Hehshdjdbdjdbsbs I’m glad you like my Tangled au rambles (but if I ever get annoying, tell me and I’ll stop).

The most recent development to this cursed thing was making it not just Skephalo, but incorporating Dadboyhalo and Sonnap into this narrative.

The fairytale opening is Bad in the Nether, who has always been alone all his many years of life because of fear of his demonic power, no one ever seeing past the surface to the gentle soul who wanted some belonging yet was always denied. And one day finding this poor abandoned child all alone next to the lava, but not too far from a portal to the Overworld. Bad knows that those who venture here from the Overworld is not kind to the Netherborn, but this was just especially cruel. Baby!Sapnap immediately stops crying when Bad holds him, unafraid of him unlike everyone else. Bad becomes a dad that day.

Fast forward several years, these two are a happy family of two. Bad learns Sapnap is a blaze hybrid and has really strong fire powers, so everyday is an adventure in helping him control it. Being naturally fireproof also helps a great deal. But he’s not gonna let Sapnap be forced to figure it out blindly on his own the way Bad was forced to with his own powers. Sapnap likes to explore too and tends to get into trouble, but his dad is always there to protect him. However, as Sapnap hits preteens, so comes the rebellious phase.

Sapnap over the years developed a curiosity for the Overworld from the various items left behind by people who lost them (in attacks or otherwise) or died, but was obviously never allowed to venture there by dad wanting to keep him safe. The Nether isn’t without its dangers, but they’re familiar dangers. But once Sapnap gets to that certain age, those reasons aren’t enough anymore. And his resulting attempt to prove himself and striking out on his own is what leads to him slighting the Crimson/Egg. Thinking something to the effect of a similar magic flower/other macguffin the Crimson had been feeding off of as a power source like how the Sun Flower was taken by the guards away from Gothel. Which ends up having its power transferred into Bad.

The Crimson of course retaliates, but Dadboyhalo will always protect his son. He makes a deal with the Crimson: take him instead, enact whatever revenge it wishes onto him, in exchange for sparing Sapnap. The Crimson agrees to this, seeing as it not only gets its og power source back to feed on, but an upgrade in getting full-blooded demonic power to feed on as well.

However, Bad knows his son, that he will fight tooth and nail against this, and he also trusts his gut to believe in what he’s picking up on off the Crimson’s energy. This thing is dangerous and not to be trusted, and Sapnap is absolutely not safe near it. So in a hard, desperate move, Bad sends Sapnap away through a portal to the Overworld. Through one he believes to be the safest bet of the bunch he knows, and then destroys it so Sapnap can’t get back.

“I’m sorry, Sappy. I’m sorry I can’t be there with you, but at least you’re getting your wish at long last. Pet a real panda for me, grow your fire, and never lose your love for adventures. You are strong, stronger than you know. But stay safe. Only reveal all sides of yourself to those you’re certain you can trust with your life. Remember to your head… and that I’ll always love you.”

And that’s the last Sapnap sees of his dad for years.

He does grow up, makes a name for himself in the Overworld and grows his power in addition to finding more found family, but never gives up on his biggest goal: finding his dad again and getting him away from the monstrosity that forced them apart. Even as it seems more and more hopeless each passing year without success.

The Crimson was very upset by what Bad did and retaliated by making Bad forget his past life and Sapnap completely when it forces its control over him. Making it so Bad only knows the Crimson and trusts the Crimson. It also pulls out every stop to keep anyone else from finding its power source. It can’t let Bad remember, or it loses its control over him.

Skeppy’s not only saving Bad from this evil fucker from being forced into being nothing a puppet for its desires for world domination, but reuniting a family. A family that Bad and Sapnap nearly lost forever.

A family that then adds Skeppy to their numbers because stepdad!Skeppy ftw!

Okay but like that father-son reunion tho is gonna be the softest shit ever. Bad is in awe at how big Sapnap is now, how much he’s grown. He’s taller, older, more worldly, and it hurts knowing how much he’s missed. Would Sapnap even forgive him for that? Meanwhile Sapnap sees dad for the first time in forever, looking just as he remembered him from back then though a bit more tired and with some new scars. Dad had promised he’d always find his way back to him, but is that still true?

“Dad?”

“Sappy?”

“I-Is it really you? This isn’t a trick?”

“No, Sapnap. It’s not. I’m really here, and I’m so sorry it took me so long to come back to you. Please forgive me. Look at you, you’re so big now. All grown up…”

“But that thing that took you–?”

“Gone now. It can’t hurt you, or me, or anyone else again. I’m never leaving again. I promised you I wouldn’t and I’d always find my way back if we ever got separated. I’m sorry I made you wait.”

“Tell me something only my dad would know. So I know it’s really you.”

“You’re using your head more. I’m so proud of you. Do you still remember our song? Sing it with me. Sap a Nap. Sappy Nappy. Sappa Nappy, Nappy Nappa Nap–”

And it’s only when Bad sings his little diddy he made for Sapnap when he was little (this: https://youtube.com/shorts/KHDCpL7DACg?si=GaVc3AQCbH1QwvL-), which Sapnap joins in on, does Sapnap finally cave and crush Dadboyhalo in the biggest hug ever. One Bad wholly returns. Lots of tears. Skeppy feeling awkward for intruding before being yanked into the hug too.

This idea is ruining me.

Anon I love you and your au so much, you should seriously write a fic. AND IM OBSESSED WITH THE SAPNAP DITTY BECOMING PART OF THE LORE!!! I love that video so much, their bond is so special to me ;__;

Okay imagine the boat scene from Tangled for this au. Much of my inspiration born from clips of Skeppy’s reaction vid to the official music video for Bad’s Muffin song and uh, the song itself.

Skeppy’s got this whole surprise set up for Bad. He’s been secretly getting everything in place while having his day on the town with Bad, wants everything to be perfect but he’s nervous as shit. He’s trying to have bad get on the boat first all gentlemanly but it’s already backfiring on him.

“Bad, will you just get on the boat?”

“Is this a prank? Or another troll?”

“No! Why do you think everything’s a troll now?”

Bad raises an eyebrow at him.

“Okay, fair, but I promise this isn’t a troll.”

“That’s what you usually say to me when you’re trolling me.”

“…Again, fair. But really though. I’m serious. It’s not a troll. Not a prank. It’s a good surprise, but you need to get on the boat for me to show it to you.”

“Did you–?”

“No, I didn’t steal it! I paid and rented it! Now get on, or you won’t get to see!”

Bad reluctantly gets on the boat and Skeppy joins and starts rowing to the spot. He’s unusually quiet and focused and Bad notices.

“Geppy, are you okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I’m good.”

“Are you sure? You look a little…?”

“Uh, I, uh, well…”

“*gasp* Are you afraid of boats? You didn’t have to do this if it makes you uncomfortable!”

It’s so absurdly, ridiculously wrong, Skeppy gapes in offense.

“I’M NOT AFRAID OF BOATS! I LOVE BOATS! Look at me! I love it here! On a boat! Lo-Look, just be quiet and wait, Badboy. You’ll see.”

We have the beautiful moment on the water, of the two enjoying the festival together. A fulfilled dream after reassurances that it will be worth it and as good as Bad hoped. Then Skeppy notices Bad absently humming something to himself.

“What’s that song?”

“Just a little silly something I thought up. It’s not finished yet, though. Only got a melody and a few lyrics to it right now.”

“What do you have so far?”

“No, no, it’s dumb.”

“Nononononononono! Tell me. Tell meeeeeeeee.”

“No.”

“Tell meeeeeeeeeeeee.”

“Skeppy!”

“TELL MEEEEEEEEEEE.”

“Okay, okay, FINE! You muffin head.”

Bad kinda trails off, embarrassed. Not helping that Skeppy’s now dead quiet again.

“Told you it was dumb.”

“It’s not! It’s just… who’s it about?”

Now it’s Bad’s turn to be the flustered and nervous wreck.

“Uh… Rat!”

(Rat has the Pascal role btw)

“RAT?! It’s about Rat?! How come Rat gets a song?”

“Because she’s a good girl! A good little muffin!”

“You wrote a love song for Rat?”

“It’s not just about Rat– wait, fudge! No!”

“Who else is it about? Tell meeeeeeee!”

“A muffin never tells!”

“Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!”

“Nooooooo!”

“Baaaaaaaaaaaaad! Tell meeeeeeeeee!”

“Ugh, you muffin head.”

Then I remember what’s supposed to come right after this scene and I make myself upset.

The “they just can’t get my nose right!” incorrect wanted poster gag from Tangled but it’s Skeppy’s box mask face getting drawn wrong.

(Skeppy on the run sees the latest atrocity where one eye is exaggeratedly bigger than the other and the tongue waaay too small) “What the– Oh, COME ON! It’s not that hard! It’s two eyes and a tongue! Why can’t they ever get it right?”

(finding another en route through the woods sometime after starting the journey with Bad; this one with a “>:O” face full of jagged teeth) “What… What is this? Are they just blind? How do you keep messing it up every time?”

(The “Is this you?” bit during the bar scene; the mask face is drawn crosseyed with buck teeth) “Okay, you guys are just actual assholes. What the fuck.”

Forgive me for the spam on this dumb au.

Thinking about Bad in the tower all alone and what his hobbies would be. Baking muffins obviously being a given, and the guy obviously has to be able to feed himself. The Crimson allows him to remember that much. But also what if he also got to keep other hobbies like his knife and tomahawk throwing, and sharpshooting? And the Crimson allowed that too? Like, it’s so so much riskier than the cooking, but hey, contingencies. Bad’s gotta defend himself when it’s away, and he’s gotta be able to protect/defend it “when the time comes”. And of course the beauty in it backfiring soooooooo badly on the Crimson later on when Bad’s finally able to stand against it. It played itself.

But also all the other hilarious shenanigans I can use it when it comes to Skeppy’s reactions to it.

So Skeppy’s tied up in Bad’s hair and taking the piss out of the whole situation and riling up Bad, completely undermining his attempts to “act tough”. Bad gets fed up that he walks away a distance, Skeppy’s still laughing at him, but then he sees Bad pick up some knives and whoa whoa whoa whoa WHOA what are you doing with those?! but Bad doesn’t bring them towards Skeppy. He throws them at the target he made on the wall.

Which is one thing on its own, but he’s also hitting the bullseye with every throw.

“WHAT?!”

“Be quiet. I’m not talking to you.”

“Excuse me, what the–”

“Language!”

“What is that!?”

“I’m not talking to you. I’m upset right now.”

“YOU THROW KNIVES WHEN YOU’RE UPSET!?”

“Axes and tomahawks too. Other times I use the crossbo– wait, no! Why am I telling you this?! Be quiet! Stop talking to me!”

Skeppy is actually a little more unnerved by this. Though it quickly also becomes annoyance when Bad “demonstrates” again to argue he’d be able to defend himself out in the world and brings up the fact he successfully got the drop on Skeppy when he broke into the tower when presenting his deal for Skeppy to be his escort to the lantern thing.

Skeppy then gets to witness Bad in action again when things go awry for the bar scene. Bad throws a knife or someone’s dagger at someone who’s threatening Skeppy and it pierces through their sleeve and it pins their hand against the wall. Bad then yelling at them to leave Skeppy alone.

Skeppy sees this and is both A) what the actual fuck how did you learn to do that cooped up in a tower for years who gave you those to practice with?! and B) oh fuck me that’s hot as hell

We stan BAMF powerful demon BBH. He’s wholesome, but can kick your ass. He’s just still remembering how to use the power he has to that more and more on the journey and being further away from the Crimson’s influence.

Bad getting all his hair done up and pretty once they arrive in the town/kingdom/destination what have you. Still deciding who’s gonna do it. Thinking Hannah so she can pretty him up with a bunch of flowers, maybe Minx too helps out. Need to do more research to figure out the rest of the cast as a whole tbh.

Bottom line is Skeppy kinda blips out and has to recover once he sees the end product. Then proceeds to fail spectacularly at being subtle with his staring and loving gazes at Bad, which everyone but Bad notices and calls him out on to his annoyance.
