I love the take that Knuckles and Amy have a sibling-like relationship. They'd totally be the ones getting their kids on playdates.

My take on an older Knuckles. He starts rebuilding Angel Island be allowing more people to be there, helping him with his guardian duties, and before he knows it, there arises a small new community, of which he is the leader. They have regular exchange with other towns around, but it’s important to Knuckles to preserve the old culture of his people, especially for his kids.
