My corncob collection has double recently. I like the new stickers they put on the bottom.
Tonights pipe, My Dagner Cob filled with the last of my tin of University Flake.
One of my colleagues started watching The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes last night so I borrowed the first disc from her when she finished and watched the first two episodes tonight between doing paperwork for cadets and my actually work tonight. I’ve seen a few episodes but never watched them as a series and I’m looking forward to it.
This came in the mail. Got a Latakia blend to smoke in my first Dagner pipe. I love this thing already.

Dan Freeman and the Serious’ “Dagner” is genuinely one of the most visually stunning videos I've seen in a long time. I don’t really have anything specific to point out here because everything in this video works itself into another part of the video. Everything is connected both literally and figuratively in the video, by string and by plot. What a masterful video.
Pipe Experience: Dagner "Santa's lump of coal" Break-in w. HH Old Dark Fired
"Santa's lump of coal" by Dagner is one of my first purchases in the 2nd half of 2015. But, it came to my hands as the 4th Dagner pipes. Since the guy sold the pipe shipped only in the U.S., I had to have it shipped to my cousin living in LA and she brought the pipe with 3 more additional pipes arriving in Korea last night.
Of course, I picked up Lump of Coal for the first smoke of day. No other options I could think of. Choosing the tobaccos was a rather bitch. But, soon I found several flakes of HH Old Dark Fired left out of can wrapped up with a sheet of paper of my pocket book. Yes, the one in the photo.
The flakes were over-dried being forgotten for whole evening. Yet, better for break-in the pipe, I considered. I intended to smoke to the last crumble of tobacco.
I didn’t put a rubber tip on the stem because I was afraid to suck as hell as I am always enjoying with Dagner’s pipes. Since the tobacco is super dried, the temperature will burn the virgin pipe. That I can’t do.
Now I am smoking after packing the bowl up to the half, you know, complying with the break-in rule. Yet, I am reluctant for this rule as I already have experienced with Dagner’s boys: burning hard and pumping smokes in line with a ‘Working Man’s Pipe’ as Jayson (Dagner) signifies often on his works.
I sip the smoke like an old chauffeur driving an vintage Rolls-Royce for his old master. This is a moment to taste Lump of Coal’s quiet side.
Despite my concern for the dried tobacco, the pipe delivers very deep and pleasant sweetness, even Umami of top Virginia leaves. I mean the sweet taste is even refreshing as it comes from the pipe.
The rustication of this pipe is in a super quality as all Dager’s pipes are. But the uniqueness is the pattern of outer texture like you may find from corn cobs. This pattern is more obvious from the prototype of this style owned by Jason Dagner himself. What a pleasant and fun twist! (I like to strongly suggest Jason to come up with pipes in nude!!! I mean it, my friend.)
I love the shape of bowl: Whisky Shot Glass figure. I mean the look is just cool. With the tick wall, the shape produces a great grip perfect for pipe smoking walkers as I am.
I am still smoking the tobacco in the Lump of Coal. I really do hope there is a way I can express the taste of smoke I am experiencing now. Such joy and pleasure. Although I am alone lack of conversation, the true virtue of pipe smoking, I am happy as a clam talking with you guys in text. And I thank Jason Dagner for such calm excitement.
