The fragrant white flowers of Olearia macrodonta (New Zealand holly, daisy tree) were humming with bees. This vigorous evergreen shrub has spiny-toothed leaves which have white-felt beneath. Here at Arduaine Garden, Scotland, the plant was thriving in the well-drained soil in full sun.

The Daisy Tree Montanoa grandiflora closeup.
