I’m imagining that the Dalish have a ton of medicinal, mystical, and straight-up supernatural lore about mushrooms.
The Dalish certainly eat a wide variety of mushrooms, with each clan keeping a sort of catalogue of their preferred varieties and the safest ways to prepare them. It’s possible that clans’ reports of exactly which species are edible might vary, due to location or methods of preparation or clan genetics.
Some mushrooms can be used to make dye. Imagine using fungus as an ingredient in the ink for certain Creators’ vallaslin.
In northern Europe and Russia, reindeer are known to be attracted to the Fly Agaric, Amanita muscaria, deliberately eating it for a high. I totally imagine halla doing the same thing, and Dalish Keepers or mages having learned from the halla that they can use A. muscaria to induce visions, trances, or other kinds of spiritual communion. Species of psilocybin-containing fungi might also be used for ritual or religious purposes, or even recreationally.
Certain mushrooms might be associated with Dirthamen, the Keeper of Secrets, given how they appear to suddenly sprout from nothing. Fly Agaric would be sacred to Ghilan’nain. Others are almost certainly associated with Falon’din, either because of their toxicity or because they are decomposers, breaking down dead matter and giving it new life.
