WIP folder game. I must know about EDI breaking Joker out of jail! 👀

So this one is what the title says: EDI breaks Joker out of jail. Well, pretty much. This takes place pre-ME3, when Shepard and Joker are on Earth and under lock and key. Joker, they are trying to get him to turn on Shepard and give up information about what happened at the Alpha Relay. But he won't (the Alliance doesn't know he's actually sleeping with Shepard heh), and pretty much, EDI finds a way to break him out of his 'cell' and get him back aboard the Normandy.

"You're what?" Joker swiveled around in his chair, eyes on the woman who'd stood behind him. "You know what they'll do to you, right? And to me just to get to you?" "It's why I'm having EDI drop you off on Omega. Garrus will take you somewhere. Get you away from Alliance reach." Aurora stared down at him, face unflinchingly serious, blue eyes nailing him to his seat despite the desire he had to get up and throttle her. Not a hair was out of place, secured tightly in a bun against her head, her uniform devoid of the Cerberus logo she refused to wear, pressed to perfection. She looked like the dangerous Commander that she was. But he could see beneath the facade. She was going to crack and without him by her side, she certainly would. "The hell you are." Joker tipped the brim of his hat up so he could meet her gaze without an ounce of fear. "This changes nothing." "It changes everything, Jeff." Maybe it did. He had no idea what the hell to expect when they got to Arcturus. But he wasn't going to leave her to take the fall alone. He would never leave her again. "It's you and me, Aurora." The statement was strong, sure, and if it surprised her, she didn't show it. "Always has been. I go where you go." "As do I." EDI's voice echoed in the cockpit, as determined as Joker. He failed to mention that EDI was tied to the ship that would be bringing Aurora to her doom, but they all knew the truth. Even if she wasn't part of the Normandy, EDI wouldn’t abandon them.

Teeth- What lasting mark do they leave on others?

Leila: As a Grey Warden, the normal answer for this would be people remember her for her protective nature, how she puts herself between evil and the innocent, her courage and tenacity. But that's not the sort of mark Leila wants to leave.

She wants people to remember her not for her heroism or for the tales told of her battles. She wants to be remembered for her kindness, for her ability to make people smile, to be able to help others without violence, especially when violence is so prevalent. She wants to leave the world a little better than when she arrived.

Hyoid/neck- Who taught them to speak up, or stay silent?

Ariadne: As a former slave, speaking up for herself was always difficult. Especially when she joined the Mercar family, despite Charon Mercar always telling her she was an equal to anyone in his house. It wasn't something an elven former slave believed. But when she met Tarquin, he helped her to find her voice. And it was because of him that she joined the Shadow Dragons in the first place. He showed her that she was more than her former life, she could make herself what she wanted, she could be strong. And because of him, she actually believed it.

Metacarpals- Do they ask for help or clench their fists and bear it?

Ava: She's stubborn. It's so hard for Ava to ask for help when she actually needs it. If she's doing something not serious, she has no issue getting people to come do the thing with her or to help her prank someone that rightfully deserves it. But if it's to help her with something she can't do or if she is hurt and really should seek help, she'll hide it, deny it, anything but actually get the help until she's passing out from blood loss. Girl needs friends like Viago to keep her ass in line.

Tomorrow's the day.

Dad says I should be fine, which... he didn't lie when he was telling me what happened to Hal and Leda's dad when his unit got ambushed by those worm things. Mom says I need to stop worrying, 'they've been doing this for centuries and probably know what they're doing'. That kind of makes me more scared. You remember what I heard her saying about asari when she came back from tour last time...

Is it weird that I don't like how they agree on this? I don't know, it just doesn't feel right.

But I should be fine. I've read a lot about the implants and the procedure and they've done it to every species that's shown up, so I should be safe, right?

I just want it to be over. I'm really hungry but I can't eat until after everything's done :( I didn't even really want to do this. Biotics are cool! And I know I'm lucky that I actually got the potential and not just tumors or something, and that Mom's okay and I shouldn't 'waste my potential'. And being able to move things with my brain is kind of cool to think about, but do I really need it? I like computers more, or maybe something like dad does, I don't want to always be on the ground.

I should go to sleep, I guess. Hopefully I can still write after tomorrow. I wonder how much they have to mess with?

I wonder if this is one of those brain surgeries they need to keep you awake for.

8. What would it take for them to break up?

Well, they've been broken up before, but that was before the bullshit of DATV happened.

Mainly, the blood magic is a line that Ariadne had a hard time forgiving in the first place. Not because of the magic itself, but because of where it comes from. Elgar'nan and the Venatori, his relationship with Zara, it's a betrayal even if they weren't together at the time. But I think the real test for their relationship was moving on from it all.

I think for Ariadne, another betrayal like the last one would be the final straw. I don't think Illario could come back from that. Not again. For him, I think it might be a bit more difficult for him to find the line he won't cross. Though, I suspect if Ari started treating him like he was lesser, not choosing him, making him realize she's not on the same path as him, that might be enough for him to rethink their relationship.

Alyril'fryn/Rugan

14. What's an opinion they'll never agree on? How do they deal with that?

For Alyril'fryn, magic. She's had a really bad experience involving magic and their wielders (primarily her own mother), and she won't let them heal her, has a difficult time finding common ground with them. She doesn't like travelling with mages, doesn't particularly like allying with them either. It was something she really struggled with when she joined the Zhentarim.

Rugan doesn't have as many hang-ups with those things like she does. As far as dealing with it, Rugan tends to communicate with the mages instead of her, and if she does have to be around them, Rugan is always there as a buffer. He tells her it's to keep the mage safe, but it's more to make sure she doesn't suffer a traumatic response.

2. An entry from Rook's journal for Ariadne Mercar

It's been nearly a year, but Tarquin still won't let it go. Whenever something happens that he can blame on me, he does. Brings up the memories of that night. The nightmares are bad enough, to remember the pain when the blood magic connected, to see how I looked immediately after.

I know he sees it whenever he glimpses the scars. Remembers how I almost didn't survive. And he's afraid of it happening again. It's why he gives me the shitty missions, and the Viper doesn't even question it.

I wish they'd stop treating me like I can't do anything right. I saved a life that night, I don't regret it once, yet they still treat me like I'm fragile.

Like I'm going to return to that night and not come out of it alright this time.

I wish they'd trust me, just once.

Cacio e pepe. It's simple enough for her to make herself, and she'll usually eat anything. But what sort of sads can't carbs solve?

6. What does their laugh sound like?

Loud, booming. Ava loves to laugh and enjoy herself. When she's having fun, you'll certainly know it.

20. What's something they do absentmindedly that their partner (if they have one) finds adorable?

Ava chews on her knuckles. Viago always found it annoying, constantly tried to stop her from doing it. But she's never listened to him. Lucanis catches her doing it when she's thinking and he finds it cute. She usually doesn't realize she's doing it when it's happening, and whenever someone mentions it to her, she just laughs.

2. What's their favorite comfort food that they eat when they're sad?

Pumpkin bread. It's something Dorian eats frequently so Ariadne ate it quite a bit when she moved in with him and the Inquisitor after Charon Mercar passed. It reminds her of warmth, home, comfort. She learned how to make it for Tarquin and the other Shadows and it's one of her favorite (and only) things she makes in the kitchen.

6. What does their laugh sound like?

She giggles. She swears she doesn't. Ariadne does not giggle, but she totally does.

Rubbing her legs together like she's a cricket. She only does this when under the covers, and it's the silliest yet cutest thing ever.

3. How often does Rook spend "alone time"?

Not often. She's usually either on a mission from the Shadow Dragons, which means she's probably got a person with her at all times. Or she's spending time around the Shadows, which again, there are people everywhere. Masturbation has never been a big thing with her, she'll do it if she needs a release, but finding an opportunity for it is hard.

5. Is Rook down for casual one-night stands?

No. That's not really her thing. While she doesn't have many romantic relationships, she also prefers them to flings. She likes to include feelings with sex so it's harder for her to want just sex.

8. What's Rook's favorite thing their partner can do for them in bed (hair-pulling, pinned wrists, etc)? Is there something they don't like at all?

Ariadne is a huge fan of oral: giving and receiving. She doesn't mind hair-pulling as long as it isn't overly painful. She also likes to use magic in the bedroom, so hot and cold play. She likes soft touches, whispered words, mood lighting. She wants to be wooed, essentially lol

11. What's Rook's favorite intimate non-sexual thing to do with their partner?

Lying in bed together, especially in the early mornings. She and Illario deserve lazy mornings where they can listen to the birds wake up and watch the sun rise through the windows. Where they can talk to each and cuddle, and just ignore their responsibilities, even for a few more minutes.
