Yeah uh... I'll come out and say it. In light of recent news.... What I've been cooking up for the passed 8 months in regards to the future of the comic just got very, VERY exciting. I was shy about my ideas before, but it's full steam ahead from here. I look forward to sharing those ideas now. I won't be shifting ANYTHING like I feared I might need to.
Guys I'm so so sorry, something big came up and I need to postpone my original outlook on posting for longer than I expected. Not too long though. I'm gonna preface here and say I theorize a lot but i usually express those ideas through art better than text, but I have no time to try and draw this idea. So here we go:
I was replaying chapter five and made sure to do EVERYTHING before leaving Castletown and I was actually quite stunned by three things plus one bonus that all came together in my head as I was doing so.
1. The darkner in the church can cure poison. My S. Poison I bought from Spamton like a maniac was turned into S.Potion and it heals 200HP and it says it's an energy drink with a car brand...
2. The True Tie. Combining the Tenna Tie and the frayed bow tie I also bought a crap tone of and kept one from Spamton combine into Spamton's actual original tie...?
3. "ALL YOUR FRIENDS, [[Abandoned you for the slime]] YOU ARE?" - Spamton
"I can never... forget the slime" -Tenna
... Tenna says he could never forget the slime... He could never forget Spamton. And he says it like he's mourning.
Bonus: (this will be relevant in a moment) The Addisons can't stop thinking about him. They copy him, yes, but he's on their mind, and they felt guilty in the trash zone. Business is business. Its all about bigger bigger better... And they keep coming back to him. They can't forget him either.
The only item left FROM him that hasn't been healed in some way is the broken sword (which I'm also hoarding)...
Can his friends restore him too...?
They haven't forgotten. They won't. They've TRIED and yet here his items are being turned not just into useful items, but HIS items. Restored.
His parallels to Kris, and Kris getting worse and worse with us puppeting them even in the pacifist run, I think friends will matter a lot to bring Kris from the brink.
I normally would think Spamton being restored would be poor story telling. Him not being accepted as he is in his hroken state and all... But in THIS story, with the connections between him and Kris... I think it would work. I really think it could work. (and I'd probably cry like a baby too, but that's besides the point)
Everytime I've second guessed this hunch because it seems too happy-fun-times, I keep being reminded his items are being restored by other darkners. Restored to HIS brand, HIS clothes... Why can't they work together to restore him too...? All his friends care. They all remember him.
He thought he was alone, abandoned and forgotten.
He promised in the pacifist fight that he'd live for himself and his friends. I think that scope will grow. I don't know when or how, but those items... Those bits of dialog...
The lost being found, the isolated reintegrated, and memories being a source of healing, and after the encounters with the flowers, maybe even dreams....
I think there's foreshadowing being laid down here that the two Darkners that we found and who gave themselves up for us can be reunited with the darkners that miss them and whom they themselves miss.
and what that might mean for Dess?...
And don't get me started with the dearly beloved Dr WD with this concept (and forgotten man)
I'll leave it there. Have fun with this idea, because I can't shake the feeling restoration will be a big deal in the future one way or another.
(okay I was about to post this when I remembered ONE OTHER KINDA BIG THING. Love. Can't even say the word. His view of it is so twisted after his experience with being cut off so severely the man can't even say it, Level Of ViolencE OR love. But the flowers talk about it constantly. CONSTANTLY. They work together the entire time. They rely on it. Is that all just for the Susie Noelle stuff, or does it apply more broadly? Love isn't exclusive to romance. Care isn't just about people smoochin'. The flowers express the romantic, the friendly and the familial loves. Love can be healing, and Spamton wants [Hyperlink blocked] so he can be a big shot. Maybe that's exactly what he needs to get that, and the players fawning over him in the real world won't fix what's wrong. He may have given up on the other darkners, but they haven't given up on him in their hearts and minds. Clearly.
Guys... He's on my face. Come get yer boy.... And then give him back when you're done. His stats are amazing, I swear he can come home after our adventures. He has a 9 to 5 as my sick shades. I want him to have "aided in the world being saved" on his resume. Then he can retire to his preferred 9 to 5)
OKAY I 100% PACIFIST CHAPTER FIVE AND HAVE MORE TO SAY ABOUT THIS NOW HOLY CRAP

So after buying three flower armors/weapons, Flowery will sell you the FloweryScarf for Ralsei. Ralsei refuses to wear it.
BUT
After Flowery is cut down in battle with the Knight, it says "Broken Scarf" and that its been torn to pieces. The state of it was attached to Flowery. When he was torn so was the scarf.
What else do we have that's broken...

The darkner attached to it is also broken.
The guy who sold us a weapon of incredible stats is broken, and so is the sword itself.
