DadJuice AU (1/7)
Today I’ll be talking about my Beetlejuice dad AU, or DadJuice! There’s art at the end :) @possum-quesadilla
Here’s the DadJuice playlist.
Basic plot:
Beetlejuice is a father. The plot is very Beetlelands-y. Barbara is the mother, and Beej and Adam are the dads. They’ve got two kids, Bellatrix and Orion. I haven’t written much about this au yet, but it’s essentially Beej and the Maitlands figuring out how to be parents.
There’s some angst in it, with Beetlejuice being anxious that he’ll mess up his kids the same way Juno messed up him. Barbara was very anxious during her pregnancy, due to her past miscarriage. Beej tries to reassure her that their kids will be born dead anyways, but that doesn’t fully take away her anxiety.

She/her
She’s a very smart girl, and often is the one getting her brother out of trouble. She’s caring, logical, and pretty chill. She cares a lot for her family. She has a lot in common with Adam, and likes spending time with him. She likes watching him work on his model of the town. She's sort of expected to be the “calm kid”, which puts pressure on her.
Orion
He/him
Orion is Bellatrix’s twin brother. He’s very high energy, and gets himself into trouble quite often. His main problem is that his mouth moves faster than his brain. He takes after Beetlejuice the most, both physically and mentally. He’s rowdy, funny, but also struggles with fitting in. Luckily, he’s got Barbara as a mom, and she always tries her best to help him out. He’s a really curious kid. He was put on a leash for a while. The green patches on his body are skin; he was just born like that.
Orion and Bellatrix are, as my former science teacher once put it, oopsies children. When questioned by them, Beetlejuice calls them his surprise kids.
An interesting thing about them is that they look like demons, have powers like ghosts, but age like humans. Born deads are very rare, Beetlejuice being one of the few ones, so everyone’s sorta learning about each other at the same time. They have some traits that are completely unique to them, like horn color.
Lydia is like the fun aunt/babysitter. She loves hanging out with the kids, and they love hanging out with her.
Beetlejuice wanted the kids to go to a neitherworld school, but Barbara and Adam wanted them to go to a human school. They ended up making a compromise. Kids go to a human school during the weekdays, and on some evenings and weekends, they go to a neitherworld school, where they can learn more about their demonic side.
Both Bellatrix and Orion have human disguises. Bellatrix’s disguise has more of Barbara’s features, while Orion’s disguise has more of Adam’s features.
The two generally have a good relationship, ignoring the arguments they have over tiny things. Those problems get resolved within 72 hours. When they do have big fights, they can last for a while.
I came up with this AU a year ago. The first time I drew Bellatrix, I was at a restaurant and I drew her with my finger on my phone.
