basil linwood
born march 2, 2044 in ellsworth, maine. he moved to massachusetts in high school, where he met nora.
nickname is “b,” since it’s generally easier and people won’t mispronounce it (pronounced: bazz-ul)
was a sniper in the army before he retired and became a school teacher, which he had initially gone to school for. he was a 4th grade social studies teacher when the bombs dropped
REALLY loves comics and radio shows, especially the silver shroud. he collects all the comics he can find in the wasteland, and works to try and refurbish damaged copies
sides with the minute men and the railroad; he works really hard to make settlements nice and clean up, and has made efforts to try and get things moving back towards pre-war comfort
following the events of fallout 4, he sets up a radio station that’s a lot like NPR, to try and get educational programming to the whole wasteland.
he begins to ghoulify after the quest in the glowing sea; his hazmat suit had a small fault with exposed him to radiation, and he had been infected with FEV prior to entering the glowing sea. a combination of the radiation and FEV virus triggered the transformation to begin very quickly after returning.
proposes to hancock during the events of the game, and marries him after everything. they settle down in goodneighbor.
i’ve had a hard time pinning exactly what basil’s sexuality is, but he’s either bisexual or pansexual. he probably just settles for “queer,” since he didn’t really figure himself out until he started falling in love with hancock and was kind of like “wait a second”
b may or may not be some level of nonbinary? he’s pretty comfortable with being fluid with his presentation, and probably wouldn’t necessarily object to having people use pronouns other than he/him. i don’t think he’s a huge fan of specific labels because his experience is a bit hard to describe just with a label.
