"Unspoken-Feelings"
Shikadai x Chocho fanfiction
Part 2.
•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
As the group strolled through the streets of Konoha, Shikadai found his gaze wandering. In the distance, the girls were walking together, their laughter carrying through the warm breeze. His eyes naturally fell on her—Chocho. Slim and graceful, her orange hair catching the sunlight, her tan skin glowing with an ethereal light. To him, she wasn’t just beautiful; she was *Chocho*. Despite the changes over the years, she was still the same person he’d grown up with, the same person who always managed to steal his focus.
His stare lingered too long, and he quickly looked away, cursing inwardly. The boys would never let him hear the end of it if they noticed. He adjusted his collar nonchalantly, pretending he hadn’t just been utterly mesmerized.
But someone had noticed. Inojin’s sharp blue eyes caught the moment, his smirk creeping across his face like a cat who’d cornered a mouse. Yet, for once, he kept his mouth shut—opting to let the scene unfold later.
---
That afternoon, Shikadai and Inojin walked through the quieter parts of the village on their way home. The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting long shadows on the ground. It was peaceful—until Inojin broke the silence.
"You know," Inojin started, his tone far too casual, "I saw the way you looked at her earlier."
Shikadai tensed, his hands slipping into his pockets. "What are you talking about?"
Inojin laughed, a knowing lilt in his voice. "Oh, don’t play dumb, Shikadai. Chocho. You were staring at her like she hung the moon and stars."
"I wasn’t staring," Shikadai muttered, his face heating up. "I just…looked. She was there. It’s not a crime to look, is it?"
Inojin stopped walking, turning to face his best friend. His smirk softened into something more sincere. "You’ve liked her for a while, haven’t you? Don’t bother denying it. You’re terrible at lying when it comes to her."
For a moment, Shikadai hesitated. His usual calm demeanor cracked under the weight of the truth he’d been holding back. Finally, he sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, fine. I like her. Happy?"
Inojin burst out laughing. "I can’t believe this! You, of all people, falling for Chocho! The three of us have known each other since we were babies, and now this?!"
Shikadai frowned, his expression shifting to one of worry. "You think it’s funny, but what do you think the elders will say? Or our parents? The *InoShikaCho* tradition is supposed to keep things simple, to keep the team strong. What if they don’t approve? What if they’re…disappointed in us?"
Inojin’s laughter faded, and he placed a reassuring hand on Shikadai’s shoulder. "Listen, Shikadai. Who cares what they think? We’re not living in their time anymore. Things are different now. If you like Chocho, then you like her. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think you two would be great together."
Shikadai glanced at him, his worry easing slightly. "You really think so?"
Inojin nodded. "Yeah. And one day, you should tell her how you feel. Don’t let all this tradition stuff get in the way of what you want. Trust me, she might surprise you."
Shikadai chuckled lightly, feeling a weight lift from his chest. "You make it sound so simple."
"That’s because it *is* simple," Inojin replied with a grin. "Now, let’s just hope you don’t blow it when the time comes."
