i have fulfilled my purpose
well cool i don’t care heres a rundown;
10 experienced and professional hikers went on a mountain in 1959.
one of the members, yuri yudin; started experiencing severe joint pain.
he decided he should just go home, as he believed he would only slow the group down. that left the hikers with 9 people.
as the group went through what is now known as the dyatlov pass, severe weather would start to diminish their bearings. they eventually stopped at the side of the mountain, as it was getting late and stormy.
yudin, the man who went home - was supposed to be receiving a telegram from the hikers when they were coming back. after weeks of not getting one, he reported the group as missing, and a search was set out in the area.
-
upon investigation; the tent was found first.
there was a few things interesting about it. it was caved in, and it appeared that one - - or several of the hikers, had cut it open from the inside. this made absolutely no sense, as they were very experienced, and would not have done this unless they needed to flee from something.
many were found to be underdressed when they left. their footsteps were also discovered to be heading away from the campsite.
the weird thing about these footsteps were that they weren’t scattered. they were very organized, one by one after another. this means that these hikers walked down a straight fucken line, underdressed, down a hill, in freezing weather. negative thirty degrees.
this case only got more shocking and confusing when bodies were discovered. yuri doroshenko was found first. he was laying down face first in the snow by a cedar tree. broken branches and a setup for a bonfire were next to him.
grey fluid was coming out of his mouth. there was a burn on his head and foot. his ears, mouth, and nose were covered in blood.
the fluid coming out of his mouth suggested that a strong force had been applied to his chest.
maybe he fell out of the tree? that would makes sense, as the branches around him had clearly broken off from it.
but, despite these findings: his death was labeled as hypothermia. the key details that suggested otherwise never made the official report.
the second body found was that of yuri krivonischenko’s. (a lot of yuris, i know) his body had multiple cuts spread out on it + he was heavily bruised. adding on to this, burns were found on his hands, feet, and legs. chunks of his own knuckle were in his mouth.
now, one thing about these bodies was that they were proved to be moved after death. the group may have found these two and put them in a more respectful position.
the third body that was found was igor dyatlov’s, the former leader of the group.
both of his fists were clenched and he was face up. it was clear that his body was also manipulated after he died.
there were cuts and bruises on his face, along with bruising on his ankles. one of his teeth were missing.
the coroner inspecting his body reported that these injuries were consistent with ones caused from a fist fight. despite these findings, his official death was labeled hypothermia.
body number 4, was zinaida kolmogorova’s.
there were bruises on her face, and abrasions on her hands. there was also a long bruise found on the side of her body.
these details suggested a struggle. that she was maybe hit with something repeatedly.
however, her death was labeled as hypo. fucken. thermia. (you may be noticing a pattern here)
a week later, the fifth body was found. it was rustem slobodin’s. he was laying face down in the snow.
there was internal bleeding in his temples + a large fraction on his skull. it’s unclear what caused these injuries, but experts concluded that he was alive for atleast an hour after the hemorrhaging.
they theorized that he eventually became so disoriented and dizzy that he collapsed onto the ground, and that while awake - - rustem had swiftly died of hypothermia. It is believed his body was moved after death.
anyways I gotta go but I might ramble about the rest of this another time thank you all for coming to my tumblr essay that I did instead of classwork
