Seblaine Week 2021, Day 5: There you are (Free)
The Senior's French class is going on a school trip to Paris for a week. Among the students: Blaine Anderson and Sebastian Smythe. Might the city of love finally make the sparks between them light up to a massive bonfire? They will find out when one night, Sebastian gets real touchy with a French barkeeper and Blaine can't help the molten lava in his stomach from erupting.
(My Barry Allen is inspired by 2015 James Maslow)
“Mesdames et messieurs, nous venons d'atterrir à l'aéroport Paris Charles de Gaulle. Nous vous remercions d'avoir choisi notre compagnie. Air France et tout son personnel de bord vous souhaite un agréable séjour. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, we’ll be arriving soon at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Thank you for choosing our airline today. Air France and our crew on board…”
Blaine pries his eyes open and elbows Nick who just groans. “Nick, we’re here, you need to wake up…”, he yawns and sits up to fasten his seatbelt like a good passenger. Beside him, Nick slowly comes to life in his seat next to the aisle when a brunette flight attendant gently touches his arm with a “Monsieur, s’il vous plait…”. Outside his window, there’s just grey-white fog and clouds but Blaine presses his nose against the thick glass anyway.
“You’re not going to see the Eiffel Tower from so far away, Anderson” a sleepy voice drawls from the row behind him. He looks right and through the thin gap between his own seat and the window he sees Sebastian smile at him lazily. “It’s way more south…”
“Who says I’m looking for the Eiffel Tower? I could just enjoy the view.”
Sebastian raises one brow and pointedly looks out of the window before looking back at him. “Sure…”
"And... what if I was, how would you know where the Eiffel Tower is?"
Sebastian snorts. "I used to live here, you remember?" Oh, right. Blaine searches his brain for a quick-witted answer when a female voice interrupts their friendly banter.
“Okay, boys, attention s’il vous plait”, Ms. Dubois from three rows in front of them speaks up with her French accent, “everybody awake? Oui? Okay, alright. So, we’ll be arriving at the airport soon, please stay together, it’s a very big airport and we don’t want to lose anyone. We pick up our baggage and then outside the airport there’s a bus waiting for us who will take us to Montmartre where our hotel will be. It’s about an half an hour drive, that’s the moment when you can call or text your parents. I take it it’s already clear who will room with whom, non?”
Sleepy boys slowly nod at her.
“Magnifique. Okay. Then please keep an eye out for your roommates, I don’t want to send a search team. And please pack everything, we’re not going back to the airplane because one of you forgot their phone.”
“The Lady seems a little stressed out”, Nick murmurs. “We’re not in elementary school anymore. We don’t need to walk around in rows of two holding hands so no one gets lost.”
Blaine mock-gasps. “Are you telling me you don’t wanna hold hands with me, Nicolas? And you’re telling me this now?”
Nick laughs. “Sorry to break it to you, man.”
Blaine leans forward in his seat and looks at Jeff who's on the other side of the aisle next to him and Nick. “Did you hear that, Jeffrey? What do you say about that?”
There’s chuckling in the row behind them. “Preaching to the choir, Blaine, that’s what he’s thinking.” Barry’s face appears in the gap between the window and middle seat. “If Nick doesn’t want to hold hands with his boyfriend, he won’t do it with you.”
“We’re not boyfriends!”, Nick and Jeff exclaim and Barry just rolls his eyes. “Sure, whatever you say. But, Blaine, I guess Sebastian wouldn’t mind holding your hand or anything else – ouch!” He pulls his head back again with a “Don’t say it isn’t true…” in Sebastian’s direction and rubs the back of his head where apparently Sebastian had hit him. Blaine grins and settles into his seat.
The bickering goes on as the wheels of their plane touch French ground, as they make their way out of the plane, the airport, the bus until their standing in front of a white building, the word “hotel” in ornamental golden letters above the door.
That’s it, he thinks, the place in the heart of Paris, France, where they are going to spend the next ten days with their French class. Blaine knows he returned to Dalton for a lot of different reasons – but being able to go on a school trip to Europe is definitely a perk he appreciates.
The next few days are full of culture and history and getting lost in small alleys, Google Maps not that much of a help. Ms. Dubois shoos them from art museums to historic sites and back. Sometimes, mostly in the evening, they are allowed to explore the city on their own in smaller groups (that’s usually where they get lost, though it’s significantly better when Sebastian is with them). On the 5th night, a Saturday, they decide to make use of the fact that the drinking age in Europe is 18 and Sebastian leads Nick, Jeff, Barry, Blaine, Maxwell and Trent to a small bar in Montmartre he apparently used to frequent when he was living there.
It’s a summer night and there’s jazz band playing when they take their seats around a round table outside on the patio, the waiter soon arriving with a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine. Blaine is squished into the corner between Sebastian and Nick, so he can feel the warmth of Sebastian’s body on his left side where their legs are pressing together and their arms brush occasionally (somehow he doesn’t nearly pay as much attention to his right side where Nick is seated).
It’s actually a very nice evening, Blaine thinks as he sips on his third glass of wine and listens to Sebastian telling a story about one time he and his friends from Paris did… something. Okay, he doesn’t actually listen as much as he watches Sebastian’s lips move. He’s got really nice lips. And his eyes seem to sparkle a little, too. When Sebastian moves his hand through his hair to get it out of his face, Blaine has to take a deep breath. He looks down at his glass. Maybe he’s had enough…
“Another one, B?” Blaine looks up into Sebastian’s questioning eyes. He’s arching an eyebrow and raises the almost empty wine bottle. “I was about to order another round, you want the rest?”
“Don’t give him any more alcohol, Sebastian!”, Barry chuckles – slightly tipsy himself probably – from Sebastian’s left side. “He’s so small, where do you think all the wine goes? It’s like getting a baby drunk.”
The whole table breaks out laughing. Well, the whole table but Blaine who – petulantly – downs the rest of his wine and holds out his glass towards Sebastian. Sebastian just grins, shrugs and empties the bottle. Velvet red liquid fills Blaine’s glass and somewhere deep inside he knows, it’s childish and he probably shouldn’t but he’s about to graduate soon, he’s an adult and his – umm – hesitancy towards Barry is also not completely gone yet. He’ll show him how much alcohol he can take.
Sebastian puts down the empty bottle and throws his arm around Blaine’s shoulders with a “That’s my boy!”.
The weight and warmth on Blaine’s shoulders feels actually very grounding, Blaine decides and dares to lean a little into the other’s body. If Sebastian minds or even notices it, he doesn’t show.
If Blaine is honest with himself, that night in Paris isn’t the first time he's sought physical contact with Sebastian. When he and Kurt broke up, everything about McKinley hurt – every place a constant reminder of his broken dream, about the things he gave up and his failure. Convincing his parents to send him back to Dalton was actually the easiest thing, it was harder to break the news to some of his friends. Tina cried, Kitty didn’t talk to him for two weeks and Sam was thoroughly confused. Marley was actually the only one who just hugged him and told him to follow his heart. Of course, the others came around eventually, but Blaine still suspects no one of them truly understands.
Sometimes he wonders if he himself truly understands why returning was the first thing he thought of. Sebastian said Dalton might be a comfort-thing, a safe place where he felt appreciated and that’s why he wanted to come back. Blaine had told him about it on one of the nights they spent lounging around in Sebastian’s bed in his single dorm room, talking for hours. It’s something they used to do via the phone but with Blaine now in the dorms, they kind of developed a routine to do it face to face.
Actually, many of their little traditions have resurfaced since Blaine came back. Like getting coffee on Wednesdays and Sundays – but instead of the Lima Bean, the go to Dalton’s coffee shop on campus. Sebastian calls it “an improvement of intergalactic extent” and Blaine usually shakes his head, smiles and – deep inside – appreciates all the times Sebastian met him at the Lima Bean besides disliking their coffee even more. He also kind of misses the small rants Sebastian used to give about the 70s furniture or incapable baristas.
There are also some new traditions like Blaine meeting Sebastian for breakfast every morning, Sebastian’s face still a little red after his morning run. How someone wants to get up at 5:30 only to run around in the dark, Blaine will never understand. However, the way his hair is still damp and soft-looking after a quick shower and the way he constantly runs a hand through it is something Blaine can appreciate – he’s only a teenage boy after all and Sebastian has a handsome face. And it looks really soft.
Of course, he knows that Sebastian not only has a handsome face. More than once Sebastian – who apparently has no problem with nudity whatsoever – was running late for their nightly talk after Lacrosse practice, so he opened the door in nothing but his boxers, still drying himself off after or on his way to hop into the shower.
More than once Blaine had to swallow hard and force himself not to follow a drop of water from Sebastian’s collarbone over his chest and abs, he’s only a teenage boy after all and Lacrosse really worked out well for Sebastian.
And now they are in Paris, city of love, and it makes the hopeless romantic inside of Blaine revel in all the possibilities. He’d never say anything, of course. He keeps telling himself that Sebastian is not that kind of guy, not the relationship-type. Though, he never directly asked him. And he still enjoys all the little things, the small smiles and light touches.
Blaine takes another sip. Maybe he’s just afraid, he muses, maybe this spark he feels with Sebastian could lead to something more. He tears his gaze away from his wine, looks to his left – and sees an empty seat. Blaine frowns and looks around but Sebastian’s nowhere in sight. He tries to concentrate on the conversations around but 5, 7, 10 more minutes go by without Sebastian re-appearing.
“Hey guys”, he speaks up, “where did Seb go?”
“Hmm”, Maxwell narrows his dark-brown eyes and looks around, “he actually just wanted to order another bottle since the waiter kept walking by. Hey, dude”, he slaps Barry’s arm who almost spills the sip of white wine he was just about to drink, “where’s your boyfriend?”
Barry’s eyes widen. “What?”, he asks in a high-pitched voice, “Max, who told you? Hunter and I agreed not to tell anyone!”
A big grin spreads on Maxwell’s face. “Hunter? Really, you and the military boy? Man… I was actually talking about Sebastian but that story is way better!” The whole table seems to listen now. Max throws his arm around Barry who blushes crimson when he realizes his mistake. “Tell me more, tell me more!”
“Shit, can you just forget what I said? Please, he’ll kill me…”, Barry whines and everyone laughs. Still, after a lot of coaxing, he slowly starts telling them what they want to hear.
Blaine – as shocked as everyone else about the sudden revelation – decides to hear the story another time and gets up to look for Sebastian. He’s a little unstable on his feet – the last glass was really a bad idea, he thinks – but he makes it inside without tumbling over someone’s feet, so that’s a win, right?
He doesn’t have to search around for long, sees Sebastian casually leaning against the bar immediately, only a few feet away from him. He smiles, wants to go over with a “There you are” but stops eventually when he sees Sebastian laugh and gently lay his hand on the bartender’s arm where he starts drawing patterns with his index finger. Blaine frowns and crosses his arms in front of his body. What the fuck…?
The bartender – young guy, brown hair, great cheekbones – averts his eyes, smiles coyly before he lifts his gaze again. “Tu es fou…”, he hears him say but he doesn’t sound like he actually thinks that Sebastian is crazy, more like a “I can’t believe you are so gorgeous”. Or, at least that’s what Blaine hears.
Sebastian grins at the boy with a “Tu n'as pas idée…” and winks. The boy might not but Blaine certainly has some ideas what’s going on here. And he doesn’t like it one single bit.
Then Sebastian leans in, takes hold of the other boy’s wrist and whispers something into his ear and that, that’s it for Blaine who stalks over with his face still in a frown and arms crossed. When he stands close to where Sebastian is still leaning over the bar top, he clears his throat. Loudly.
“There you are, we were looking everywhere for you”, he says but it sounds more like “What the fuck are you doing?”. Sebastian pulls back and Blaine notices a faint blush and glassy shimmer in the bartender’s eyes when he looks at Sebastian. “I thought you just wanted to order another bottle of wine.”
Sebastian grins and turns around. “Oh, hey, Killer. I was, actually, but then Jean-Luc here”, he winks at the boy, “had so many fascinating stories to tell, I completely forgot about the wine.”
Blaine glares at the bartender. “I’m sure he had.”
“Yes, he did. He told me about this club that just opened last year. It’s a restaurant by day but at night, they push chairs and tables to the side and it’s a club with everyone dancing on the furniture and shit. We should really check that out.” Sebastian pats the bartender’s shoulder.
Blaine still glares but Jean-Luc doesn’t even look in his direction. “Sure, why not?”
“Great!”, Sebastian exclaims and grabs Jean-Lucs hand, “wait, tu viens, n'est-ce pas? You’re coming with us?”
What? “What?”, Blaine asks.
“I mean, come on, it was his idea, Killer. And he knows the club. You have to come!”
“Je ne sais pas… I don’t know, Sébastien.” Jean-Luc smiles.
“We shouldn’t force him if he doesn’t want to, Seb.”
“Ah, come on, he wants to. When does your shift end?”, Sebastian smiles at the bartender and Blaine grits his teeth.
“Two hours, alright”, Sebastian reaches for a napkin and scribbles down numbers, “c’est mon numéro de téléphone. Text when you’re done and we’ll see if we’re still there. D‘accord?” Sebastian winks. Jean-Luc nods. Blaine bites his tongue, turns around and goes back outside.
Sebastian follows him, announcing the idea of hitting a club to the rest of the group. Most of them are on board, only Nick and Barry want to head back to the hotel. They stay for 20 more minutes until everyone has finished their drinks.
Blaine is silent for the whole time and tries to suppress how Sebastian openly flirting with another boy makes him feel. Yes, they might not be together or dating or anything… but there’s something between them, right? Blaine isn’t so sure anymore. He holds on tight to his empty glass and tries to have as less physical contact with Sebastian as possible, practically almost sitting on Nick’s lap who looks at him with confusion.
Confusion turns into worry when Blaine announces to go home with Nick and Barry. “Ohh, come on, Killer”, Sebastian whines and gently shoves him, “don’t hurt me like that. I’ve been looking forward to seeing your butt in those too-tight-chinos rocking out on the dance floor. Don’t take this away from me…”
“Shut the fuck up, Sebastian. Would you finally stop objectifying me and reducing me to my ass? Please? I’m more than that”, Blaine snaps and Sebastian’s face falls. His eyebrows furrow. “Umm, okay… what?” – “You heard me.”
The silence between them is cold and uncomfortable for everyone on the table. So Blaine gets up, puts some money on the table for his drinks and looks at Nick expectantly. “Can we go? I’m tired…”
“Umm, yeah… okay…”, Nick murmurs and everyone else follows suit. They stand in front of the restaurant to say goodbye when Sebastian comes up behind Blaine. “Listen, B”, he mumbles, “I’m sorry if my comments upset you, it’s just… you didn’t seem to mind before and now suddenly you’re… mad?”
Blaine sighs. “You don’t know what” – or who, his brain supplies – “I want, Sebastian.”
Sebastian looks even more confused. “Okay, but I do think I know you quite well and you never seemed to mind?”
“Well, we only know what people want us to know about them, right?”
“What is that supposed to mean? Blaine, you know that I think of you as more than just a pretty face or a nice butt.”
“Yes, you do”, Sebastian insists.
“Well, if you say so…”, Blaine hisses and crosses his arms again. With a short “Bye, guys” to his friends, he turns around and begins walking in the direction they came from.
He hears Sebastian call after him but doesn’t turn around, not until he hears footsteps on the pavement quickly catching up with him. “Dude, what’s wrong?”, Nick asks and Barry arrives soon later. Blaine just stares ahead before he grinds out: “Someone has to start Google Maps, I have no fucking clue where we are and I really want to go to bed.” He wants to be asleep before the two hours of Jean-Lucs shift are over and he has to imagine him and Sebastian touching on the dancefloor.
Of course, he doesn’t fall asleep. Nick and Barry try to get him to talk a few more times but he just ignores them. He brushes his teeth, rinses out the gel, changes into his pajama. Then he lays there in his comfortable hotel bed and thinks.
He thinks about the one time he fell asleep in Sebastian’s bed and when he woke up in the middle of the night, they were curled into each other.
He remembers how his stomach dropped when Sebastian once got hit hard with a stick on the Lacrosse field and the relief that flooded him when he saw he was alright.
He thinks about this small smile Sebastian has sometimes, like he knows something no one else knows and the only person he’d be willing to share it with is Blaine. Blaine used to think this smile could lead to something. A maybe. If he’s truly honest, he even hoped it would happen here in Paris. Maybe one night under the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower Sebastian would look at him and finally be like “Oh, there you are – I've been looking for you forever”.
He didn’t want to admit it. He even tried to fight it. But honestly, he thinks he might’ve been falling in love with Sebastian for a long time now. And he doesn’t know what to do with those feelings when to him it seems obvious that Sebastian doesn’t feel the same way.
A small tear runs down his cheek, then another. He sniffles. Kurt didn’t want him. Sebastian doesn’t want him. Why does no one want him? He feels how the duvet is lifted, the mattress dips and Nick’s arm wraps around him. “He’s an idiot if he really prefers some French bartender over you, B”, he whispers and Blaine buries his face in Nick’s soft t-shirt.
“How’d you know?”, he chokes.
“Saw him with that guy when I came back from the bathroom. I wasn’t really sure about you, though, until you yelled at him.” Nick grins. “We’ve known each other for a long time now, B, I always know when you’re upset." They fall asleep cuddling.
Blaine feels way better when he gets up but that feeling is fleeting when he meets the other guys at breakfast. He tries not to listen to the stories from the night before, how Max lost his drink somewhere and maybe or maybe not found it again. He does, however, wait for the inevitable story of Jean-Luc arriving and Sebastian making out with him against a wall but it doesn’t come. Actually, Sebastian is pretty quiet. Probably hungover, Blaine thinks but he doesn’t ask.
They visit the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame on a guided tour through the city and eventually end up at the Eiffel Tower when the sun starts to set. On a small stripe of gras a huge picknick awaits them. There’s no wine, of course, but a lot of baguette, cheese and even chocolate cake. Blaine is munching on a macaron on a blanket with Jeff when in the corner of his eye he notices someone sitting down next to him.
“Jeffrey, could you leave us alone for a minute? Please? My seat next to Trent is free.” Blaine doesn’t have to look up to know who it is.
“Jeff, you can stay”, he says when Jeff looks from Sebastian to Blaine and back and attempts to get up.
“It’s okay, Blaine. I wanted to get up for a little anyway”, he half-smiles down on him and makes his way over to a bunch of other boys. Blaine sighs.
“You make it sound like being alone with me is the worst thing, Killer…” Sebastian tries to keep it light but Blaine can hear the hurt in his voice. He hates it. “What, you’re just ignoring me now?”
Blaine looks up from his macaron. “Hi, Sebastian.” Sebastian raises one eyebrow in a “Are you serious?”-kind of way. “See? Not ignoring you.”
Sebastian sighs. “You’re kind. You’re funny. You don’t get enough credit for your wit. You have a big heart and you wear it on your sleeve. And you’re also the strongest person I know.” He looks at Blaine. “And those are just a few of the many, many things I admire and like about you. I don’t understand why you’re mad at me, B, I really don’t. But if it’s really about my comments about your ass – I’m sorry. I am. It was meant to be compliment but maybe it came across like that was the only interesting thing about you for me. If so, I’m really sorry. Still, you have to believe me, it’s not. You’re handsome and there are several features about your body that I like, too, but you are so much more than that. I’m hoping you can forgive me and I promise to never make such a comment again.”
Sebastian looks genuinely sorry and Blaine’s heart breaks a little. Despite all his jealousy and sadness, he still likes Sebastian. He’s still his friend. And he’s asking for forgiveness for something Blaine might’ve complained about but only because he couldn’t say what was really bothering him.
Sebastian is right, he doesn’t mind the comments or the innuendo. Sure, maybe he would if it was anyone else, but he knows where Sebastian comes from. It’s even flattering to some extent. And of course he knows that his body isn’t the only thing Sebastian cares about.
Sebastian was there when he tried to fit back in at Dalton, helped him with schoolwork, caught him up on Warblers-choreography and listened to him complain about everything. He hugged him tight when he was totally sure he had failed his chemistry test, he ranked his fingers through his curls when Blaine told him about why he came to Dalton in the first place. He listened when Blaine confessed that his father never really came to terms with his son’s sexuality and even shared something about his own strained relationship with his father.
There’s no doubt about it, Sebastian had been a good friend. But – and there’s no doubt either – Blaine just realized that this is not enough for him and he doesn’t know how to deal with those feelings without losing their friendship.
But that’s not Sebastian’s problem.
They stare at each other for a long minute. Eventually, Blaine sighs and averts his eyes.
“I know. I’m sorry, too. I was…” Sad? Disappointed? Angry? “I was just tired and a little tipsy and I let it out on you. I’m sorry, Seb. I know you care, I care about you, too.”
Sebastian visibly releases a breath. “Oh, wow, I’m really glad you’re saying that. I was so… I don’t know. I wouldn’t know what I would do without you in my life, B.” He laughs awkwardly. Blaine smiles.
“So…”, he begins, “how was…umm…” Just say it, Blaine, good friends ask each other about their love lives. “How was your night with, umm, with Jean-Luc?” He fumbles with some blades of grass.
“Jean-Luc?” Sebastian wrinkles his nose. “Oh, the bartender. Yeah, I, umm, I told him not to come. I kind of wasn’t in the mood to see anyone after you left.” He scratches the back of his head and looks down.
“But you’re going to see him again, right? I mean, we’re still here for a few days.”
Sebastian makes an undistinguishable sound. “Probably not. I mean, I like flirting. You know that. I think the game is… intriguing. And I had a lot to drink last night, that probably added to it.” He looks at Blaine who also raises his gaze. “But truth is, he’s… he’s nobody.” He shrugs one shoulder and his voice turns soft. “He’s not special.”
Sebastian always called him special. Not only when it was about his singing or dancing but in general. A supernova.
And suddenly, it seems like something shifts in Sebastian’s eyes when the lights go on around the Eiffel Tower.
“I’ve spent years kissing people that are not special. Kind of don’t want to do that anymore. I mean, what for, right?”
Blaine takes a deep breath but doesn’t look away. “Right.”
Slowly, almost like slow-motion, Sebastian starts leaning in. In a hushed whisper he adds: “I’m sorry for flirting with him. I didn’t want to hurt you – I just wanted to push you.”
Blaine’s eyes widen and he gasps: “You did that on purpose?”
Sebastian reaches out a hand and brushes a curl behind his ear. “Well, in my defense, he started it. I just laid it on a little thicker.” He smiles. “I’ve been waiting for forever for you to finally see me the way I see you. And now the school year comes to an end. Soon, we’ll be off to college and you’ll forget about me. I thought I might have to push you now or wait forever wondering what could’ve been.”
Blaine leans into Sebastian’s touch. “I could never forget you.” He grins. “No one else ever told me I was sex on a stick and sang like a dream.”
Sebastian huffs a laugh. “That was so long ago… I was a stupid idiot back then.”
“Aww, don’t be so hard on yourself – you’re still a stupid idiot now sometimes. Like, seriously, what did you expect would happen if you try to make me jealous by flirting with a French bartender? Shove him away, grab you by the collar and kiss you?”
“I don’t know”, Sebastian begins stroking over Blaine’s cheek and adds with a grin, “sounds hot, though.” Blaine laughs and shakes his head. “I certainly didn’t expect you to glare daggers at him and then snap at me for a comment about your ass I made a hundred times before.” His smile fades. “However, I was serious about that. If you want me to stop, I’ll stop. Promise.”
Blaine shakes his head again. “I was just very angry at you. I, umm, actually don’t mind the comments too much”, he admits. “I just wanted to yell at you.”
“You’re not the only one who yelled at me.”
Blaine raises his eyebrows in surprise. “Oh, really?”
“Yeah. Barry called once you were back at the hotel. He said you were very upset and that he had told me my ‘stupid game plan’ wouldn’t work.”
Sebastian snorts. “Barry is, like, you’re biggest fan. When I told him how I wanted to push you to finally realize what you’re feeling for me, he was so not on board. He told me it would backfire which, eventually, it did. But he has been rooting for you and me for forever.”
“Oh.” Blaine looks down. “Then I should probably apologize to him. I have to admit, I was always kind of… jealous of him. He just… you two get along so well, sometimes it’s like you’re the same person. I guess I always wondered if you two would end up together.”
“Me and Barry?”, Sebastian exclaims and shakes his head in disbelief. “Oh God, no. That would be like… dating my nicer twin brother or something. We could never work.” He laughs. “Plus, Hunter would kill me, I guess.”
Blaine tears his gaze away from the grassroots. “So, they’re really in love, yes?”
Sebastian groans and rolls his eyes. “Disgustingly so. I don’t know why they still keep it a secret, maybe Hunter doesn’t want it to mess with his drill-sergeant-image or whatever. But, B, you should see them together…” He shudders. “I think that’s even too much for someone as in love with the idea of eternal love as you.”
Blaine laughs but doesn’t answer. For a while they just look at each other. Sebastian cocks his head.
“Because… I would really like to kiss you now and I don’t want to overstep any boundaries.”
“You’re not. I would really like you to overstep this boundary.”
Then, Sebastian slowly leans in again, giving Blaine enough time to pull back if he wanted to but he doesn’t. Their lips touch and their surroundings drop away.
When they part again and Blaine opens his eyes, his heart drops to his stomach. Never in his life, not even with Kurt, has someone looked at him with that much affection. It’s like Sebastian’s eyes are saying “Oh, there you are. I've been looking for you forever”.
It feels like his soul cries happy tears.
