Little blacksmith's boy ⚒️
I love Martin and Radzig! I think they did the best at raising Henry with the resources and wisdom they had
I'm replaying KCD1, both with my friends and alone and I have some notes regarding Radzig's relationship with Henry pre-game events.
He says he knows Radzig. I doubt just the little interaction with the sword and over the walls of Talmberg would be enough to qualify as knowing him. I mean, everyone in Skalitz saw Radzig on occasion, it's a given many probably talked to him. But Henry says he knows Radzig.
Knows him well enough to want to go see him in the castle immediately after arriving at Rattay. When Theresa and various guards all call him out for this breach of social standards at the time.
Knows him well enough to argue against him over the walls of Talmberg and disagree with him publicly. I mean who heard of a blacksmith son arguing with his liege lord's orders? The fact we see Henry keep acting insolent and comfortable around nobles when literally no one else from Skalitz does that...
Knows him well enough that it isn't weird to him that Radzig asks him in Talmberg if Henry wants to join him and the rest of the Skalitz refugees or to stay in Talmberg. The fact it was a question is wild.
Knows him well enough that when Radzig offers Henry to try out the sword he jumps at the opportunity and doesn't think anything of how odd and inappropriate it actually is.
The point is, Radzig treats Henry differently since we see him appear on screen and Henry is aware of it and is used to it. From before the games. He says he knows Radzig, and, idk, I don't think the limited interactions we see is enough to qualify as that. Plus how Janek and Jaroslav call Henry "his lordship" and know him well, how he speaks to nobles... it all creates a clear implication that Radzig interacted with Henry before the games and Henry's special treatment was noted by Henry himself.
And another note, Theresa says this:
Right in your first coherent conversation with her after arriving at Rattay. She notices it's weird, Henry notices its weird. Henry can be dense and oblivious, but he isn't actually stupid. He knows Radzig treats him differently — which is why he was so certain he could just walk in and demand to be taken into Radzig's service without fear of punishment.
So yeah. I'm just noting how Henry seems aware he is allowed by Radzig things he shouldn't be and rolls with it since it was always like this.
Basically, Radzig cares and didn't lie when he said he watched over Henry. in his own awkward weird way, but still!
(I thought I'm replaying for Hansry, but I just didn't realize how much I missed Dadzig in the second game. I love Dadzig so much)
Dadzig 😳😳😳
Have y’all read @brittnodo ‘s dadzig fic? Because I DID and I can’t stop thinking about it. 😭 ❤️ thanks for the art fuel.
(Also little Henry you SCAMP — you WOULD steal a piglet when you heard it would be made into someone’s dinner).
Radzig meeting Henry’s friends for the first time.
+Fic thoughts about this scene from Radzig’s POV
