Small Drabble that came to mind while throwing my Kufiyah in the laundry #DAI
“You don’t even use daggers.” The Iron Bull stated, his hands at his sides and his face amused. “You’re just adding weight to your pack.” He grinned a little before saying, “You going for a record?”
Alex thought for a moment. They knew he was right, but to give him the satisfaction was almost worth adding to the excess weight of their already overpacked bag. They hummed and thought again, before sighing and looking up. A deep, dark ravine cracked open the sandy earth a few yards in front of them. Alex shrugged and smirked, lifting their arms up. “Kobe,” they said as they tossed the dagger over the ravine and into the abyss, as much as a person can toss a dagger like a basketball.
“Kobe?” The Iron Bull almost chuckled, his face curled in confusion and amusement.
“He was a professional basketball player.” They realized how silly they sounded, especially now explaining theirself. “It’s a… sport.” Is everything they say normally this strange and niche to them and them only?
“You play sports?” The Iron Bull chuckled, already knowing the answer.
“No, but everyone knows who Kobe Bryant is.”
“Is it common for your people to invoke the name of this Professional ‘Basketball’ player before throwing something?” Solas chimed behind them.
Alex thought for another moment. “You know… yeah. Maybe?” They shrugged, “Kinda.”
“Interesting.” Solas said, leaning on his staff and squinting against the unforgiving glare of the afternoon sun. He didn’t find it interesting at all, but they were good for an odd moment of amusement. Despite his attempt at disliking their strange tagalong.
It was quiet again, save for the sound of sand being blown across more sand.
“That was my dagger…” Cole spoke, dejectedly.
