Seriously. Depending on how you interpret the  phrasing of the poem, the dragon’s blood in Beowulf either PARTIALLY DISSOLVES HIS SWORD (with implied poisonousness acidity) or PARTIALLY MELTS IT (with sheer dragon-rage-heat) or maybe it does BOTH, and that’s on top of Beowulf’s tendency towards hitting like a Thwomp on steroids. That sword didn’t stand a chance. Wiglaf had to have been like “holy fuck my lord”. (It’s entirely possible that Squeenix totally knew about this dragon business; there’s Beowulf shoutouts in FFT, and Aymeric’s sword Naegling is named for one of Beowulf’s.)

My writing does tend towards "everyone lives dammit" but by no means does that indicate that people are untouched or unaffected by things. Keristrasza isn't randomly assaulted for Grimmy Grimmy Grimdark arbitrary reasons; she still does cope with the aftermath of "Soooooo! Malygos went balls-to-the-wall paranoid and I was involved in a total clusterfuck that came out of that; I was a hostage for a while, after that clusterfuck. While Maly and his cohorts were not cruel or violent, being an empath in the house of a dude whose emotional state was REALLY BAD is not great...and I could feel it deteriorating as I watched. And I could feel that he felt it, so that sucked. Like, all of his magic carries his feelings. He's in a bad way. I'm gonna need some time to recuperate, beauties and gentlebeauties." No torturous shit. No GRRM wannabe arbitrary trash. No physical violence. Trauma, yes, but she can recover and she doesn't die. I really hate how Blizz treats dragons and I tend to heavily rewrite everything. People who wish to adhere to canon can do that, but I refuse because I am That Kind of a Bitchqueen :3
