If Voldemort survived that night

The best thing about pairing Harry with older men is that I can have him adopted, romanced or even both at the same time.

Day 9 - Trinket | Words 625
@tomarrymortmicrofics
Lord Voldemort had a headache.
Listening to Lucius and Bellatrix attempt to tear each other’s throats out with words banter was usually an amusing affair.
Tonight however it was aggravating.
Voldemort was not even sure what they were arguing about this time, but he was a hair’s breadth away from cursing them both.
His fingers twitched with the urge to rub his temples and reached for his wand instead.
While usually more observant to their Lord’s mood, both were too engrossed with their petty bickering to notice.
Contemplating which curse to use Voldemort swept his eyes around his office, and considered a backsplash of blood would only complement the current colour scheme.
They fell into a blessed silence as the office door opened and a smaller figure rushed into the room.
Voldemort felt his headache already receding.
The boy barely glanced at the Death Eaters as he rounded the desk to stand by his chair.
His child, usually more composed, was bouncing on his feet and staring up at him with wide green eyes. His frame all but vibrated with elation, but at least he had the sense to remain silent.
“What is it child?” Voldemort prompted, giving the boy permission to speak.
“Look what I found,” he replied proudly, voice high with excitement. He pulled a dirty hand from behind his back to display an animal’s skull. A rabbit skull by the look of it.
“Can I keep it?”
“It is a skull, not a pet or pretty trinket.” Voldemort took the skull from Harry and sent a small cleaning spell to remove the dirt from the boy’s hands and face.
As if sensing he would deny his child’s request, Harry clambered onto his lap and sent him an entreating look.
And the adorable pout and puppy eyes did not make him waver.
“You have a skull,” Harry argued. A valid argument for a five year old to make and weaponised with an imploring look; weaker men would crumble.
Voldemort was not a weaker man.
Though yes, he did have a skull. However it was not merely ornamental, but a vital component to a few select rituals.
“If the little Lord wants a human skull,” Bellatrix chose that moment to speak up. Voldemort had almost forgotten the presence of the bothersome pair. “Aunty Bella would gladly supply one for him.”
“Really?” Harry lit up eagerly.
“No.” Voldemort shut down the plan immediately.
And now he had two pouts to contend with.
“Please,” his child begged softly, leaning into him and widening his eyes more. The boy even managed to make his eyes water slightly, as if to be denied such a ridiculous request would make him cry.
Voldemort’s head gave a painful throb as his headache threatened to return with a vengeance.
He pulled his gaze away from bright green eyes to share a long suffering look with Lucius.
And what was the world coming to that he shared parental exasperation with Lucius Malfoy of all people.
“My decision is final,” Voldemort said in a tone that closed the matter. “You can’t have a skull, human or otherwise.”
The child’s shoulders dropped in defeat and Bellatrix mirrored his action.
“Ok,” they both muttered unhappily, and did they really think that Lord Voldemort missed the mischievous look that passed between them.
Voldemort would bet that Harry would be presented with a human skull by the end of the week.
He considered doing something about it - they should know better than to disobey him - but as the child settled against him, his touch eliminating his headache completely, Voldemort wondered if it was worth the trouble.
As long as Harry kept the skull hidden in his room, he supposed there was no harm in it.
Death’s Bitesize Bits and Bobs
Recent weeks were not very kind to me, so I did only some silly doodles for comfort like Severitus Bambi AU
I was rewatching it recently and I was like… “Prince of the Forest”… grouchy but caring and is looking after a young orphan with whose mother he was close….
But I didn’t forget about stuff I planned for @isalisewrites Elysium’s Sanctuary…. I just want it to look perfect 😭
But have a sketch of Harry and V hugging in the meantime <3
