Remember this?? Back when I still cared about trying to paint in realism.
This AU holds a special place in my heart bc Raven Baxter was the first Black girl-led sitcom I recall seeing and I was ENAMORED with her style and confidence. And the fact that she wasn't super skinny? Raven was a first in so many arenas and her character is forever on my moodboard.
Years later, in Chocho Akimichi and she feels like Raven reincarnated. Her confidence, her self, her image. She loves romance, she loves food, she loves being fashionable. She is everything I did not have the courage to be. This AU was what motivated me to learn how to draw, paint and deepen my skillset. Chocho and Raven to inspire me to be myself, to embrace my own style and hopefully inspire others to do the same :)
I also love the early Boruto episodes where Chocho is shown to be exceptionally perceptive about others and her surroundings, while also being obsessed with her own fantasies and narratives of grandeur. Not to mention that her use of Cho Modo to transform herself (and mask her true self in some cases) is classic Raven Baxter-disguise mechanism😂 In any case, I love when they are themselves and hope to do some more styles from the show.
