as a survivor of sa and rape i have a lot of things to say about the gnf situation and especially how the internet handled it

first: yes, george should or could have done better.

however my biggest issue is people calling gnf a rapist or calling it sa, those people obviously do not understand WHAT about it is that makes sa and rape so traumatizing.

discomfort or physical pain is not what makes it so bad. its someone else taking pleasure in hurting you like that, its dehumanizing and humiliating and other things i dont even know the words for.

someone knowingly and willingly regarding your consent and violating you like that can damage you in a way that someone accidentally making you uncomfortable during mutual flirting NEVER could.

the intent and disregard for the victim as a person is what makes SA so terrible on so many levels.

someone not noticing a signal or accidentally crossing a boundary is a mistake. and trying to put that to the same level as SA is disrespectful to every victim, its belittling and downplaying just how horrible an experience like that is.

(not that uncomfortable situations cant be traumatizing or make you feel trapped and are horrible, thats no question and its valid)

but miscommunications and mistakes happen in human interactions and no honest mistake or misunterpretation can be put on the same level as SA and rape.

caiti herself said not to call it that and as a survivor i felt ridiculed and angered by people putting my experience on the same shelf as someone making a mistake.

people cant see nuance in situations anymore and its making me sad and frustrated.

i saw someone say that "people pick up their progressive ideology but forget to unlearn the concepts of their previous beliefs" which turns progressiveness into puritanism 2.0 and this leads to stuff like this, people labeling something as sa or rape, knowing it is inexcusable and genuinely one of the worst things you can do to another person, but refuse to acknowledge nuance and different situations that arent black and white because they dont actually UNDERSTAND their own beliefs, they just want to be the morally right and pure ones because thats what you do t get cancelled for on twitter by people that are in the same progressiveness/purity trap. which hurts victims more than it helps.

they wanna be right and morally above all but dont care to actually get into uncomfortable subjects

and then using it to crap on peoples interests is nothing but something they can use to excuse their bully behavior and frame it as morally correct.

Was on Pinterest and some old DSMP screenshots and clips showed up and it got me thinking. Like. It's kinda fucked up that on top of Dream outright calling his obsessive, abusive, horrible character a wish fulfillment self insert openly, he also did things to/with the IRL teenage Tommy like: (list under the cut, cw warning for.... either grooming or just being a creep in general)

- Try to get Tommy to come to Florida or move there once he became an adult.

- Encourage Tommy to talk about him or George being hot and try to get him to say it more or expand on it if he joked about it

- Make sex jokes about Tommy and about having sex WITH Tommy, and there's even a clip of another member of the smp catching it and saying it was weird and Dream saying it's a joke. And then Tommy is like "we can change the subject," and they just....leave it there??

- Try and get Tommy to say "I love you"

- Bake Tommy into a cookie, post the photo online, and then reply to Tommy's retweet about how he looks hot as a cookie so he can make a follow up post @ Tommy where he fake stabs it with an edible knife and fake edible blood??? For funsies??? And then supposedly EATS HIM????

And everyone was SOMEHOW like "yeah this is normal behavior that no one should be concerned about :D"

At BEST he has terrible boundaries with minors and at WORST he was being a fucking creep pedophile and like. THE RED FLAGS WERE ALWAYS THERE. I guess this technically can fall into the "real people" catergory and make it invalid but Id argue that it is enough of a persona to not be counted- up to you Dream, specifically regarding his Minecraft manhunt series is an avatar of the hunt. (I am not a fan of this creator, i used to be but for many many reasons i dropped him a while ago. however i think this idea is interesting) actually all of the people who took part in the game are- they are LITTERALLY CALLED THE HUNTERS. the only reason that kind of goes against them being avatars is the fact that they have a goal that always gets achieved but that didn't stop the manhunt until the end of the five hunters series. if it werent for the creators reputation id write/draw an au about this
