arya wintersbane: eldest child, born before the war ends, dany was actually in battle when she went into early labor, arya stark kept guard while dany deliver her first child into the world; like her namesake she tends to stand out among her more targaryen-esque siblings, more a wolf than a dragon, preferring her dancing lessons with her aunt to practically anything. since her birth she had the pure stark looks, dark hair and gray eyes, and as such she often stood out beside her towheaded siblings. jon and dany name her their heir (even after aemon is born) but arya herself abdicates in favor of her younger brother aemon and becomes the captain of his kingsguard, the fist to her brother’s decrees. she ruthless puts down a rebellion in the westlands during her first year as captain and as she and aemon grow into their rules she becomes his main source of counsel and support, fiercely protective of her family and their interests. she tended to be a standish, blunt woman with an uncompromising attitude toward her idea of right and wrong. she wasn’t close to any of her siblings in her youth, but grow very close to aemon as his captain, and tended to clash often with her mother and her father. she spent six years at winterfell with her aunt, which she repeatedly remarks was her happiest time.
aemon, the dragon’s son: born about year after arya, after the war for the dawn has ended, he was a quiet, reserved child more interested in reading and philosophy than warmaking and ruling. he also becomes more and more interested in political reform, smallfolk rights, and resource innovation. before he becomes kings he introduces a new type of crop irrigation to the reach. because of his popularity his eldest sister abdicates her claim to the throne. though he would have been content as a maester or a member of the small council, aemon ascends the throne. the crown never rests easy on his head and he ages well before his time, not added by a rather loveless marriage. he tends to be a far gentler hand than arya and often relies on her council when having to have ruthless decisions. the smallfolk love him and he goes down as one of westeros’s most successful kings. as he grew in adulthood his bright blonde targaryen looks settled and darkened until he closely resembled his father, including his slow temper and calm demeanor. he was very much his mother’s son, often found in his youth sitting at her knee or quietly sitting in her lap during endless hours of council meetings.
rhaella, the little queen: born at the tail end of winter, four years aemon’s junior, five year’s arya, rhaella was immediately a lively and lovely child, and carried the bright silver and purple eyes of her targaryen ancestors all her life, and was reportedly called “the apple of her father’s eyes”, but she had a talent of wrapping just about any man around her dainty finger. she was especially close to her elder brother aemon in his youth and there were even some (concerned) rumbling that aemon and rhaella would be married in the targaryen fashion. rhaella always developed a quick, cunning mind to go along with her good lucks, the ruthlessness of her sister paired with her brother’s mind for politics. she was always two steps ahead of everyone else. she brokered her brother’s marriage to a lysene noblewoman and went on to arrange her own marriage to the current lord of casterly rock, effectively ending the final tensions between the lannisters and the targaryens. though she was not close to her eldest sister, it was said after she left king’s landing both arya and aemon were last without her.
lyanna, lady of the first spring: born during the height of a spring, well after daenerys’s was considered past her childbearing years, lyanna was nearly ten years rhaella’s junior (with almost fifteen years between her and arya) and was often a sickly child. in her earliest days jon and dany would take turns sleeping beside her so she would not be alone in case she passed in the night. but lyanna persevered, blessed with the same blonde hair and lilac eyes of rhaella. a true targaryen princess. lyanna was babied by not only her mother and father but by her considerably older siblings as well. a bit of a tomboy, with a quick, hot anger, lyanna was rumored to scare off nearly every suitor that came to see her. during the early period of her brother’s reign lyanna was caught in bed with alannys greyjoy, one of yara greyjoy’s many daughters, and following the scandal lyanna decided she sail with alannys across the world, despite the protests of every one her siblings (rhaella had even come to help mitigate the damage). lyanna claimed a desire to see the ruins of old valyria and to dream of awakening dragons as her mother had. her last known sitting was sailing headlong into the smoking sea.
