Better Than Life is Strange: Diverse Female Characters That Thrive

Life is Strange and it’s prequel, Before the Storm, seem to be at the top of every “LGBTQ female game protagonist” list right now. I’ve already done a fairly extensive revie…

Hot take: Life is Strange and Before the Storm, in spite of having wonderful, complex LBPQ women, treats them like shit and is a terrible example of LBPQ rep in gaming.

Recs include Night in the Woods (bi/pan MC with two gay best friends in a loving and supportive relationship), Road Not Taken by @spryfox (choose your own gender and sexuality, and date whoever you want!) and Tiny Bird Garden by @daisyein / @superretroduck (super positive mobile game with racially diverse characters drawn by a Black female artist.)

Since this is such a short list, and I haven’t been gaming long, I’m sure there are a lot more games worth including! Who did I leave out?

Concept art I created for my indie game, Tiny Bird Garden. :) This is Josie and Spirit, two characters from the game.

Making a game has been a life long dream of mine; all of the assets and artwork in the game (except for a couple of fonts) were made by me! I also did the music and sound design! 

I really hope the love and hopes I have for this project shows!!
