked their foreheads in disbelief and it took Yeosang saying something to make Jongho understand, "You mean the lady with 6 dogs and counting?" It was then that Jongho looked down on Yechan and remembered what you told him after you brought home the so-called present, something about your friend using the same thing on her misbehaving child. "But she does have kids!" Jongho tried to defend himself. "Those dogs are her kids, Jongho, we all saw her Instagram page!" Yunho said, shaking his head.
Defeated, Jongho could only stare at his son who was staring up at him innocently. He felt bad and almost like he was responsible for putting him in such a position. Almost.
"And look who we have here!" Jongho heard Mingi call out.
He turned slightly and saw Mingi and Hongjoong walking towards them whilst carrying a cooler together. Wanting to greet them, Yechan let out a squeal and was about to take off on his own but he ended up flopping onto his stomach with an 'oof' instead because the tether held him back.
Sumin squeaked and ran to Yechan's side, followed by Hyunwoo who left his sister Soohyun with Junghoon to check if the toddler was okay. Jongho was about to jump in and hold the boy in case he cried, but Yechan only looked up and grinned goofily at everyone around him. Even as Sumin and Hyunwoo help him up, Yechan only giggled until Mingi crouched down in front of him.
"Why hello there... Puppy?" He joked, almost making Wooyoung choke on his water. "Hyung..." Jongho warned but Mingi just waved him off, "Look at you all happy!" Mingi pointed out which made Yechan giggle louder and stomp on his feet side by side, "Your tail's a-wagging!" Mingi exclaimed, causing Wooyoung to burst into another fit of laughter, surprising Hunter who wanted to ask him for his water bottle. San and Yunho had to drag him away before he burst his stomach. "Hyung, I swear," Jongho warned, pouting at how his friend was making his son seem more like a puppy. "Oh, lighten up, Jongho," Hongjoong chuckled, "You know your son is a good boy. A very, very good boy and we just want to appreciate that," he smirked. Realizing that Hongjoong had jumped in, Jongho could only groan and bury his face in his palm. "I swear, you guys are KILLING me," he grumbled into his own hands. Yechan took notice of his dad's posture and pouted, momentarily leaving his uncle Mingi to tap on his thigh, "Daddy, okay?" worry was obvious in his voice, not liking that his dad seemed distraught. "Maybe your dad just needs a drink, Yechannie. Here, fetch!" Mingi reached into the cooler and was about to pass Yechan a bottle of cold water. Thankfully, Jongho heard the command first and his head shot up to glare at the two people before him, "No, don't! Yechan, stay!"
The adults froze when Jongho slipped a command at his own son. They all needed a moment to process what had just happened but once complete realization was made, not even Seonghwa could hold in his laughter, he had to turn his body so as to not laugh even more while Hongjoong doubled over, holding his stomach. Yeosang was clutching his chest as he continuously slap Jongho's shoulder in amusement, laughing at both Jongho's situation and the fact that Mingi was on all fours on the ground, heaving like a cat trying to pass a furball. On the other side, a little bit further away, Yunho was laughing at how San and Wooyoung were completely on the ground, clutching their foreheads in pain as they laughed. They had managed to bump their foreheads together clumsily but not even that could stop them from laughing their asses off.
"Guys, please, you're all ADULTS with CHILDREN!" Jongho scolded angrily but the shade of red on his face indicated that he was rather embarrassed.
Confused, Yechan tugged his dad's pants and tilted his head to the side, "Uncles okay?" behind him stood Sumin who could only stare at his dad on the ground with his eyebrows furrowed. Hyunwoo had run off when he heard his dad laughing whilst saying 'ow', concerned and curious. Of course, Jongho would be more than happy to explain to his child that his uncles are crazy or that they were possessed, but Yechan was just a child and it would be such a shame to waste a good excuse in this situation. With a sigh, Jongho smiled at the boy and pat his head before removing the tethe- fuck it, it's a fucking leash, he removed it from his son's body before sending him and Sumin off to play, a cover because he was about to kick some grown-up ass.
Safe to say, you came home later in the day with the child leash ripped apart and shoved into the trashcan followed by Jongho ranting about how the day went. Even you had to admit it was funny but with your husband's passion for his son's justice, you decided to keep quiet and tease both him and Yechan at another day. Most likely the very next.
