DagSys origins Pt1

DagnySystem was inspired by Miomir.

DagnySystem was conceived as a thought experiment - a concept of a world that existed in the proximity of a pulsar.

The name DagnySystem was a duel inspiration. Dagny Taggart from Atlas Shrugged and Dagobah System from Star Wars.

DagnySystem was refined to be three major moons locked in a 1:2:4 orbital resonance around a ringed gas giant named Dagny.

All three major moons are tidally locked to Dagny creating some very interesting dynamics for days, months, years and seasons.

DagnySystem moons in order from Dagny are Mimosa, Valencia and Bellini (names coincidentally refer to alcoholic drinks that contain champagne)

DagSys Definitions

Dagny System:

DagnySystem is the planetary system where the DagSys Saga takes place. Dagny is a gas giant much like Jupiter orbiting its star Leto. Leto is part of a binary system and its sister star is Asteria. Asteria has long ago gone supernova and is now a pulsar.

Dagny is orbited by hundreds of moons, only three of which are substantial, known as The Primaries. The are in order of orbit, Mimosa, Bellini and Valencia. These three moons are in a 1:2:4 resonance, meaning one year on Valencia is four Mimosan years. Overall the Primaries account for 99% of the mass rotating Dagny, which also includes an impressive system of rings.

All three primaries are water worlds, meaning most of their surfaces are covered with liquid water. All three have solid iron cores which are constantly twisted by Dagny's massive gravitational pull. They therefore all have active volcanoes, in fact, just about every land mass poking through their oceans, is a volcano. They also recieve significant thermal input from not just Leto, but from the gravitational forces deep within their cores. This force is reduced the further each moon orbits. Its due to this that Valencia is the only Primary with permanent ice on its poles.

Life evolves independently on each of the moons, though its only on Mimosa where bipedal intelligent humanoid life evolves.
