how it genuinely feels to have someone who agrees with your somewhat niche stances on a character
Not to be on my bullshit again, but about my Whispered One Vessel AU. It's been stuck in my head. In the universe, the Briarwoods kill the de Rolos when Percy is 10 and Cass is 5 because they need time to train the vessel.
Delilah did the ritual when Percy was quite young, around three months after the murder of the de Rolos. The Whispered One thought she was providing a willing vessel, and Percy was very much just a scared kid who didn't understand why there was someone else in his mind now. Vecna is angry at Delilah for taking a child's body, but Percy is so scared that he comforts him and calms him down.
Vecna is within Percy a lot of the time. They talk when Percy is alone and tired or asleep. He starts to feel an affection for the boy, like his own son. Delilah treats Percy terribly, because the ritual was never meant to have him still be within his body. Vecna was supposed to take over fully, but the ritual components weren't right and it messed it up. She only cares about her lord, which frustrates the Whispered One to an extent, because the body he is encompassed in on the mortal plane is in such terrible shape from her neglect and the strain his magic has on Percy's body
OMG the irony of Vecna being a BETTER person than Delilah (and Ripley) and that small unwilling kids is were he draws the line on his evil plan to ascend.
At this point , he might as well escape Whitestone with Percy and have him his adopted son live happily traveling the world, training him for the ritual, or looking for another willing vessel so he can have Percy ruling at his side as his right hand man/champion. Maybe even consider have VM join his forces since they make Percy happy, and then things become akward after Vax becomes the Matron's champion.
So many possibilities!
Delilah outright ignores both de Rolo siblings when the Whispered One is not in control of Percy. Even when he might be there, in the back of his mind, observing, she simply doesn't care. When Percy is too exhausted to even be awake, she still forces him to and makes him push Vecna forward. Even after 13 years of being a vessel, Percy's body can't handle Vecna's power for more than a day without physically collapsing, so he tries to limit his control to no more than five hours a day.
Delilah also sometimes refuses to give Cass the potion that heals Percy's corruption. The purple reached his throat once, and he started vomiting blood. Inside their mind scape, Percy was scared and hurting, so Vecna took control, even if it made the corruption worse. He didn't want this boy to experience more pain than necessary. He marched right to Delilah's workshop, even with the pain, and demanded the potion because Percy's body mattered to him.

My oh my... Actually, I'd never thought about that. But if I must, it would be... Shadowheart? Not the wit, of course, I've got non of that. I'm talking more about... confidently walking the path I thought was true, abadon it and start a new one with a hope for the better? With old ambitions always gets reminded, and being dissapointed and dissapointment at the same time. But... Well, if someone got to the better end even by confronting the goddess, maybe and I can do something despite all odds? I've lost a couple of years and now... now I'm getting ready for another try. Kingsley as Widogast's monster. I can't think much about it, all my brain could produce is barking (and I have not read Frankenstein, so I don't know all of possible details of that kind AU's).
...Well, actually I can. Because I have an OT3 which I adore.
Would Essek help Caleb with that experiment? And would Caleb be devastated then he doesn't bring Mollymauk back, but bring Kingsley to this world instead? Would he do his best to help this new life to learn how to live? And what would other members of M9 do about it?
Or if he actually bring Molly back, wouldn't he be terrified of what he had done? Would he be ashamed of his decisions and how selfish he was to not letting go? And how would his lovers help him to get to live with that consuming guilt?
Molly's/Kingsley's learning sometimes would be funny and sweet. He have some trouble with his memories and at first times his coordination would be real shit. And by that I mean he would sometimes drop things, stumble on nothing and would be really in need of someone's support (maybe even walking and eating would be trouble, so then he managed to walk by himself and hold his spoon through the whole dinner it would be a small, but very important victory). I don't see either Molly or King as someone who would be scared by his new condition... Well, maybe a little, because oh dear he reeks death and graveyard (and maybe Essek could help it by some perfume? some matching perfume for all of them oh my chaos).
And in the end they would have a very fragile human wizard with whom they would be until he passed in his bed, all grey and wrinky, but so much loved. And then there would be Essek's turn he would take Molly/King with him to the other side (your honor, I hope they would be buried all three together, they deserved it).
