Tumblr broke on me for a second and wouldn’t let me post. So here’s a post after having to logout and log back in!
The last but not least commission from @dreamtydraw ! It’s Daloris Pitts, the grumpy office counselor.
She’s a bit off on how I imagined her. I had given the artist a lot of liberty as Daloris is a background character and therefore not fleshed out in appearance for me.
She’s got more of an indifferent attitude than the “resting bitch face” I had imagined her in, but I think it definitely looks good on her. The setting of the book is almost entirely in an office, so an apron was definitely a surprise. However, it was fun imagining what she might wear an apron for in her home life. I think she’d be the kind of person who’d exclusively wear an apron for cleaning.
Though it’s not exactly how I imagined it, it’s absolutely gorgeous. @dreamtydraw did an amazing job and I love whatever texture is going on.
With all that, I’ll say I was pretty frustrated with the artist due to how long it took to get my commissions. I had bought ten in total in July of 2024 and told them that I could supply them with references slowly as I was sure having all ten at once would be overwhelming, plus I’m a serial procrastinator and it would buy me time. She said that she was pretty quick and that sending all ten would be fine. I sent two at first as I was at work and sent the rest in a trickle as I found the time and energy. In September, dreamtydraw informed me that I had only sent nine, so I quickly sent over Daloris Pitts as my tenth commission. So I’ve been waiting, rather impatiently, for five months to receive my art that I had been told was quick all the while watching the artist post commission openings on their blog. I understand that they were having computer, health and in general life problems. I want to be understanding, so I want everyone else to be understanding as well. Sometimes, artists have got a lot on their plates.
I hate being a complainer. I hire artists because I love their work and they are affordable. I love the art I got. I just kind of gave up on ever receiving it since it drug out for so long. I’m sorry that I’m a serial complainer. Either way, I’ll be posting all ten commissions together next, so stay tuned.
