KDrama Again!

I'm watching Arthdal Chronicles and, in spite of all the mixed reviews, I've thoroughly been enjoying it!

The fantastic cast definitely has a large part to contribute to why it's been so enjoyable, obviously. The show has some great actors. SJK, for one, brought me in once I realized he was acting in one of the main roles.

(Yes, I watched Descendants of the Sun since I last screamed about TV shows. I've been marathoning KDrama. Ofc I watched Descendants of the Sun.)

Let me say, however, that I have never wanted to see an entire civilization and people burn as much as what I've seen till now of Arthdal. Let's avoid spoilers, for newcomers to the series, but man, what happens to the Neadthals and people of Iark? Makes me so mad. I hate watching innocents get hurt.

I'll probably pop in with a reblog of this post to add some info about the characters themselves! They've all been an absolute delight to watch, so far.

I've mentioned SJK as Eun Som, but KJW as Tan Ya and JDG as Ta Gon are killing it. Such great acting. Especially JDG. Ta Gon is such a complex and fascinating character.

Currently on episode 5 of season 1. That's still E05 on Netflix, which is where I'm watching it. They seem to have smooshed TvN's seasons 1 and 2 together.

Huh? Anon doesn't know the difference between racism and anti Semetism? Write what you want to write seriously omg. I'm sure there's enough PoC and Jewish people who'd give you constructive feedback if required for characters in your fics from those communities. And instead of talking/writing over them we can support their own works is always my preference. I hate this shaming it's stupid. Keep doing what you do so well ❤️

I mean, I’m not informed enough to be able to fully explain the difference, but I doubt they care. They just seem to think their unpleasant opinions are somehow important enough to be splurged all over me. I’m not as soft as I seem, though!

Wait, what? A vocal corner of fandom declared you couldn't describe people's clothes?

Oh this was a thousand years ago when fandom was on lj and ff.net was the main archive. I was a young nomad, obsessed with Gerard Way and making bad Tokio Hotel edits, but yes. Describing clothes was a major no-no.

I think it started out as decent enough writing advice. Characters changing everyday outfits is not a plot point and most readers don’t care to be updated on the colour of Harry’s shirt every second paragraph, but even back then, fandom had to take everything to the next level and it became the thing du jour to shit on other ppl’s writing over.

Even if you were writing a character whose style of dress was relevant to their characterisation... if someone who hated your guts got a hold of it, that’s it. You have committed the ultimate sin and exposed yourself as a Bad Writer™. Anyone who likes your work will be shamed for having Bad Taste and forcibly escorted from the fandom with you.

Fandom wank isn’t new, kids. It’s just became a little more... complicated.

The tiny bell above the door escorted the woman inside thecharming shop.  She canted her sunglassesup onto the top of her head, pushing the short auburn hair back from herforehead.  Alistair prepared hiswelcoming smile and planted his hands atop the glass counter, an array ofcheese artfully displayed within.

The woman paused on the welcome mat, brows knitted withconfusion.  “I’m…. not quite sure what Iwas expecting from a shop called Cheese, but it really is just full of cheese.”

Alistair felt the smile on his face begin to strain, as ifhe were visiting distasteful relatives that kept referring to the neighbors as ‘thatcharming knife-ear family’.

“You really must like cheese, then.”

“No!” he blurted, face twisting into a grimace.  She lifted a brow at the sudden crack in hisshopkeeping demeanor.

“I mean…” he gave a sigh and leaned forward over a case ofsome Orleasian import.  “I did.  They told me do what you love, but no oneever told me you can get tired of what you love.  Now I own a shop called Cheese and can barelystand the stuff.”

There was something soon after Trespasser where the devs said they thought they’d made it clear that the Inquisitor’s story was over based on the events of Trespasser. It was an interview panel somewhere, I can’t find it now. But I remember thinking it wasn’t quite the authoritative statement on what would happen in DA4 that some took it to be. There’s also the usual ‘BioWare said they will do a new protag’ that people trot out…

I'm gonna keep holding out hope then until we get a solid answer from somebody high up in the development team.

The books imo are 1000000 times better. I read them and my husband watches the series. I was unimpressed with what I saw and the story is much better.
