the simplest way to explain this is: jude is jades dad and joey is johns mom. so we have mom claire and dad harley along with john claire and jade harley.
ive done more Talking About with the harley side of things because i frankly have no idea how the claires lives would be. alot of this is copy pasted from discord
lets say during hiveswap jude is about 13 and joey is still 14. john and jade arrive in 1996, when jude is 21 and joey is 22. joey was born 1974 while jude was born 1975. hiveswap takes place 1989, and after the events of that jude and joey both lose it a little in different ways. joey takes it upon herself to learn more about their family and the whole end of the world thing after this, and moves to washington to be there when john arrives. jude learns about jade and takes after grandpa harley, searching pacific islands to find jade before his pa can. jude adopts jade and joey adopts john. in 2009 joey is 35, jude is 34. john and jade grow up VERY different
jude is SUCH a girl dad. he teaches jade science and physics and everything he can and he tells her everything he knows about aliens and the unknown. she grows up to be a conspiracy theorist like him, and she still has bec obviously. jude can never look at bec directly after looking at pictures of halley all the time when he was a kid. jade knows about trolls already and still has her prophetic dreams on prospit, and because of the paranoia and curiosity her father instilled in her she actively seeked out the people she saw in her dreams-- dave, rose, and john. she tried to warn them initally but soon realized she has to let fate run its course. which infuriated her!!!!!!!! she also actively seeked out all the trolls and was the first to contact all of them, just to confirm what her dad told her. aliens really are real!
i think the main reason jude would adopt jade is... jude definitely has some repressed animosity towards his dad and realizes it one day and just. breaks down. hes read all the skaianet files and archives he knows everything he knows about jade and john and those two other kids and the end of the world. he tries to tell joey and she wont listen. she NEVER listens and this time he wont stand for it!!! so he takes all the bare essentials and leaves to go search the pacific because he cant let what happened to him happen to jade too. he cant let her grow up the way he did.
jades house is also definitely different but similar. jude is NOT an architect but he tries his best to construct something where he can take care of his baby. and that is, of course, a treehouse. he finds the biggest tree he can and builds a treehouse for the two of them and jade just keeps getting bigger as she grows up so he has to keep expanding the treehouse and eventually its this amalgamation of squares of wood standing tall in the trees. it definitely has all the Fucked Up Tech but not ALL of it. its mostly things jude made on hs own using stolen skaianet documents or things he stole from the half harley manor.
moving onto the claires, the reaosn joey went out and looked for john is because jude gave her everything she needed to do it. exact dates exact coordinates and a promise that this is how it needs to be if hes going to raise jade she has to raise john. joey arriving in that stupid joke shop one day and wondering if this was another prank. the longest game jude could have played, hes probably giggling to himself wherever he is that he finally got to play the biggest prank of his life! and then she sees the flaming ball in the sky and is hit with the realization that. he was right. and shes going to have to raise this baby. and the world will end when he turns 13 no matter how badly she wants to protect him.
idk much about john claire yet but i know he definitely indulges in dance like his mom. mostly tap dancing he isnt into ballet at all. hes def a prankster like his uncle jude was as a kid. took inspo from the stories joey told him. this annexes his harlequin thing, aka drawing them all over the walls in his sleep. also joey isnt the type of mom to just assume her sons interests like dad egbert did. hes absolutely still getting an INORDINATE amount of cakes for his birthday though

jude english's circumstances are pretty similar to jake's? like he also lives in a jungle with frightening fauna but instead of being kind of a pussy he goes out and attacks them. 16 year old boy taking down an entire lusus cause he wanted to study its insides also he was huncry. his early life is p much the same as jakes but when his grandma dies he flees to his treehouse and that becomes his new home. hes no architect but he tries his best to expand it as much as he can. its held together with random tree branches and tape. his chumhandle would beeeeeeeeee. galacticGladiator? galacticGunslinger?
joey egbert is pretty much just john egbert???? she lives a relatively peaceful life in the suburbs with her dad. shes more of a prankster because of her dad, and enjoys pranking her good friend GG through the internet. shes still super into animals and loves them sooooo much. especially her pet cat gcat! shes also obviously still into puzzles and puzzle-solving, and likes to think of herself as a detective. her chumhandle is gracefulTactician.
i have no design for joey but i have my adult jude design that ill probably tweak a bit for this au.
