Alectris Mercar

skull. what memories/thoughts do they guard the most from others ? I think Alectris doesn't like talking about her years in the army, both the good memories and bad because she's packaged these very carefully and they don't bother her as long as she's not touching those. And the good memories cannot be mentioned without disturbing the bad ones.

Also Alectris likes appearing well put together and as if she's got everything under control, so whenever things start to get out of hand she guards her concerns very carefully.

ribcage. who/what are they trying to protect ? I think it's complicated (but isn't it always) I think her first instinct would be to say nobody, but actually there's a long list of people and things she wants to protect. Starting with her family whom she thinks she has ultimately failed on every front, thus she keeps them at a respectful distance. If they barely hear from her and are rarely associated what she does cannot hurt them, right? If they can claim plausible deniability in case her associations with Shadow Dragons then they will be safe in case the worst happens.

She wants to protect Jerael and whoever works in her shop at any given time. She might appear aloof or harsh but she does what she thinks is best in the moment and wants to see them safe and free when the time is right.

Then there are also the Shadow Dragons with whom she insists nothing connects her beyond occasional business arrangement, but I don't think anyone truly believes that. She'd gone out of her way multiple times to ensure their interests are secured and safe.

What I don't think she'd be willing to admit tho under any circumstances is that she's trying to protect herself from feeling like a failure again in either real or perceived way. That's why she keeps lying to herself about how much she cares and why she has decided to write herself of as acceptable collateral damage in case of any emergency.

tibia. who/what keeps them moving forward ?

A combination of taking care of the shop and her mabari Kios and her friends Verinuis and Jerael. Then when Veilguard events come along it's the team and their work that keeps her up.

cheekbone. what makes them smile?

Ivy is pretty friendly, and loves to laugh, so there's really a host of things that make her smile. If you asked her, she would say something like "seeing a kid get immediate karma" aka a kid misbehaving in public tripping and falling -- however she's lying, she actually gets concerned for the kid and only laughs once she knows they're okay (gotta maintain her tough exterior!!!). Realistically, what makes her smile is her friends, sharing jokes and laughs, or when Lucanis brings her little gifts like he often does.

fibula. do they ever feel overlooked?

As the younger sister of a disabled sibling, I think she does occasionally feel overlooked -- more so when she was a kid, probably. She always had a good relationship with her sister, Olivia, so I don't think she resents her at all, but it was a source of arguments in childhood for sure. In her adulthood she's less worried about getting attention, and in fact prefers to fly under the radar since a lot of her work relies on stealth and reconnaissance. She hates to admit it, but she is a bit needy, so when Lucanis is particularly busy with First Talon Things TM she will get a bit irritable and require a bit of extra attention to help smooth it over.

Patella/kneecap, for Ava, Ariadne, and Juniper please?

Patella/kneecap- How compliant/obedient are they, who will they kneel for?

Ava: HAH Ava is the least obedient person in the Crows. Viago has massive headaches every day over this gremlin, and she enjoys driving him (and other people) crazy. She doesn't kneel for anyone. Except maybe Lucanis, but only if she needs to. Because she's a wild spirit that can barely be tamed.

Ariadne: Now, Ariadne would tell you to your face that she's not obedient, but in reality, if someone she respects gives her an order (the Viper, Dorian, Mae, etc), she willingly follows it. However, kneeling before someone is a huge ask of her. I feel like the only person who could really get her to kneel without some grumbling is the Divine.

Juniper: Juni is a wild spirit as well, but in a different way than Ava. While Ava causes chaos on purpose, chaos just follows Juniper wherever she goes. Juniper isn't 'obedient' but she's a lot more likely to listen to reason. If you have a good argument, she might change her mind, but that isn't a certainty. And she's not the kneeling type unless it's sexually.

Skull- What memories/thoughts do they guard the most from others?

Memories of her mother. Those are the most precious thing to her because she has so little of them. Her father, Soris, and Shianni are people she can easily discuss these with, but she doesn't offer these to people she doesn't trust. It takes her a while before she even talks to Zevran about her mother. She's protective of them, she doesn't want other people to tarnish them.

Ribcage- Who/what are they trying to protect?

Her people. The alienage. Her family. The only people she's known her entire life. She doesn't want the elven people to end up like her mother, like the others that didn't make it out of the Arl's house. She wants a better life for them all. And then there is Zevran. After meeting him, falling for him, she fights for him too. To keep him out of the hands of the Crows. To keep him free and safe.

Phalanges- What is their relationship with touch?

Complicated. After dealing with the Arl's son, that entire situation, she's hesitant to let anyone close. Zevran has to break down the walls she's built, and though he isn't human, he's still an assassin who was sent to kill her. Her trust is difficult to gain after the events that led to her becoming a warden. But he does get through, and by the end of the Fifth Blight, she accepts touch from different places. The gentle caresses from Zevran, a friendly hug from Leliana, a comforting hand on Morrigan's arm. It gets easier as time goes on.

Cheekbone- What makes them smile?

When she lived in Lothering, smiles came easier. She could laugh and grin at anything, even if it was stupid.

After Kirkwall, Varric's voice when he's reading a book to her brings a smile to her face. A cool breeze from the sea as it ruffles her hair. The seashells her daughter picked from the beach while in Rivain. The warmth of Varric's embrace as they stay in bed, just a little longer. She takes what she can get, and tries to live each day for what it is.

Ribcage- Who/what are they trying to protect?

Everyone. At first, it was Ferelden. Then it was her family. Her siblings, her mother. Her father's legacy. And then it extended to her friends in Kirkwall. To Varric. To Isabela. To Fenris. To the people who really mattered to her. And finally, her daughter. She does everything to protect Carine and in the end, it does cost her.

Ulna- Who stands by them no matter what?

Varric. Without him, I don't think Anabelle would've made it to Inquisition. Especially after losing most of her family. And as much as she believes Bethany would stand by her no matter what, she knows her sister has her own live to life. Her own destiny to fulfill. But Varric, she knows he'll be at her back. He'll be there to help her through the shitty times and to laugh with her in the good. And she'll do the same for him.

Teeth- What lasting mark do they leave on others?

Leila: As a Grey Warden, the normal answer for this would be people remember her for her protective nature, how she puts herself between evil and the innocent, her courage and tenacity. But that's not the sort of mark Leila wants to leave.

She wants people to remember her not for her heroism or for the tales told of her battles. She wants to be remembered for her kindness, for her ability to make people smile, to be able to help others without violence, especially when violence is so prevalent. She wants to leave the world a little better than when she arrived.

Hyoid/neck- Who taught them to speak up, or stay silent?

Ariadne: As a former slave, speaking up for herself was always difficult. Especially when she joined the Mercar family, despite Charon Mercar always telling her she was an equal to anyone in his house. It wasn't something an elven former slave believed. But when she met Tarquin, he helped her to find her voice. And it was because of him that she joined the Shadow Dragons in the first place. He showed her that she was more than her former life, she could make herself what she wanted, she could be strong. And because of him, she actually believed it.

Metacarpals- Do they ask for help or clench their fists and bear it?

Ava: She's stubborn. It's so hard for Ava to ask for help when she actually needs it. If she's doing something not serious, she has no issue getting people to come do the thing with her or to help her prank someone that rightfully deserves it. But if it's to help her with something she can't do or if she is hurt and really should seek help, she'll hide it, deny it, anything but actually get the help until she's passing out from blood loss. Girl needs friends like Viago to keep her ass in line.

Ribcage- Who/what are they trying to protect?

Ariadne: Specifically, she's trying to protect Minrathous. Her home, the place that made her what and who she is. Her friends. Her companions. She wants to protect everyone, even if she knows she won't be able to. And that's one of the hardest things to come to terms with. She isn't able to actually save them all, no matter how much she tries.

Ava: At first, Ava mainly wanted to protect herself. She's pretty selfish at the beginning of DATV. She wasn't saving the world for everyone else, just for herself, because if anyone gets to fuck up Treviso, it's her and not the Antaam or Solas or elven gods. Later, she wants to protect her team. Viago and Teia and Chance. Hell, even Illario to a point. And of course, there is Lucanis. Out of everyone, he's the one she'll die for if she has to. It's quite the turnabout from pre-canon.

Carpals- What small habits do they have?

Ariadne: When she has a difficult problem to think about, or if she's engaged in reading a very interesting book, she'll scrunch her nose. It's adorable. She sometimes sleep with her hand under her chin, likes she's thinking about something important before she drifts off. Whenever her love interest slips into bed with her, she'll turn and cuddle into them without waking. If a friend or her SO enjoys a hobby or a food, she'll take the time to learn how to do it or cook it, she'll try to find appreciation for whatever the people she loves love.

Ava: She chews on her knuckles when she's thinking. Everyone around her usually hates it. She also keeps her hair long enough to twirl around her finger. She rarely wears it up since it can get tangled easily, she runs her fingers through it a lot, and it's her go to instead of an actual brush. She's gotten yelled at by Viago for it. Ava also made it a habit to hum while she does a boring task. If it's something she had to do, but hates doing it, making it a little more fun with a song helps. When she eats something she really enjoys, she'll do a little dance. Let's just say Lucanis sees this dance a lot lol
