Foundation Fics

Like for what it’s worth these are the Foundation fics that exist or like, will hopefully exist at some point:

the world, safe and sound for you -- SHARA BEY ADVENTURES; written very piecemeal, idk if I’m going to actually be able to shepherd it into an actual coherent narrative. I’d say about 60% done at this point.

bleed and fight for you (make it right for you) -- “How Poe was born” fic; POSTED.

Seisin -- Real Property & The New Republic; not planned for in my original mental outline, written because I heard that Snow Patrol song. (cut: cutesy/hilarious re-imagining of the property law tradition of Officially(TM) transferring property to people by handing them a clump of dirt or a twig representing that property. No, real talk, that was totally a thing. What is property law, even?). POSTED

do whatever it takes (make a million mistakes) -- Kes Dameron, a Sad Dad Trying His Best; one scene written, but it’s ideally going to be a Five Things + One Thing type format, and I don’t have any of the other things, soooo...that’s slow going

blow them all away -- Poe Dameron Is A Bad Patient & Kes Dameron Is A Good Dad; what I’m working on right now, technically, and what’ll probably (HOPEFULLY) actually be posted next, though I went ahead and put up two parts on the kinkmeme so people would know it was actually being worked on. I’m just kind of stalled out on a couple of things but I may just need to PUSH THROUGH and will hopefully have time after this weekend. I can’t even estimate how much of it is finished; it’s one of those things that I won’t know is done till it’s done.

Never The Same River Twice -- Poe brings Finn home to Yavin IV, family dynamics ensue; I’d say about a solid half of this is written, but a part of me feels like I can’t post it until the rest of...everything is done, so. I mean if I was actually finished with it I wouldn’t actually care. 

Other vaguely related things on the backburner:

Another Five Times + One Time fic where Poe Confronts Mortality (look. LOOK. Before the Awakening brought it up first and had him do it when he was eight in light of his mom dying. If I expand on that I’m not being any worse than Before the Awakening is), at least some of which should feature bb!Poe growing up. 

Some ACTUALLY HAPPY TIMES for the Kes, Shara, Poe family unit, where they’re all together -- this may be the hardest of all because COMPLETE, HAPPY FAMILIES is so not my wheelhouse

I want to be terribly unclassy and write about how Poe was conceived. Like, clearly as a result of some athletic, desperate, ‘yay we didn’t die sex!’, right? Shhhhhh, I’m a super classy writer. I write about death all the time.

honestly, this post is the case for Rey Not-Skywalker, because ‘no one is no one’ would be so much more beautiful and meaningful if ‘no one’ has nothing to do with where you came from but who you are

that people are important regardless of a cosmic plan or what your lineage is to make you fit into a cyclical narrative. Rey is powerful and strong and capable on her own, not because her dad might be Luke Skywalker. 

I just-

its the best of Doctor Who; that in a thousand years he’s never met someone who wasn’t important. its Donna Noble, its Martha Jones, Rose Tyler: that a shopgirl or a temp can save the world because of their own merits and choices and bravery and strength

its Ron or Hermione helping and saving the wizarding world because its just as much who they are and what they choose to do as it is Harry being ‘the Chosen One’.

And to have Rey be just an abandoned child like any other abandoned, lonely child; that no one is no one, that nobody is nothing. that someone raised from birth to be a stormtrooper can decide to be something different when faced with a choice and help change the fate of the Galaxy

that we, too, can do it on our own because what we choose to be and do? that makes us who we are. not because our aunt is General Organa and our father is the Last Jedi who tore down an Empire with his faith, love, and hope. because all of us can have love, faith, and hope. Just ask Finn. Ask Poe.

Rey Not-Skywalker is just infinitely more strong and powerful to me. the narrative they’re building so far makes this pretty much impossible, but I’m still going to hold onto it and hope for it in the meantime because my god,  the Force can be with all of us, shouldn’t it?
