Part 2: BUSINESS PARTNERS IN CRIME
somethin cozy

Wow this is like a little too angsty even for me but I think I’m gonna make it even worse
Tenna art dropppp
also that old art I finished AWHILE ago actually
I recently just played Deltarune chapter 3 and got the cutscenes of Tenna and the pipis and it got me thinking about Tenna as a parent, and it doesn't look good.
Don't get me wrong, Tenna would have his moments. He would care a lot about his kid BUT I do feel like they fit the idea of "Child-like parent" and "Parent-like child".
They want to be seen as the perfect parent to the public and acts more like a friend then a parent to their kid. Tenna is forever trying to relive his golden era, he forgets he's a lot older than he acts which makes it hard to create boundaries with his child. An example of this could be Tenna dropping all of his insecurities and troubles onto their child, making them feel like the need to be the one to fix them.
I can also see, when his kid reaches the legal age to work, practically forcing them into working for him. Most likely an unpaid intern.
But, Tenna also has no real reason to change his habits, even when his child brings them up, "Well, this magazine says I'm a great parent so you must be overdramatic" type of attitude. He cares more about how his fans see him compared to his own child but it's practically impossible for them to go no contact with him, unfortunately
Oh I leaped for joy at seeing this.
First things first, Tenna loves his kid. No question! But he’s weird and toxic at showing it. It’s not out of malice or anything but Tenna is deeply blinded by nostalgia and will do anything to relive his glory days even if it means harming people. At first Tenna had his kid doing stuff like pageantry, guest starring on his game shows and other things.
While it came from a desire to have his kid be apart of something that Tenna loves, the main motivation was attention. Everyone loves an adorable, perky kid! And they loved them! Everyone couldn’t get enough of Tenna and his lil costar! But things fade, kids get older. Wasn’t before long till your spotlight grew dim and Tenna was itching to take that lightbulb out and replace it with something bigger and better.
He obviously didn’t mean that his kid wasn’t good or anything but kids take things literally. Tenna treats them like a friend or an intern if anything, only using parental authority to shut down something he doesn’t approve of or like. He laughs with them, lets them in on things that kids have no business being around. (I.E showbiz) and vents. He talks about his glory days, his relationship with Spamton (oh god help them if they’re a child of Spamtenna)
As someone who witnessed their parents cry and vent about things I shouldn’t have been hearing at as a child, it’s very uncomfortable. It’s even worse when Tenna says things like how he hopes his kid doesn’t leave him, that they’re all he basically has, etc. Yet all of a sudden Tenna is too busy or dumbs down your issues to “oh aren’t you kids silly” to listen to you.
Tenna tries to make up for his lack of presence and neglect through gifts, special perks, etc. He knows deep down that he’s doing something wrong. But it’ll all be worth it in the end! Just sit tight kiddo and let dad work! But I don’t think scented gloop is able to give his kid a hug or a signed autograph is gonna peck them on the cheek before bed.
Tenna definitely pulls the “you’re just being overdramatic”, “I guess I’m the worst dad ever” and “I’m trying my hardest why can’t you” cards on his kid like they’re playing uno. He gestures at magazines, tabloids and old video footage. See? He’s such a swell dad! Why are you so ungrateful?
Oh the heartbreaking thought of Tenna’s kid watching from the wings as Tenna remembers a lot more fond memories of Kris than he does of them. Poor kid sitting alone in the green room while listening to Tenna happily chat with interviewers or guest stars.
I imagine that the staff probably takes care of them and tries to ease the blow of Tenna’s neglect. Mostly by guiding their attention to something else or asking them if they wanna go do something while Tenna is busy. They probably had to drag them away from Tenna’s office bc they would sit and wait.
They probably fought hard against being given away and wanting to stay in Castle Town. Tenna would try to coax before eventually scolding them for their selfishness and asking if they don’t wanna see him happy. It hits him hard when they say what about them? Tenna tries to push back against them by saying they’ll have their own little segment or something! He almost perma shuts off when his kid springs on with “Am I just a segment to you?”
I wanted to share the little daughter I made for tenna! She's Annie! Her older brother Thomas it's there in the couch with her (in process the sheet of her brother)
I wanted to make a little interaction thing we're Annie and her brother dress with outfits inspired in different tennas of the AUS! So you can decide what tenna goes first! Also comes with a fanart of this tenna along with the kiddos
what tenna outfit inspiration?
